The rate for the Japanese room is quite reasonable -- you won't do better for a family of 4 (if you don't mind sleeping on futons on the floor).
They serve a nice breakfast (American or Japanese style) which is a pretty good value.
The location is very convenient to the train station, but not super-convenient to Kanazawa's main attractions. But the hotel is right on the bus loop, so you can get wherever you want to go pretty easily.
The hotel is a little on the old side, and it's not sparkly clean. The first room we went in reeked of cigarette smoke (so they put us in a different one, which did not smell.)
All in all, a good value.
Smelly. Needs a refurbishment.
Horrible.
It was awkward from start to finish.
The deeply ingrained old cooking smells were a trial every time we walked in.
That said, the people were quite nice.
