The hostel is centrally located, between the historic downtown and both the bus and ferry stations. I found the location very convenient. I visited this hostel in the off season, so there were not too many guests. This is a fairly large hostel. My four bed dorm was spacious with one bunk-bed, two single beds, a night stand, one table...

I stayed in this Hostel just before Christmas for six days and had a really nice stay. Nice lounge area with large TV and fully equiped kitchen, and lovely courtyard area with tables and chairs in and out of the sun. The owner and his family were very friendly, and the rooms and bathrooms were all kept clean. A good...

Rather large but quiet hostel in central Colonia, on the main street. 24/7 reception with very helpful staff, of which several also speak English. There are several quite spacious twin, quadruple and dorm rooms, with real walls and a good feeling of privacy. The beds are not new but in good condition, bedlinen are fresh, and overall the hostel is...

Stayed in a private room, was pretty cold but clean and comfortable. They have bikes that you can hire which is a nice way to see the town. And you are only a short walk from the historic centre of this beautiful Uruguayan city.

We were here for 2 days in August, dead of winter. 4 bathrooms seemed plenty, but it is off season. Husband got a full hot water shower, I used a different bathroom (and *pressumably* a different hot water tank) and only got 1 minute of hot water. US$19 per person for a double was expensive but that seems to be...

I stayed in The Colonial for 4 days during the off-season and had a dorm to myself. It was cosy comfortable and clean. I thought that it was expensive and the spartan breakfast was a disgrace. Never in my travels have I been given such an abomination under the guise of "breakfast". Saying that there is free internet, bicycles and...

They are located right on the main street, just a few blocks from everything. A two minute walk will have you in the heart of old town. Once past reception you will find yourself in a beautiful courtyard surrounded by the doorways to their charming rooms. The staff were all very helpful (and bilingual). The inexpensive breakfast was personally delivered....

From the minute we walked in the door I knew this hostel was going to be good. The receptionists were very friendly and accommodating and continued to be so throughout our stay. The hostel is unlike any other, with lots of plants and flowers and an open-air central terrace on the first floor, and rooms circling around and looking down...

Hostel Colonial has a nice courtyard and common room area, where guests can relax watching television, reading or chatting. There are also a few computers provided or you can connect to the reasonably fast (depending on how many people are using it) wifi connection using your own laptops. The wooden shuttered rooms are lovely: bright, clean and airy as is...

Very easy to find from the bus station in colonia, as there are signs everywhere. The whole town was very quiet when we came here. The hostel was also quiet. Nice big place, rooms are a good size. However there are NO lockers, and security was very lax - people just walk in and out. They have very small boxes...

“The rooms are all good. Its a old building with old doors so you can hear people walking and talking but its not a party hostel so for me it was not a problem. Thats normal when you stay in a hostel I think.”

“We stayed on the back, and it was great. Second time we stayed on the first floor and it was also just fine. I think there's not a lot of difference in the rooms.”
