From the Kanazawa station, there are several buses to take to this hotel, including a loop service (200 yen per trip). You can also take the JR buses. Ride is about 5 mins away, and the bus stops are right in front of the hotel. (30 seconds walk). If you dont intend to drive, stay near hotels with bus stops. Get a day pass for 600 yen and you can take unlimited rides with the left loop and right loop buses, that bring you to all the tourist attractions. Board at the back and alight in front of the bus.

We got a superior room and it is fantastic to say the least. Fits 4 adults with 2 thick mattresses and 2 tatami mattress. Room is nicely decorated with fully automated toilet with the lid opening and closing by itself. Bath room is perfect with an area and stool for Jap bath (onsen like setup). There are 2 floors at level 3 and 5 where you can chill and make green tea and other drinks.

For our room, a complete tea set with a nice kettle and teapots and cups provide the experience of making your own tea with nice tea bags.

Breakfast is around 2,100 yen per pax, and must be booked before 11 pm the day before.
There is no staff on shift from 12 am to 6 am, but an emergency no. is provided if you need urgent help.

Overall, a superb stay. (oh, if you want bicycles, you can rent from the hotel as well).
There is also a cafe at level 1.

We booked a family room at the KUMU Kanazawa. The hotel is beautifully designed with shared spaces throughout. Our room was very spacious for 2 adults and 2 young children with individual futons for each of us. There was also a generous sitting area for hanging out. Separate bathroom and toilet completes the room layout.

Location-wise, the KUMU was convenient for us. A 15 minute walk from the train station and 5 minutes away from the local fish market. Other major sights are also not too far away.

Overall a fantastic hotel choice. Highly recommended!

Party of three adults stayed for 1 night in June. Nice Japanese design hotel is located within walking distance from Japan Rail station (15-minute walk). The neighborhood offers plenty of restaurant alternatives. Room was very nice and offered enough space for 3 adults with backpacks. The common areas are outstanding (On floor small kitchen, roof top terrace and laundry).

This is a very hip modern hotel full of European and Australian tourists.Although perhaps trying a bit too hard with all the rough concrete and timber interiror and tea making spaces, it was beautiful and clean and had everything we needed, including laundry. Breakfast buffett was pretty good but not extensive, We had a huge beautiful room for 3 adults so it was quite pricey, but amenities, bathroom etc were more like a luxury hotel. Staff were very nice with adequate English. The area is about a 10 minute walk to shopping and restaurants and the gardens, and about 20 minutes from the train station. There are some lovely canal-filled neighbourhoods nearby. I'm giving 4 stars only because the room was on the main road and very loud traffic all night kept us awake.

I think this hotel is pretty new, and considering that they have good reviews, we decided to try. Stayed here for 2 nights, and the location is withing walking distance from the JR station, about 1,5km. The feeling of this hotel is very Zen Japanese, with great taste of industrial decor, good aesthetically but may not be practical. The positive side about this hotel is the location, and the number of beds, there are 4 tatami bed likes, thus it is spacious enough for our family with 2 young children. There is not enough space though to lay down your luggage. They also have tea room facilities on certain floors, and a laundry room on 6th floor, so in terms of facilities and amenities, they are quite accommodating.
The rooms for improvement is that they have a strict policy of check out time at 10am. I find this quite unusual, as most hotels have at least 11 am check out time the earliest, and the staff is not very flexible on this. Second thing is the attitude of some staff. On the last day, we were hurrying up to check out at 10am, and have passed our room keys to the reception exactly at 10am, however our children is having some breakfast at the tea room on the 5th floor, and one of the staff being so unfriendly said to us, like it is now check out time, u all better hurry out. I found this gesture is very impolite, especially for Japanese. Maybe better to train your staff to be more hospitable.
We know your rules, and we have tried our best to adhere them, but you should also learn to be more flexible. You are in hospitality business let me remind you..

Very cool hotel and competitively priced. As a family of 4 we stayed in room with bunks and it was a good choice. Large room gave plenty of room for luggage as well as us to hang out in small lounge area. Shower was comfortably the best we experienced in Japan (actual water pressure!).

Well located and reasonably central to most of the points of interest in Kanazawa. The staff at checkin were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our only regret was that we stayed one night. Kanazawa is a cool city and this hotel matches it. If you aren't in a hurry could recommend staying in Kanazawa for a couple of nights at this hotel.

Not recommended.

Service is indifferent at best, employees don’t seem to care. Surprising, given it is Japan. No phones in the room either so if you need something go to the lobby. No hand towels in the bathrooms. The hotel ownership is really trying to save money here.

Rooms are spartan and many are very small with minimal room to even open a suitcase. Hotel is in a good location but opens on to a busy (and unattractive) street. As a result lots of auto noise in the rooms.

Check out time is at 10 am. Seriously what hotel has checkout that early? This is not don the web site but it is a bit buried and they don’t tell you this a check-in. But you should be aware of this because they will come around to your room at ten am and tell you that you must check out.

The design of the hotel is nice (if you like modern design which I do). Industrial chic.

The hotel is family friendly; there were a lot of families staying here with kids of all ages from infant to teen. They have laundry facilities on site (coin operated) which can be nice to have.

Breakfast is decent, not great, but enough choices most people will be satisfied.

Don’t look for amenities like ability to order room service. Won’t find it here.

Not a horrible hotel, but below average and not a good value for the price. You can do much better in Kanazawa.

We booked four bunked beds room. Room was very clean and spacious for a Japanese hotel in the price range. Very close to the bus stop. Tea spaces on 3F and 5F were stocked with good green tea! Bathroom was clean and unique. Great smelling shampoo& conditioner and body soap with natural essential oils.

We stayed for two nights the hotel is modern and nicely designed. The room clean and spacious with a nice size bathroom ,we had the one facing the main road it was a bit noisy but had no problem sleeping. The back rooms have less natural light. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I appreciated to have a western style breakfast. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We stayed here for 1 night, nice modern design hotel and rooms were clean and comfortable. Western breakfast is fine but less of selection.
Unfriendly & not helpful of reception staffs.
The main problem is the check-out time at 10am which is too early and extra cost need to pay if you want to late check out.
Will not stay this hotel in future

No microwave in the hotel. However, all the convenience stores in Japan have one and there are 2 nearby. When you buy something there you can ask them to heat it up for you.
