We stayed here for 1 night before trekking into the surrounding Mae Hong Son area. Mae Hong Son is a small town, but with that said, the hotel's central location is a necessary convenience since there seem to be no tuk-tuks/taxis and you have to walk (or bike) to get anywhere. The majority of dining options and trekking shops are within a short 10-min walk. The room itself was sufficient for a short-term stay. Presumably, most people are passing thru Mae Hong Son for 1-2 days, on their way to trekking and/or other activities in the area, and the hotel fits this purpose. It was clean, quiet, comfortable, and a good value. The Mae Hong Son area did have a lot of mosquitoes, like some reviews have mentioned, but we didn't experience this problem in the room and it's a relatively rural area so I think expectations should be managed accordingly.

I don’t understand why this place has such a good rating. The room (a bungalow) might have been nice in the ‘70s but can definitely use some renovations now. The mattress feels like a block of concrete, the a/c was trashed, the room was infested with mosquitoes (easily 50+, we had to go out and buy a mosquito net a couple of blocks away as the receptionist could not be of help). The location and strong wifi-signal are unfortunately the only positive elements.

The location is fantastic being right opposite the lake in the middle of town. The evening walking street market is right outside your door and you can access many places to eat. The rooms were basic but clean and the staff very friendly and able to speak English.

Located right in front of the lake. 30 minute walk from the bus station. The daily night market is literally at the door step. Good sized room and washroom in a courtyard, overlooking a small swimming pool. Friendly staff who arranged a tuk-tuk at a reasonable price, to visit all the sites including the Chinese village. Many reasonably priced restaurants in the vicinity. A 7 Eleven within walking distance. All day free coffee at the reception. Value for money. Tuk-Tuk cost 60Baht to and from the airport.
