We booked this room based on recommendations from other travelers and were not disappointed. The entrance was very inviting with the decor and the staff welcoming. The room, though not much of a view outside, was nicely appointed with a Japanese kimono-print serving as the headboard. We enjoyed the location and were able to walk everywhere. The highlight for us, though, was the breakfast buffet. Not sure I've seen a nice display of high quality food. What was wonderful about the buffet was that it featured / focused on local vegetables and dishes. Would absolutely stay here again!

I stayed one night in early March 2020 with my wife. Kanazawa was the last stop of a long weekend trip that included stops in Osaka and Kyoto.
The Mitsui Garden is a modern, beautifully designed hotel. The lobby is open and inviting. And the staff are all very friendly.
We stayed during the coronavirus pandemic, so unfortunately the baths were closed, as was the breakfast buffet (strangely enough, though, there was buffet style drink service but not buffet style food service at breakfast).
The room was standard a Japanese sized room, but we were able to make it work without any difficulty.
I would definitely stay again.

The hotel is new and the room was very clean and well-furnished with a big comfy bed, safety deposit box, and roomy enough to accommodate a table and 2 chairs. The bathroom is more like a North American style layout but with the usual Japanese toilet. There's a big public bath located on the top floor for guests' use and we enjoyed it nightly. We asked for a quiet room and was assigned a room at the back and it was perfect. The bus stop is just a 5 min walk away from the hotel. Several buses will take you to and from the Kanazawa station on a short ride.
We highly recommend this hotel.

The Good The room we had was very restful. We heard no noise around and that was appreciated. No real view but that was fine. The room came with pyjamas, a modern bathroom, safe, fridge, small sitting area. Everything looked clean. The onsen is small but well maintained and it has a view of the mountains. I understand that some like to bath in the morning or early evening to see either the sunrise or sunset. Food: Breakfast buffet selection was good and the Japanese breakfast was probably second best out of 5 hotels that we stayed at. The dining room next to the lobby is small but seems to manage turnover so there are spots for guests. You can also eat dinner here. The hotel is fairly central where you can walk to some attractions (weather permitting) The Bad Check out is service biased We noted that non-white people are pushed to use the computer kiosk to check out, while Caucasian people get the front desk treatment. Fee to check in early: I was wondering why people were waiting in the lobby. We found they charge an extra 10,000 yen per hour if you want to check in before the official time. Does that make sense to do that if the room is ready? Does it make sense when it is so hot and your customers need relief. No other hotel Japanese or otherwise did that in our experience. (We paid, but other guests did not seem to agree it was reasonable) Check in: We had a reservation that was prepaid. We had a voucher and I also had the paid invoice from the travel agent. The staff insisted that we pay again (I understand because they could not find it on their system). We spent at least 20 minutes in front of other guests while they essentially questioned our integrity. We had to provide the solution to ask the hotel to call our travel agent in Tokyo to confirm. As person who firsthand understands the Japanese company culture and the profound care and pride taken with the best service, that type of conduct is a disgrace to their brand name - especially because it was a hotel error. There were so many other ways a professional hotel would have resolved that. I sincerely hope they receive the feedback to find the root cause and better train. This negative incident coloured the rest of our time in Kanazawa. Overall: I don’t know if it is the poor training of a few or systemic of this chain, but with all the other choices, I recommend you look to other alternatives. We will certainly provide the feedback to our agent and I will mention it to my work colleagues to avoid this location.

From the 13th floor public bath, you can look down the Kanazawa Castle Park hearlng healing music which was very relaxing. From the hotel you can walk to Kanazawa castle park, Ohmicho market, Oyama shrine. If you wish you can take a bus from the Minamicho-Oyama shrine bus stop nearby showing one day path for 600 Yen to visit almost evry famous sightseeing spot in Kanazawa.

Moreover, guests can enjoy a beautiful whole Kanazawa city view on that floor anytime. If you like to take a walk, it is possible to walk to some sightseeing spots such as 21 century museum, Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle Park. Especially when it is sunny, we believe it is very nice to walk around beautiful Kanazawa city. We look forward for your next visit again. Mitsui Gardens Kanazawa was our introduction to Japanese hotels and overall was the best hotel in our nearly 3 week stay. Hotel is beautifully decorated and very clean. We stayed in a spacious 24 sq metres superior king room that had a table and 2 small lounges and amazingly an excellent iron. PJs in room and amenities available near exception. There are 3 washing machines on the top floor which are in high demand. Breakfast had many Japanese options which were delicious; partner was however disappointed there was limited cereal. There is also a Happy Hour from 5-7 in the breakfast room/ restaurant. Two convenience stores close by. Taxi to/from the station only cost AUD10. Otherwise 20-25 minute pleasant flat walk to Kazue-Machi Chaya and Higashi Chaya districts as well as Nagamachi samurai district which is highly recommended. Loop bus stops across the road and takes about 30 minutes to Kenrokuen Garden with lovely walk back to hotel via castle and Oyama jinja Shine ( a must see). Katamachi shopping and restaurant district also a few blocks/ easy walking distance away. Only negative was we had a street facing room and there was a bit of traffic noise in the mornings.

After a positive experience in December I chose the Mitsui Garden again when I returned to Kanazawa for 3 nights in June. In the comfortable, spacious and well-appointed king room there was once again a beautful collage made of local Futamata washi paper above the bed. The view was mainly of the street below, with a few buildings further away visible in one direction, but it was interesting, and the hotel is perfectly placed for all the main sights, the majority of which are within walking distance. It's also not far to a loop or other bus stop. Eateries and supermarkets are nearby, and you can easily walk to Korinbo and Katamachi for shopping, eating out or entertainment.
Staff were again helpful and friendly. There were no problems in forwarding my luggage and booking me a taxi to the station the morning I left. The breakfasts at this hotel are great, with heaps of buffet choices both Japanese and "Western", local specialities such as the delicious jibuni soup (I'd thought it might not be there again as it was summer, but was pleased to see it was!) and lovely dishes and plates to use for your individual gourmet meal. A lot of hotels only provide very plain crockery so these attractive pieces are an appealing bonus. Hoping to return in future!

Not sure if hotel is fairly new but it certainly felt like it, spotlessly clean, loved the reception area, staff were very professional/ courteous even when very busy, which it was at times. Room was nicely furnished, had everything I needed, slept well, comfy bed and was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was superb, so many different variety of food, hot and cold, I always looked forward to breakfast, it can get busy at peak times, I had no choice as I was in Kanazawa for work but even so I never struggled for a seat and tables were cleared and cleaned efficiently. But the best bit was the Onsen, loved this after work most days and the view was awesome.

Only one stop from Omicho Market, the location is very good, the train station is about 3-4 stops away. The rooms are average but the breakfast is always an experience. The breakfast team is very efficient and hardworking so you never have to wait for a refill.

This hotel was awesome! It was located near all the major attractions. The front desk did an excellent job booking some reservations for me. A compliment to Ms M.T. at the front desk who was very patient with me regarding buying a day shuttle pass, restaurant reservations, etc. Ms M.T. was very professional, kind, and hardworking. Her assistance really made our stay memorable. The hotel also allowed guests to borrow umbrellas. When one of our umbrellas was possibly “taken” at a nearby museum they did not charge us for the replacement. The room was comfortable. I will definitely return to this hotel in the future! Thank you for a nice stay.
