The staff were super friendly and helpful! They really made our trip wonderful with their advice when it came to buses and places to go. The room we had was truly amazing and, of course, super clean. We had one of the rooms with the private bath, which was amazing to soak in after a long day's walk, with a beer. The hotel's onsen is nice and very clean, with wonderful view of the town, but otherwise is fairly plain (but don't let that throw you off). We opted for the full Japanese breakfast the following day and it did not dissappoint! Everything was delicious and mostly locally sourced. Even on the things that I didn't care for, they weren't bad, just not things cared for. Even my somewhat picky daughter ate most of what we had.

The only problem with the ryokan is that it is away from the center of town - cab ride is 15,000-20,000 yen depending on traffic. It is a quiet location on the river. We had a 1 bedroom suite - the largest room we had by far in Japan. The balcony overlooking the river was lovely and even had electrical outlets for my computer. The staff doesn't speak a lot of English but they try very hard and provided excellent service from start to finish. We had dinner there and they accommodated my food preferences on the fly since my tour operator did not pass them along. We were on the same floor as the onsen and we ended up with a private bath. Western beds as we requested. The property only has 15 rooms so it was very quiet and peaceful. It was about a 10 minute walk to a shuttle bus stop

Three things make this hotel (I would not call it an inn or ryokan) special: its quiet location on the river bank lined with cherry trees yet within walking distance of all the sights, its traditional Japanese rooms with tatami mats, futons a low table and in our case a small terrace overlooking the river, plus the charming staff. Actually there is a fourth thing: the roof rob communal baths. It is not luxurious, nor particularly stylish, but you feel you are in 'real' Japan.

Passed 3 nights in that lovable spot. Everyone acted in the most friendly, attentive and Beautiful manner Fugi-hashi San in her calm way, Mo-hi San with her ring laugh, and above them all, their beautiful Takada San with her gracious gestures and her infinite attention. Unforgettable dinners and quiet, spacious and clean apartment.

Mostly recommended.

It was our first stay in Kanazawa and after two nights in the very center of Kyoto we were looking for a calm and pleasant location. The Yuyarurusaisai was perfectly located for our one-day trip, at a walking distance to most of Kanazawas cultural attractions. The staff was very friendly and it was a pleasure to stay in the elegant renovated suite room. Only the bathroom looked a bit strange to us but we could enjoy a hot bath with views to the river. Its not cheap but worth the money!

It was our first time in a traditional hotel like Yuya Ruru so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the location and overall comfort of the hotel. We stayed in a suite which was absolutely huge and had it's own outdoor hot bath, which was super nice. The beds were really comfortable and it was very nice being there, including breakfast which was a Japanese style buffet.

The location is away from the central area of the city, along the river in a fairly quiet part of town. It was a nice and easy walk to the main attractions (like 25 minutes to the castle) or a quick cab ride. I wouldn't describe this hotel as spectacular or upscale, but it was clean and quiet and a perfect base from which to explore Kanawaza.

Staying here was the highlight of our journey to Japan. The inn is wonderful, and the chef prepared kaiseki meals which were absolutely excellent showcasing local seasonal vegetables and seafood. We wish we could have stayed longer. Nice walking along the river and on the path uphill into the neighborhood. We felt quite at home. With an extra futon sleeping Japanese style was fine.

Not sure whether to call it a ryokan though it has many such features. Our room, #801, had 2 real twin beds(although a little low by US standards). But there were also futons if you want to sleep on floor. No meals served in room as in traditional ryokan.

English limited among staff but the young woman who checked us in had adequate skills. Staff tried to be very helpful and attentive to food issues raised in advance.

Previous review is wrong about distance to city. It is a 5-10 minute walk to bus stop for convenient loop shuttles that go to station and most tourist areas. Taxi to station is 1500 yen.

Beautiful Japanese interior room overlooking river and city

We booked on booking.com and we were not disappointed. We had a junior suite overlooking the river and it was great to wake up to the view. Our included breakfast was authentic and delicious. The people at the front desk were extremely helpful in finding various places to visit in the town.
