Well it is very cheap and the people are friendly but it's a long way out of town and very basic. Hard bed. Only cold water in the washbasin. Shower either freezes you or burns you and no in-between. There was no breakfast option when we were there. Rooms are simple but clean. We were woken at 4am by an animal in the roof space scratching on the ceiling - went on for ages. Didn't have a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: Ask for a bungalow without a rat or other animal living above the ceiling.

Very basic room , no breakfast . Extremely firm but large bed. This place is a little out of the way and I would prefer to be closer into town as we were on a motor bike to save us having to get geared up anytime you want to access shops or food . We found better and cheaper right near the night markets .

Relatively basic rooms with air conditioning and usual amenities. A nice pool and good breakfast included. Location is across from the river and walking distance to all services and restaurants. Great value for the cost, and I would stay there again.

If I were designing lodging, this is how it should be done. Full bath and shower area are two different rooms and are completely separate from sink area... I had room to myself, but for couples or friends traveling together it is fabulous to have the bathing area separate from the toilet. The room was thoughtfully laid out, with air con, fridge, lots of shelving, ceiling fan, bedside lamps, tv (even if the the tv was circa 1980!). The room even had own entrance area... and wrap around wooden deck. At first the garden area seemed dusty, but it had charm. No real view to be had. The real downside was only instant coffee was the pre-mixed pre sweetened variety in the cafe area— not sure if any food available. And it was in residential area— great and quiet, but we had a car. You would need to have a car... I don’t know if there are any places to eat within easy walking distance. And it would be quite a hike into main part of town.

My wife, little son and I had a wonderful stay at the Gims Resort. We stayed there for one night while we were cruising along the Mae Hong Son loop. The owner was really lovely and provided us many helpful information, e.g. what we should visit around Mae Hong Son or where we should have dinner at night. The bungalow was very clean, comfortable and lovely furnished. The included breakfast was moderate, but this is often the case in Thailand. The Gims Resort is situated very well. It's in the heart of Mae Hong Son, i.e. sights, shops and restaurants are in the close surrounding. For our next stay in Mae Hong Son we would definitely choose the Gims Resort again and therfore we can totally recommend it.
