the best thing about this hotel is it is near the town center and about a 10 minute walk from the train station. the room was just right for 4 persons. the shower area is separate from the toilet. there is a small alcove for the sink and mirror.
the shampoo, conditioner and body wash together with the facial cleanser and moisturizer that were provided were of superior quality.
the onsen was kept clean and organized.
the staff was helpful. we enjoyed our stay in this hotel.

Fairly newish hotel in Takayama and only a 10 minute walk from the station.

We booked 2 twin rooms for our family of 4. The hotel was very modern and comfortable.

We felt the buffet breakfast was not the best (some of the “hot” food options weren’t that hot). It was also strange when it came to pay the spa taxes and luggage forwarding that they asked for these in cash. When I said I wanted to use credit card they had to ask a manager.

But overall, the hotel is in a very good location - only a 30 minute walk from Hida Folk Village and evening closer to the old town parts of Takayama. Also, the wifi was excellent.

I stayed at the WAT in May last year, and found it excellent for the price. Walking distance from the Railway Station and from the centre of town. Breakfast was good, and other restaurants were only about 5 minutes walk away. We planned to stay again in May this year, and had fully paid for four nights, including buffet breakfasts on a no refund deal. Because of Corona Virus travel restrictions, we had to cancel and did not expect to get our money back. But this hotel refunded all our money , with no cancellation fee! I found this very honourable of them, especially as I'm sure times are very tough for the hotel because of the virus crisis. We highly recommend the WAT hotel, and we promise that we will stay with them when the Corona Virus crisis is over and we can get back to Japan!

This hotel was quite nice. We were in room 413, which had a bit of a view from the window. The room was a reasonable size but felt a little cramped. There was not enough clear space to open both our suitcases. There was a bar fridge and a security safe, and the WIFI was good. The room had a dehumidifier and a reverse-cycle Air Con and these worked well. There was a separate toilet room and bath/shower room. The wash basin is actually in the bedroom. The shower was good. It was hard for me to figure out how to flush the toilet (as all instructions were in Japanese). In fact, the flush works automatically if you sit on the toilet. Otherwise, the button with the two vertical bars on it is the manual flush button. The lighting was good and there is a narrow desk with a chair and also a lounge chair, Breakfast was reasonable with a good array of Japanese and Western food. Unfortunately we did not have time to use the hotel’s spa, which is what the hotel is famous for.

On the plus side, this is a new hotel, everything is clean and fresh. The onsen is great, although it can get crowded. Check in starts at 3pm, even if you arrive half an hour early you have to wait for the 3pm time. The hotel does feel a little rule bound, there is lots of signage everywhere telling you what you can or can not do. The double rooms are very small, and have many light switches, it takes for ever to work out which ones to switch off. Breakfast buffet is adequate, obviously caters more for the Japanese market which is their main audience, but does have western choices. While a Takayama is a very walkable city, the hotel is about a ten minute easy walk to the main restaurant area, which is okay except in the bleak of winter There are no dining options near the hotel, and the hotel does not offer a night time restaurant It’s also about a 15 minute walk to old area and 10 minutes to train station

This hotel is located around 500m from Takayama station. If you come during winter time and with big luggages, it might be slightly tough to walk to this hotel.

Apart from its location, this hotel was great. Check-in and out were smooth. The room was huge (we stayed in a "Hollywood Twin" room) with spacious twin beds - enough for 3-4 people. The bathroom and toilet were separated.

They had four private onsen rooms, and two public onsens, one for male or the other one for female. The buffet breakfast was amazing, with so many choices.

Considering Takayama is a small city, every place is reachable easily.

This hotel is very new. There is a lovely room at the top where you can sit and enjoy the view while listening to piano music playing. There is free coffee up there. There are free hot baths but as the family/non communal ones were outdoor ones it was a little cold to make use of them. Room was clean and modern, We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. Not far from the station..About 5 minute walk.

The bedroom was spacious; the bed and pillows were inviting, the bathroom was adequate in size and had basic amenities; there was a smart phone in the room that you could take with you while you're checked-in; the whole staff was accommodating, and the private onsen was a great option. I have stayed in different hotels and Airbnb units during my trips in Japan, and this was a great find. Our stay was relaxing, but not expensive.

Was there in December. Nice rooms...and there is also smart phone available for use in the room that you can take it out to the streets for free use.

It might had been too crowded when I was there and did not get to try the onsen. 15 minutes walk from the train station so it is relatively convenient.
