Murata-ya has very friendly people running the place and you feel like you are on a family stay. The rooms and other facilities are very clean and constantly refreshed by the staff. At a very reasonable cost, you get Japanese styled rooms with futon beds and tatami flooring. The Japanese breakfast set is worth every yen that you pay for, again having that homecooked quality to it. They have English instructions posted all around the place to help foreign visitors to get acquainted to Japanese ryokan etiquette.
Plus there were nice touches like fresh ikebana flowers displayed throughout the inn.
And best of all, when we headed out to find a restaurant for dinner, the owner ran to catch up with us and personally escorted us to places popular with the locals -- Such great service!
We will definitely be back!
