Situated halfway between Colonia and Montevideo, this estancia is run by a young couple from S Africa and France....her parents planted the original vines imported from France, and they bring the right touch to the level of service, the cuisine and the general ambience. Perfect for a couple's weekend getaway with a European level of service and cuisine. We were...

the staff in the hotel was very friendly, English speaking. there are a lot of things to do in or around the hotel. apart from the swimming pool, there is a room with games like baby-foot, etc..., you can also play "bochas", or go for a ride and/or a biking tour. before going by bike, ensure it is working properly....

Little three star city hotel on the countryside, little to do when it rains. No AC in the bedrooms and no covered pool. Set menu with almost no options if you want to change it. We were expecting an asado at least on Saturday night. We got chicken casserole with rice. French fries were not available for the 3 &...

Staff were so friendly and helpful. The food and rooms and wine were all amazing!! Picturesque setting. There are lots of activities, so although you are in the middle of nowhere you always have something to do. I would definitely recommend this place for some R & R.

This is a special place. The setting is gorgeous among the slightly rolling hills and farmlands and Vinyards. The building is beautiful and nicely decorated. The rooms, though on the small side, are more than sufficient since there are lots of indoor and outdoor places to sit. The bathroom was new and quite nice. The quality of the food was...

From the moment that we arrived we felt at home. Ines, the manager, and Matilda, we're welcoming and helpful. Florent, the intern chef and waiter, was great. The food was delicious, most made from products of the Estancia. The yoghurt was the best I have ever had. We picked grapes, relaxed, stargazer, and took two amazing horse rides with gaucho....

We were attempting to book an estancia in Argentina but didn't have luck with the place so we looked for one in Uruguay. The reviews for this property were high and we booked it. The drive to this property from the ferry station is a beautiful one. Rolling hills, very green. When we arrived there were no other cars, I...

Great Eco tourism site. Lots of options for any interest. It is a very impressive multiple use estancia. The hosts are multilingual to meet the needs of any group. Expanding over 1000 hectares in Mahoma hills, Finca Piedra reveals the authentic Uruguayan country life with the sophisticated European style. It is located only 125 km from Montevideo (with direct access by bus) and 110 km from Colonia. Its convenient location allows access from Buenos Aires in just two and a half hours. Finca Piedra offers comfortable rooms with en suite bathrooms, decorated in traditional style and set according to the building where they are located. Wi-fi access is available free of charge in all of the common areas of the estancia. Our Franco-Uruguayan kitchen team prepares delicious meals boasting the best flavors from both cultures. Our homemade wines harmoniously complete your meal. We also cater separate menus for diabetics, vegetarians, gluten-free or other special diets (with advance notice). At Finca Piedra we offer a wide variety of free and guided activities so everybody can enjoy each moment at their own pace. Whether on horseback, carriage, walking or biking, you will marvel at the surrounding natural landscapes: the Mahoma hills natural reserve, our 20 hectares of vineyards, La Coronilla stream and the "lakes". You'll be able to observe the rich bird life and flora during these outings. We also offer special activities for children such as participating in the milking of the cow, tours of our animal farm, a games room with amenities such as a ping-pong table, foosball, a pool table and a trampoline, a bocce ball court, a volleyball court, a football field, a racquetball court and of course our outside pool with vineyard views. ... more   less
