We reached JR Takayama station in the evening. We called up the ryokan from the Tourist Info centre. In a few mins, Mr. Murayama was right there to pick us up.

And for the meals, I believe you have to let them know a bit in advance. The restaurant is small and they pretty much have the meals ready when you get there.
