This is a three star hotel, but it is a good one. Everything is a little old, you know, well lived in. The deluxe rooms are simply not. But what they are, are clean and we'll maintained. The double beds are huge, the A/C quiet and efficient and the WiFi perfectly adequate. The resort boasts two swimming pools which are great, but the sunbeds are very limited. They do advertise a bar, but in 7 nights we were the only people I saw that uses it. I mean why would you when the main drag is literally two mins away? Reception wasn't 24hours but they were very helpful. The gardens were lovely and really helped boost the aesthetic. Rawai beach is two mins walk, Seafood Market a 10 min stroll away and a plethora of quality restaurants in easy reach. For my money this restaurant is great value for money, but not recommend for those expecting the earth without paying for it

You can’t beat this accommodation for location if you are planning on staying in Rawai. (By the way Rawai is a great place to stay, it is much quieter than the tourist beaches.) Straight across the road from the accomodation is the magnificent water views, short walk to cafes, bars and all that Rawai has to offer. However the accommodation doesn’t quite live up to the photos that are listed on its website. I found the one bedroom suite only just had the basics and was certainly in need of a refurbishment. The shower was a bit of a nightmare with having to regulate the temperature by adjusting a small hot water heater which was located in the shower. There were a number of resident roosters 🐓 that crowed at anytime of the day or night. Breakfast was included and had a variety of differing foods which included fried eggs to accommodate those from a western culture. The two pools look inviting and were kept clean. If you don’t book poolside accommodation you don’t get to use the pool lounger chairs but can still use the pools. However if you do book poolside accommodation your privacy is certainly sacrificed. I booked a one bedroom with garden view because of this fact. I did find the tiles on the steps getting into the pool quite sharp as it appears they haven’t grouted these tiles and so are quite raised to walk on and they are slippery. Overall a great location but with the cost of sacrificing any sort of luxury.

The booking pictures used by Booking.com were misleading. What we thought we booked and paid for we didn’t get. The resort was preferential to Russian guests, who proceeded to play their music over speakers at all hours of the morning, take over the pools and lounges. The rooms were old, dilapidated, run down, no opening windows in any room, no ceiling fans, so if u wanted air you had to leave the door open which then allows millions of mozzies into the room, or run the dilapidated dirty noisy air conditioner that didn’t work properly.
Now, I understand this is Thailand, and things are different, I’ve travelled the world and slept in some pretty average places, but they were advertised as average. The 4 star rating this place has is to be ignored
There was mould in the bathroom, a single chair, no table, no drawer space. There was a functioning fridge and jug.
The bed should’ve been thrown out in the last decade, all the springs had collapsed and it was horrific. The linen & towels were sparse, threadbare, and stained though at least they were washed.
The best thing about this “place” was the location. No service available. Absolutely NO RESORT FACILITIES AT ALL. This place deserves less than 1 star.

excellent position, large rooms that are poolside. Its back from the beach road so it quiet but not that far to stroll out to the excellent restaurants that are close by . rooms well appointed and comfortable. In some ways its like having your own little resort ..... footnote.. hotel should also be commended on their attitude during this COVID 19 crisis, I had an upcoming booking which was non cancellable through Agoda but given the situation the hotel issued full refund.

A little run down but money for upkeep is hard to find thanks to the plandemic. Everything worked and the ambience is rustic and welcoming. It is very quiet as it's set back from beach road. A rural feel. We saw squirrels and even a friendly snake. Close to beach, bars and cafes. Not luxury but good value.

This is the second time we have stayed at Maalai Resort as Rawai Beach is a favorite getaway for us from Patong. The hotel is such good value only 1200baht with breakfast during low season and we love the location so this time we stayed for 3 nights.

Maalai Resort is straight over the road from the beach and surrounded by a lot of good restaurants. The rooms are a good size with a big fridge and the bathroom is spacious with great water pressure. But what makes this place so good is all the rooms are only a couple of meters from the huge swimming pools. There are also plenty of sun loungers, the way the rooms are set up each room has 2 sun loungers and 2 outside chairs plus a small table. The pool bar is excellent & very cheap for drinks and cocktails.

Breakfast can be a bit hit and miss, nothing to rave about but once again there are restaurants a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Staff are lovely & very helpful. Will be back for a few days again next year!
