A tranquil oasis from the relentless pace of life, a supportive environment for our guests to relax, explore and create. This ethos is reflected through the accommodation in which every room is unique with pieces from Elsie's collection of artifacts, textiles and rugs tastefully placed throughout the accommodation. Situated a stones throw from Thailand's famous beaches in an unspoiled rural setting our retreat is the perfect place to get away from it all and as well as enjoying the onsite facilities which include pool, pool table, interactive gardens, yoga/art studio and cooking classes, there are a multitude of activities, landscapes and landmarks within walking, cycling and a short scooter trip. These include, national parks, markets, temples, MMA, restaurants both Thai and foreign, paddle boarding and plenty more.

Wow! This is truly a great escape! An Art School, Bed & Breakfast and a peaceful retreat! From the moment you enter the grounds, you feel the calm and serenity. Lush gardens seemed to envelop me into this beautiful home. Life as it should be... art by day, walks on the beach, chillin’ by the pool and watching the birds take their baths. They also seem very happy to be there.
Mrs. Evans is a super gifted Artist and Instructor with work but for me, it’s the heartwarming attention to details (which is semi-southern girls from the US call LOVE).
It’s just 3 hours from Bangkok Sustainability is a daily effort with the food she grows and all the seeds planted for an even more lovely garden which her youngest son grew from scratch. I relaxed so much that I barely took a handful of pics... What a great investment in my sanity!!!

I had the pleasure of staying with Elsie for 5 days and it exceeded my expectations by a long shot! The place is just as you see in the pictures if not better and the rooms are very comfortable and upkept. Her studio is beautiful and even she took me around town to plein air paining as well as showing me her favorite local spots to eat and hangout. The food is outstanding, Elsie and her family are so welcoming and inviting, and the art is beautiful. If you are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime retreat, I believe this would be it!

Let’s start with the beautiful, highly artful residence where we checked into our lovely, homely rooms. Reservations were made with ease, expectations of service and art experience were met and surpassed!!!! The surprise yoga sessions, massage on command, cold, pool side drinks, and beautiful, self made art to bring home. I will sign up to do this again.

We spent a memorable weekend at Elsie's Art Retreat. Beautiful home, wonderful hospitality, a library full of books and access to daily art lessons from the talented owner/host/artist herself.
Quiet and fun beach just a short walk away... lovely walking and biking trails a short drive away. Will definitely return and recommend !

Luxury it ain't being a 3* homely and basic place. Dated residence that needs freshening up, not so strong on hygeine. Would suit people wanting a cheap and casual experience. Not keen on dogs staying in the place. There are some great local artists in Thailand but Mrs Evans isn't one of them.

Travelling home with my own first attempt of an oil painting, I realise this is the place to be when there is that need to get out of town and go back to discover yourself. 2.5 hrs from Bangkok and 2 min from the beach, a contemporary architectural retreat tastefully furnished with art and surrounded with wonderful vegetation awaits with tasty home cooked treats and/or easy access to food from local cafes and restaurants. Dip into the pool, chat to new friends and meet Elsie! What a special person - words cannot express how amazing she is, you must just come and find out yourself, enjoy her teaching you, how to paint, using a variety of materials, or, if you are an artist yourself, benefit from bouncing off ideas and stories. Whether you travel on your own, as a couple or family, there is space for everyone and the fabulous open kitchen, living, deck or studio allow for chats with others or time on your own. You can also enjoy tours around the region or just the little town, all organised within minutes and without hassle. We loved the place and feeling of a genuine art retreat.

I booked this place because i was curious to see so many 5 stars.
If there were 6 stars, 7 stars, i would give it to Elsie, The lady who owns and runs this place with her son Michael, for their PERSONAL service of 7 stars. For their involvement, for making guests feel at home, for not running just a resort, but making each person feel important and making everyone relaxed. for running the last mile to make you comfortable, for providing such brilliant home cooked breakfast, for caring, for the happy feel, for the great serene and GREEN place they have.
Just go a CHILL. relax in the room, lie down on the grass, plunge in the swimming pool, read books ( they have enough to last a year or more) and rejuvenate yourself, added with a great massage on the balcony in cool breeze.
Beautiful small little resort with just 4 cottages PLUS huge amount of love and care. In a quiet area, 1 kms from the beach ( please dont stay near the beach, too much noise)
Don't miss it if you want to be on your own, OR you want your children to have the best of time jumping around and enjoying the chirping birds and her pet dogs.

A picture-perfect, tranquil setting, you will feel lost in relaxation as soon as you arrive. Coming from Bangkok, it was exactly what is needed. The main house has been designed by a genius, its set slightly to one side so you get the sea breeze flowing straight through. Downstairs is open plan with a pool in the middle which makes it an incredibly social place with lots of guests to speak too, you can also have your own privacy with the bungalows set back from the house in this amazingly beautiful garden which is nurtured by Micheal, who works tirelessly in the garden to give guests an incredible setting which just makes the ambiance so much more perfect. Elsie has a wicked sense of humour and had me laughing the whole stay, not only a talented artist and teacher an amazing hostess too! I was fortunate enough to stay in the ‘Princess Suite’ the room has a private entrance with greenery flowing from all angles with a private porch area with seats all around. The room has a four poster bed and a very comfortable mattress! The whole place was spotlessly clean and the maids work hard to keep it that way. The location is great with a short walk or drive to the beach where you will find local restaurants and beach bars.
I will be back, can’t wait to see the gardens continuous improvements, keep up the good work, Elsie & Mike!

This is officially our favourite weekend getaway. We are a family with a 5 year old daughter and we’ve stayed at the art retreat 3 times now and each time has been better than the last. It is owned and managed by a friendly Scottish artist called Elsie ( and her lovely sons ) who used to reside in Bangkok.
The location is quiet and very private with picturesque gardens and cozy interior design making it feel like home away from home. The beds in the room are very comfortable and the warm decor is unique. The rooms and bathrooms are always very clean, with some appliances (microwave, kettle, sink, coffee/tea) in a mini kitchen area. The pool is lovely and the spacious land is fantastic for children to run around and explore encouraging outdoor play away from the city. They can pick fruit, flowers and feed the giant fish in the pond. Its also nice to have a glass of wine at the bar while my daughter swam in the pool.
Kids can participate in an art class in the huge art studio with Elsie or play outside whilst the adults take an art class in the studio. My daughter really enjoyed the art class by Elsie - a fantastic teacher, keeping her class engaging in a relaxed atmosphere.
For food -The breakfast spread is always impressive and other meals are normally home cooked and delicious -It depends what you like eating. We also loved exploring the restaurants (yummy seafood!) in Rayong which are all only about 5-20 minutes away from the retreat.
The closest beach is only 10-minute drive away but there are other nice beaches and places to explore such as the waterfalls, the aquarium and fishing lakes as well. Elsie’s son helped organize a boat trip with a group of people for the day to explore the surrounding islands and to snorkel. It was a perfect day and it was our daughters first time snorkeling.
All in all we always have a great time there. It truly is a retreat in every essence of the word - a great way to recharge, away from the city.

This is a beautiful place. Elsie is a fabulous hostess and a great teacher. But you don't have to stay here as an art retreat, it is a lovely property, in a glorious garden - peaceful and restorative. Everything was perfect for a restful, calming break. If you want to paint the facilities are great and Elsie is an inspiring and friendly teacher. I have no artistic bent but just messing about with paint was hugely enjoyable. I will definitely return.
