What a magical place...from the moment you arrive at the Mangosteen you feel so welcome and an instant sense of calm. The resort is located on a picturesque hillside location with amazing views from the pool and restaurant area. I stayed in a superior jacuzzi villa which had beautiful decor and was cleaned immaculately everyday. When I arrived there were fresh flowers throughout my room and a fresh fruit platter that was topped up everyday. Toiletries are also topped up on a daily basis. The resort is very eco-friendly, refraining from using any plastic and recycling its own water. As part of my stay I booked a Wellness Escape package, which was excellent value for money and so enjoyable. I had 3 healthy meals cooked for me and a treatment at the spa everyday, as well as access to yoga and meditation classes. Yoga on the beach was a beautiful morning :) There is also a free shuttle from the hotel to the beach every hour which was super convenient. However, the absolute best thing about this resort is the staff who are all phenomenal. Thank you to Kat and Jooky on reception who made me feel so welcome and were so helpful in helping me to book my day trips from the resort. Thank you to all the amazing spa team who looked after me so well and to Dr. Nezeem for his really helpful Ayurvedic consultation with lots of health guidance. I highly recommend booking some treatments at the spa- green tea wrap, mud wrap, and the coconut oil massage were my favourites. Also, the view from the sauna is incredible! Thank you to all the restaurant staff for their delicious food and brilliant service. This resort is perfect if you're wanting to recharge and find some peace. I can't wait for my next trip :)

🙏🙏🙏 Your review is the best reward for our team! We are happy and love 😍 to hear how much you enjoyed our little paradise and our team. You came during a busy time, which we had to master with less than usual staff, but it seems it all worked out well. We have plans for further improvements and when you return, certainly you will notice. After the long Covid break, it felt like reopening the resort again, not that we had been closed for a long time, but there were few guests. Now, things are slowly getting back to normal, and we are grateful for this. Kat and Jooky say hello, greeting you and also thanking you for the fantastic 🏝️ feedback. Thank you very much for everything!

Definitely would recommend this resort and look forward to a return visit. The rooms are truly outstanding - very spacious, extremely clean and well kept, comfortable beds, awesome shower and overall A++. The pool and the grounds were beautiful in every way and are just another example of how great the staff is as keeping everything up in an extraordinary manner. Everyone was very gracious and helped us rent a car, book a trip to Phi Phi Islands, and even find a spot where I could get a hair cut. Everyone went out of their way to be of service. A++ here too. We had dinner in restaurant three times and all meals very very good. One night we had a multi course tasting menu and it was outstanding. The only improvement here could be breakfast, which was good but could have used a little more flair or variety, especially after eating for a week. Yes there are eggs cooked to order, but otherwise it is a regular buffet with the same items every morning. Yoga class was excellent for the morning I attended. Two things to note- other reviews talk about walking to beaches and restaurants and this is not realistic. This location has wonderful breezes and views, and is up on a hill, but you are not walking distance to shopping, eating or the beach. Take a taxi or rent a car - both are very easy and inexpensive to do. Lastly, while spa prices are fair for the Ayurveda services, they are not in line with local prices for basic massages. You can find a number of excellent day spas close by offering traditional and Thai massage for 300 bhat. It’s hard to justify the mark up at the resort. This was the only service that I felt was better elsewhere. Overall, this was an exceptional resort and it exceeded all expectations.

Thank you 🙏 so much for the excellent and detailed review. We are incredibly happy to read it, as there has been nothing negative to report at all. Concerning the breakfast, we kept the buffet small and served all other dishes freshly, due to the low occupancy. This is slowly getting better now, so the buffet will grow. The list of freshly cooked meals is quite long however and includes wellness options too. Anyway, there will be more buffet choices very soon. Concerning the Spa, we mainly offer retreat packages, which are quite inexpensive. For example, the Wellness Escape includes 2 daily healthy meals, life-drinks, 2 hours of daily Yoga and one-hour daily massage is an exceptionally good option (currently at 2.600 Baht per day, minus the promotional discounts offered depending on the season). Also, our Spa Buffet "Sukko" package is attractively priced. Anyway, obviously we won't want to compete with the outside massage services, as no hotel does, and it is also not relevant in terms of quality. Thanks again for your great comments and we are looking forward seeing you again!

This resort offers wonderful food, service and relaxing surroundings for the more refined traveler. From the moment you arrive there is no limit to satisfying your every need. The bungalows are luxurious and stylish creating a very relaxing atmosphere with high ceilings and outdoor showers. The super king size bed and lounge area add great comfort. Each bungalow is surrounded by tropical gardens and have well lit paths to the pool and restaurant area. The restaurant is superbly situated above the pool and resort grounds giving views of the local islands and bays. The menu is overseen by long time executive chef “rod” and is of the highest quality of local and internationally sourced products. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner you will not find any reason to leave the resort, but if you need the urge to explore, the reception area has a great selection of excursions and attractions to experience. Phuket town, Patong, and most major attractions are within a 20 minute drive from the resort. The beach front shopping and dining district of Rawai is only 1.5 kilometres away where you can choose and have your food cooked for you, doesn’t come any fresher than that. The resort has its own wellness and spa centre catering for yoga, massage and dietary plans, it also has a fully equipped gym. The pool covers a large area snaking around the restaurant, pool bar and island all connected by bridges and paths. The pool area offers a great view of the bays and islands wether in the water or relaxing on one of the sun beds or lounges. In summing up this resort caters for those who wish to do as little or as much as you wish. The management team, house, restaurant and reception staff offer the finest of service and are more than happy to help you have the most wonderful and memorable experience possible. I have stayed here in 2018, 2020 and will be many more years to come. I personally rate this resort 10/10 Regards Martin McFarlane

Thank you very much Martin! Thanks for your visit and for the time you invested to write the nice review. It was nice meeting you and Leisa here at the resort, which is closed in the meantime. We are also very happy to know that you will be back and to see you again. Right now is a difficult time for everybody, Phuket is locked down as many other parts of the world are. We are using the time to work on so many things, hard to do when the resort is busy and we will of course be back again. Thanks again and we wish you all the best, stay healthy and see you again soon. Rose & Hajo.

This place is magical. From reception to the very sad good-byes, we wanted for nothing. We were received with the staff meeting us at the private car they arranged for us from the airport. They took our bags then lead us to seats in their comfortable lobby over looking the beautiful bay. They had refreshing drinks and a cold, beautifully scented, wash clothes waiting for us. Checking in was a breeze, seriously there was this magical beautiful breeze coming through the reception.
Our room was spacious and beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice.
The service was above and beyond, we wanted for nothing or if we did... they moved heaven and earth to accommodate us.
Everyone was friendly and full of smiles.
The restaurant manager's laugh was contagious, we really enjoyed him. The food was all amazing, the best I have EVER had in all the resorts I have ever been to, and I have traveled! I ate from every menu they offered and loved it all.
The resort is clean, manicured, lacking for nothing.
The spa is heaven on earth. The Dr. was so accommodating and tailored our treatments to our individual goals. We got the all inclusive and then treated ourselves above and beyond and I highly recommend you do the same. The masseuses' all had such beautiful healing hands, not sure how you teach that, but they all had the gift.
Do not hesitate to go to this beautiful magical place to feed your mind, your body and your soul. It will not disappoint.

Hmm, what to answer? I honestly don't know what to say other than, a huge thanks! Working in the hospitality industry can be hard work, long hours and very challenging in times of crisis, but it can also be very rewarding! You are rewarding us with your kind words, which really makes everybody happy here. Trust me, all the team will read your review. But don't get me wrong, we are reading the negative ones too and they are also important, but this is nicer to read. :) Thank you again for your visit, it was nice meeting you and we're looking forward welcoming you again.

The resort is very nice and has a nice non-chemical clean pool wraps around the complex, perfect for hot & humid place like Phuket. Staffs as well as owner are extremely friendly and helpful and the resort has offers various massage programs. Breakfast buffet is excellent with fresh fruits and is included in hotel stay. The only drawback is, location is secluded and quite far from all the activities and have to take taxis everywhere.

It was nice having you Jonathan and thanks 🙏 for the 5 bubbles review. Glad it was worth the long travel and hope seeing you again in the near future. Concerning the location, if I may add that there is no place in Phuket, where you don't need taxis. This really applies to all hotels, if you like to see the beautiful Big Buddha, Chalong Temple, the Walking Street in Phuket's Old Town etc. These places are only accessible by taxi anyway, but I know, you managed very well to see a lot of our amazing Island and got around well. Wishing you all the best and see you again.

I spent the most amazing week here last February and honestly felt like I was in paradise. Our villa was spacious and situated in the middle of lush greenery, so I was greeted by the most beautiful sight when I opened my curtains every morning. I loved relaxing under the sun by the big pool, and dining on the most amazing Thai food al fresco in their restaurant overlooking the pool. We ordered the seafood basket (I think you have to order it a day in advance so that the chef can buy the seafood fresh from the local market that morning for you), and it was an incredible selection of fresh fish, mussels, shrimp, and lobster.

Also, the mangosteen soap and shampoo provided by the resort smelled so lovely that I bought some from the gift shop to take home with me. Now when I use it at home, the scents bring back memories of the amazing week I spent in Phuket.

The liquids you brought back home are all made from the Mangosteen fruit by a local producer, especially for us. When they are used up, please come back to refill your stock 😃. A second stay for us with our dear friends from Brisbane, Phil & Cheryl who are club members.
Nothing had changed much in the few years that had past, service of the highest standard, food of plenty, cocktails to reel the senses,a glorious, clean maintained swimming pool, throw in a massage after a big day of playing tourist, with a little shopping. And what do you get,a lovely clean air conditioned huge villa to go home to, with an exceptional stocked mini bar fridge. Thank you to the lady who always kept our room, so clean & tidy.

To all the staff that looked after us, especially the crew at reception, thank you for organising our tours, transport etc etc and to " IAN " the birthday boy / and manager your guidance and help re - other restaurants to try, suggestions in general were a great help.
Thank you so much and all the very best to you IAN and all your staff for making our holiday so much fun and memorable - again. Aussie Mike & Anne.

Thanks for the great review and of course, for your second visit. You are always welcome and certainly we will work on further improvements all the time. In 2010, we have been managed by Golden Tulip for a duration of maybe one year, so this is over long time. Wondering why you still know and remember this name? Anyway, thanks for your 5 points and we are looking forward welcoming you again soon.

The best relaxing way to finish up our trip before the long flight back home. My concern with booking a night in the Rawai area to check it out. was that it would be too dirty of any area and have limited things to do. However, the Mangosteen, was just far enough at about a 10 minute walk from the busy street area to be a pleasant oasis of peace, and yet walkable to everything we wanted such as interesting restaurants and street shopping and things to do. The rawaii area is similar to the canguu area in Bali which is what my research found beforehand and I can verify was true. A lot of character with healthy restaurants and where many of the Americans and Europeans go to live. We walked to the nearby restaurant Red Duck for the best Thai food we had on our trip there and took the free shuttle bus to the Nai harn beach nearby for an additional half-day of swimming and shopping. We also took a 25 minute taxi ride to the Sunday walking market in old Phuket town and a five minute taxi ride to Rawai Beach for shopping and massages, as well as a 10 minute taxi ride to Rawai seafood market, where are you get to pick live seafood for them to cook at the restaurant across the street. We also booked an in house spa massage which was very relaxing, but similar to the ones outside of the resort which are cheaper. The resort staff and food were amazingly nice and friendly and professional and always around whenever we needed them. There was absolutely no pressure to tip but whenever we did they gave a reaction of sincere appreciation which was nice, so don’t forget to tip a little something to their staff baggage handlers and staff every chance you get, even the equivalent of 1-3 US dollars goes a very long way for them. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy.

🙏 Thanks for the 5-bubbles and the detailed description of your experiences. Your description of the area is certainly useful for other readers. Thanks also for the recommendation. Rawai area isn't dirty, it is a nice mix of residential and touristic buildings, it is walkable and still keeps a lot of its original local flair. Come to Rawai if you want to experience Thailand and avoid the crowded west coast.

Lovely place - so many helpful staff that are ever so friendly and polite. Just great to relax by the pool with a book or light cocktail. Or getting a massage by professional hands.
Yoga instructor made sure everyone had what was needed before class started. Even when we returned from an outing the staff at reception checked if we were okay and offered water (sometimes flavoured) and if we needed anything.

Lovely guests! Thank you so much for taking the time to review Mangosteen with 5 points. It's nice to hear you enjoyed our service and the kindness of the team. We are going through difficult times, everyone is. It is now we can really experience the loyalty of the team and how we all stick together. It is a great pleasure working with such an amazing team and it hurts to see them suffering and to see few guests at the resort. The positive spirit however prevails and so, we will use the time until things get back to normal, working on many improvements. When traveling resumes, we will be ready and even better. Thailand's number 1 Ayurveda Resort is adding more Ayurveda facilities and a new menu with many new treatments. Thanks to all our guests for their loyalty, for coming back so many times and if you had to cancel your next visit, we know you are coming back.

Mangosteen is true gem of a place. An oasis of calm in a beautiful, tropical and spacious retreat. It is truly a boutique retreat as you have great personal attention from everyone from the spa and kitchen team through to the resort owners. I went largely for the Ayurvdic pratice there and Dr Nazeem's treatment, but others went for Wellness. Either way the massages and other treatments at the spa are exceptional and the food really delicious (even when following a few days detox). the Yoga studio offers an unrivalled view over the bay. I learnt much from the too short week, and the programme with Dr Nazeem. The villas are huge, hectagonal in structure, elegant and very comfortable and are not overlooked in any way. Its a no plastic resort which I also loved, you have a copper water bottle on arrival and drinking water throughout. A week was too short so I would really recommend 2, particularly if you are flying long haul, as I was. A few things to note. There are quite a few stairs around the property given the nature of its construction. These can be overcome mostly by choosing a room which is nearer the reception rather than further down the property. Note that the beach is a short shuttle away but is lovely, and there are some fabulous island trips to do if you are, like me, a fan of snorkelling. I hope to return and thank all the team at Mangosteen for an exceptional week!

Indeed, one week for the program is the minimum, 2 weeks are much better, if you can spare the time. Thank you so much and 🎅 Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We hired a scooter for a few days and had great fun scooting about everywhere. There is a scooter hire near the entrance from the main road or you can hire one from resort. We went up to visit the big buddha on the scooter which was very exhilarating. We also caught a bus into Patong from the seafront. We walked down to the seafront from the resort but it is quite far to walk especially in heat. You will have a great time, the resort is fantastic.

It is salt water treated. Normal table salt is added for the salt water treatment system to work. The water therefore is sanitized and 100% safe, however no chemical is used and it is very soft and there is no smell from chlorine or anything. Also, we allow guests to use it 24 hours a day, because we don't add chemicals at night.
