We stayed here 3 nights, perhaps a little too long. For the price we paid, we expected more but this being touristy Takayama, perhaps hotels here cost more than usual compared to other Japanese towns/cities. This hotel is best described as basic and functional, offering nothing more than perhaps a good night's rest but lacking any charm, ambience and friendly... More

Great location next to the train station. Size of room is ok by Japanese standard no thrill hotel offering basic service. Wifi works well. Check out is 10 am which is a bit early. Room is clean and well kept. Quite a number of good restaurants within walking distance.

We, a group of four persons, stayed for one night at this centrally located hotel.I were in a single bed room. Rooms was of average size. Room and toilet were clean. The breakfast is excellent and service is prompt. Person at reception was very courteous. Tea making facility was available. I liked the place and would like to recommend.

I stayed in Takayama Washington Hotel Plaza for three nights. This hotel is right in front of the JR station and bus station, so very convenient. When I checked in, I was assigned a small double room on the 3rd floor, which was very noisy (in fact most of the rooms are at the station side). As I do prefer... More

This hotel was fine for our one night in Takayama. There is nothing to rave about. It is a basic hotel with no frills but the cost is reasonable and I think it is a good value. The room, bathroom, and public spaces were very clean. The mattress was quite hard. The front desk staff did their job in a... More

Do yourself a big favour and read all the negative reviews on this place as they are all accurate. And do yourself one more favour. DONT stay here!! A hostel would be a better choice and value than The Washington. Apart from free WiFi there are no other positives. Total rip off for what you receive. We paid $300 +... More

This hotel was one of the last with rooms during my last minute spring travels to Takayama. The reviews left me feeling ok about it, but not enthusiastic. In short, my expectations were met and not exceeded. If you're expecting a budget hotel in a convenient location without anything fancy where you just want to crash after a long day... More

A good hotel choice for its location, 1 min walk from station. Room was pretty basic and standard but larger than other usual business hotel in Japan. It was clean and bright enough for me. I stayed here every time when I came to Takayama, but I also noticed that in recent years there were many new hotels set up... More

We booked to rooms for our group of 5 travelers. The rooms were comfortable and clean. One room even had a massage chair, that received a good work out. The best feature of this motel is its location. It is situated directly opposite the bus terminal - which was greatly appreciated the morning of our departure, when the rain belted... More

This hotel is old and shoddy. Lumpy bed. Terrible pillow. Unsmiling reception staff. Position is very close to train station, but that's about the only reason to stay here. And it was clean-ish...but very old. There's fake birdsong playing in the corridors... It's not well sound-proofed.
