Went for a private with shared bath. The walls are paper thin and the tiled floors bounce all the sound. With the south American 'up all night' attitude we were kept awake by our neighbours loudly talking till midnight then our other neighbours getting intimate till the early hours. Would agree with the other reviews that this place has no...

Luckily we just stayed there for one night. The good thing is we stayed in the private double room with shared bathroom. The room is clean and no problem, same for the shared toilet / bathroom. However, the breakfast is probably the worst for our south america trip so far. Very very very basic. And for the kitchen, it has...

We went to see this hostel today hoping to find a basic but neat and tidy place for tourism. We found most of what the brochure said, but it was lower than 1 star. It looked as a "VILLA" as we say in spanish, or a "favela" in portuguese, or shanty town. Walls were not even painted. Clothes were hanged...

Only stayed here one night but were made to feel like we were an inconvenience whilst checking in. Rooms were very basic and the hostel lacked atmosphere. Not particularly clean and the location average. Would recommend trying somewhere else.

This is the worst hostel I have ever stayed at. We were planning to stay there for 3 nights, but after the 1st night I discovered I had bedbugsbites all over me. I quietly told the lady at the reception and asked for a free night. She said it was not possible but she gave me a discount. The medicines...

This is a pretty poor choice of accomodation if you are going to Colonia. Your first clue would be the ravingly bad reviews here, which I unfortunately failed to check before I went there myself. The price is 300 Peso for the cheapest dorm without bathroom, but they rapidly declined to 260, which is still way overpriced for what you get....

I've stayed in some bad places in my time and had to deal with some shoddy service but this place really took the biscuit. Checked in first evening and went for a walk, got back to bedroom at about midnight and tried to go to sleep ... couldn't stop itching myself and thought I must have been bitten by some...

This place has no atmosphere and terrible rooms. The beds are uncomfortable and look far from clean. The staff were not welcoming and we even felt like we were a burden while we checked in. The worst part of it all are the terrible toilets, the seats aren't attached so when you put them on you have to be careful...

No frills, but a nice enough place to spend the night in Colonia. He rooms are old but clean. The lounge area is nice and airy and the breakfast is okay. Colonia is a tiny place, so it doesn't really matter where you stay, but this place is located only a couple of blocks from the port and bus station...

Hostel El Espanol is located close to Old Town and river port (ferry to BA) and is ok for one night stay, when you are just for short visit in Uruguay. Big dorm with bathroom was quite clean. WiFi was only in common area. Small breakfast included.
