Be careful there will soon be two Mercure hotels very different from each other in Lim Mae Pim...don't get confused!
This one is a pretty, quite small establishment located on the beach in a village about 200km from BKK.
The place is charming and well placed close to many restaurants, the hotel is tastefully decorated but with a lack of practicality. Storage has not been provided in the rooms and you have to keep some of your belongings in your luggage because there is no drawer or shelf for your linen, which gives a feeling of not being there to stay but to always be on the move.
The sink is in the bedroom and not in the bathroom, its lighting does not illuminate what is necessary, as in the rest of the room where there is no shortage of lights but are often useless and complicated to manage.
The pool is relatively small and is just good for taking a dip but not for swimming, however the beach next to it is very good.
The breakfast buffet is very good and varied (much better than at the Novotel 15km away) with a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea but the comfortable seats become impractical for eating because they are much too low.
There are no deckchairs around the pool but very large mattresses which are very difficult to move to stay in the shade during the day and the parasols are also quite heavy.
Many dogs sometimes frequent the hotel, which can create a noise nuisance and above all leave hairs on the armchairs and mattresses around the swimming pool and the bar...which are not systematically cleaned.
A pleasant hotel for a short stay but ultimately not comfortable enough for longer...too "flashy".

The room we had was a good size, was clean and smelt fresh when we walked in, the bed was very comfortable. The shower hose should be replaced it was like a hose. It was disappointing that the Fresco restaurant was closed as the others that were open in Mae Pim were mainly seafood ones and for what was on offer were expensive.
Breakfast at the hotel was a good one.
The locals do like to hit the beach with pick up music at a high level n the evenings.
Mae Pim is a lovely safe family beach, such a pity it was so dirty with polystyrene, plastics and assorted other rubbish that the tide had dumped there and no one seemed to be bothered to clean the place up, not sure we will be back.

We had nice rooms overlooking the beach and the main street but there were some issues with cleanliness. Hair on the sink and a can used as an ashtray left on the balcony. No safety box and the A/C was not very efficient.
The pool area is quite nice, but there are only a few sunloungers. The pool bar served tasty thai dishes but would be nice to have even a couple of more drink options than just Chang and some sodas.
Breakfast was ok but so full of customers that we had to wait for a table for about 15 minutes. The staff was friendly but only one of the ladies in the reception spoke english. Location of the hotel is good, very central in Mae Pim.
Nothing to do with the hotel but keep in mind if going to Mae Pim; there are no pharmacies/drug stores there. The nearest one is about 5 km away. Just saying, since usually you find them in every (touristy) village in Thailand.
We didn't go to the beach 'cos there were warning signs about sandflys that bite painfully.
Anyways, Mae Pim Resort is quite basic, oldish, hotel but good value for money.

Have stayed here many times over the years but its not what it was I am afraid to say. the price has gone up and the offer has gone down, cheap plastic cups in the room and no towels at the swimming pool. Not surprised that the hotel was almost empty.

We stayed in the Mae Pimm for two nights on our way to Ko Samed. The exterior of the hotel is shabby and dated and doesn't really promise comfortable accommodation, so we shouldn't really have been surprised with the interior. Staying in a double room, I was initially disappointed with the quality of the furnishings and the worn decor, these rooms definitely need refurbishment. However, I have to say that the air con was really effective and I slept extremely well in the spotlessly clean bed. We had a sea view room with a balcony too small to even place a chair on, so it was a waste of time really. The room service staff knocked you up out of bed before nine am each day, wanting to clean the room - not what you want when on holiday. Breakfast was served in a surprisingly elegant dining room but was mediocre in quality and not really worth getting up for. There was a vast amount of building work being carried out that was inevitably noisy and which disturbed our sleep early mornings. Hotel reception staff were not particularly helpful and appeared disinterested in the needs of hotel guests, which we were surprised at. Although I think it has potential, I wouldn't hurry back to the Mae Pimm Resort and wouldn't recommend it to friends.

I went with my finacee to this hotel in March 2012.

On the positive side, it was cheap, the staff were very nice, the room was very comfortable, and the breakfast was also very nice with plenty to eat. I read a previous review about a really nice mother and her twins at breakfast. We also got great treatment from this person and treated us very well. The hotel offered free internet (a huge plus for me), and the channels on the TV gave a good selection. There are many restaurants not far from the hotel and you can eat many different types of food. We also ate each day on the beach restaurants (like tents on the sand), but the food was very tasty.

But on a less positive note, our room was a "Superior Sea View", but we could not see the sea at all. The beach was only across the road but we could only see the very high trees and market stalls (market restaurants etc). I did not find the area particularly attractive and there was sometimes (and only sometimes I want to stress) quite a strong smell coming from somewhere outside (not sure what the smell was... and don't want to know). But the biggest drawback was that there was no pool! This meant that we only had our room to retreat to when we came back to the hotel.

But keep an eye on this hotel. We saw the plans for the new hotel as well as what they have done so far. When finished, it looks like it will be a really nice HUGE hotel and appears to then be definitely worth a visit. The new pool is very large and deep and there look to be many lovely new rooms planned. We may make a trip back after it has been finished.

Be prepared for a very long taxi ride from the Bangkok bus terminus (Bun Pae) (about 30 mins I think... maybe more). But it only costs 60 baht each I think, so can't complain there.

We previously stayed in the Villa Bali Resort, and had such a bad experience - no shower for 5 days and cockroaches crawling everywhere-even up my legs when I was having a shower -when it worked!! The location of Mae Pim Resort Hotel is out of this world, we had a corner room with a massive balcony - it was breathtaking - the breakfast was okay, a lot of choices, but not really what I liked, but not the worst I've ever had. The Staff were all good, we spoke to everyone at breakfast even one of the family members with her twins, the family couldn't do enough for us, and even asked us to write to them! The beach is beautiful, it was New Year in Thailand when we were there, and this is where the locals go on holiday. The food is so fresh, we love seafood, and the fishermen bring their catches to the beach in the morning to sell in the local market, so the food on the beach is the best in Thailand. The nightlife is mainly Restauants with some music, but the locals like singing in the bar next to the Villas Bali, we went a couple of times, and were welcomed with open arms, it was like being at home, we joined the locals and had a really good time.

There is not much local transport from what I have seen, if you don't have your own transport it might be difficult, there seems to be a song teau to Klaeng about every hour but would rely on it and there is little there. Rayong is about an hour to the west
