The hotel appears to be fairly new and our room with 2 twin beds was well designed with a small refrigerator, a pretty tea set and electric kettle. My daughter has been down to the onsen 3 times already. They do not permit persons with tattoos in the public bath. We did our laundry down in the lobby floor with coin operated machines.

We have just completed a 3 night stay at Hotel Amanek in Kanazawa. We wanted to share our review.

The property is located in the Katamachi Ward of Kanazawa, a short 5min taxi ride to/from Kanazawa Station. Kanazawa Station will get you both local trains and the high speed bullet trains. The property is also a short walk to the heart of Kanazawa’s shopping and entertainment areas as well as the historical heart of the region. A very central location for getting around.

The property itself is brand new looking, very well maintained and managed. The lobby is located on the second floor along with a very comfortable lounge. Our check-in was very professional and the staff provided us with detailed explanations of the amenities and layout of the hotel.

The room we booked was tidy, spacious and had very comfortable beds and pillows. The wifi connection within the property was easy to join onto and provided ample speed to stream with. There are also plenty of channels to pick from with the TV.

The hotel does have a fitness facility, though it is quite limiting for serious workouts. Luckily there are a few affordable gyms within easy walking distance from the property should you wish to maintain your fitness routine. There is also an onsen attached to the spa located on the second floor. The onsen is open for hotel guests during the morning and evenings. The property does have a breakfast option and the restaurant is located on the first floor. We did not participate in their breakfast option so we cannot provide insight on that.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and found it to be an excellent value for money. We will be back again in the future. We will also be sure to recommend Hotel Amanek to our friends as well

This was our 5th day in Central Japan. We went on a sightseeing tour at the World Heritage Takayama and Shirakawagou Old towns before check-in to this hotel for our tour at Kanazawa.

The hotel impressed me as a modern hotel conveniently located near Kanazawa train station and within a busy night entertainment hub of nightclubs, bars and restaurants.

The counter staff were very helpful and courteous. We felt welcome with the free flow of detox fruit tea and coffee drinks provided at the hotel front desk.

I woke up early the following day at 5 am and went for a physical work out at the hotel gym. The threadmill machine and cycling bike stand were functioning well but the lat pull and leg extension machines were not serviceable. Likewise, the massage chair could not be operated.

But these minus points were compensated by the spa pool where I enjoyed a rejuvenating early bath at 6 am.

The buffet breakfast was sufficiently sumptuous. I have slowly grown fond of eating Japanese breakfast. The slimy and viscous Japanese yam which Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) termed it as 山药 appeared in most hotel menu and it is supposed to be nutritious from TCM perspective and believed to strengthen the function of the spleen and kidney.

Nattos, the Japanese fermented soya beans is another healthy food. Likewise with yogurt, burdock, miso, seaweed and beans. The emphasis on gut health is one area we should learn from the Japanese. Dietary and lifestyle modification can prevent chronic illnesses and cancer.

After my heavy breakfast, I went for a relax stroll along Saigawa River. Was surprised that Saigawa Bridge is already 100 years old.

The hotel also acts as an excellent platform from where we explored Kenrokuen Garden (top 3 gardens in Japan); Kanazawa Castle, Ohmicho Fish Market and Higashi Chaya District.

Paper thin walls, noise coming from other rooms travels through the walls.
The windows are not sound proof and siren from emergency services can be heard inside.
The very spartan room is claustrophobic , dark with very poor lighting.
Shower space is minuscule.
The only good thing about this place is the location.
Dirty coffee cups left at the hotel entrance were still there 3 hours later.

Has everything you need, including Onsen, washing (for a fee), small exercise room and complimentary coffee. Breakfast is not included. The room is small but friendly, largely made up of the double bed and bathroom. Walking distance to most of Kanazawa’s main attractions. Staff are polite and friendly.

One noticeable feature about this hotel is the front desk really went out of their way to help us, answer our questions and advise us about local attractions. Other reviewers already mentioned all other hotel good features so we won't repeat here. Especially shout-out to the young receiptionist on the front desk at the front lobby. She demonstrated the great Japanese hospitality custom, Omotenashi. She's patiently helped us with contacting local tour operator and to various questions of first-timer to Kanazawa: where to get the bus, where to eat, what to see... she distinctly epitomizes the "kikubari" custom, which means anticipating the needs of others and attending to them before they're expressed. Even though she told us that she was not born in Japan she could explain everything very well in English.

Room Tip: The osen is good, nicer if the hotel adds massage jet (whirlpool-like) with the osen.

Stayed one night at this hotel on a tour of Japan.
Hotel Amanek is a contemporary hotel, centrally located close to lots of restaurants and shops.
Our twin room was very comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean. It was also a reasonable size by Japanese standards. We had a tv, small fridge and tea/coffee making facilities.
Breakfast was included in our tariff and more than satisfactory.
Great stay!

Newish hotel. Rooms are of a reasonable size. Good Wi-Fi, kettle and tea, safe and fridge. Beds are comfortable. Bathroom has separate shower which is of good quality.
Air conditioning/Heating works well. Breakfast is a set traditional Japanese.

Located right in the centre of city but once you close the windows you can´t hear a sound. Room is large and clean. Beds are VERY hard and pillows even harder so sleep quality is unfortunately poor. Breakfast is very japanese and I´m glad we didn´t book it.

We stayed in a 5-bed connecting room which was surprisingly spacious. The room’s got a nice view and the beds were so comfortable. The hotel is well placed as its walking distance to most areas of interest in Kanazawa such as the Samurai Town and the castle.
