We stayed at this hotel for three nights.
The heat was unbelievable so we were relieved that there was aircondition in the room. It was a bit dark, and smelled a little - just a tiny bit, but both the days we stayed there the cleaning was extremely well.
The lobby was not very well airconditioned, but maybe because they have the main big door of the hotel open at all times.
The swimming pool was working but not entirely clean. The food in the hotel restaurant was very good as well. Breakfast was weird for us as it contained food that we normally eat at lunch, but it was ok.
The location of the hotel is magnificent and it is very peaceful.
The staff was amazingly friendly and smilie which was very nice.
Also the room that had the tv and the two computers was more than necessary airconditioned.
I wouldn't mind at all staying again under these circumstances at this hotel.

The hotel is older than what it looks in the photos with all the lighting effects, etc. I had been here with my family and our stay was quite pleasant. Food is good. Breakfast is quite elaborate. Its the place you may want to go to when the idea is to spend minimum time at the hotel and maximum time to the outside of it.

This place is horrible, I called it the "Bates Motel". The pools were dirty and the water fall never worked. No finess center or place to excersize. The place is isolated and the staff is horrible, they see you and start walking in the opposite direction. They placed us in the far end of the empty hotel and we had to walk to the other end of the hotel for dinner and breakfast. Glad we only stayed one night. Nothing to do after the sun goes down. The grounds are nice and kept well.

Having recently returned from a stay at the Pavillion Rim Kwai Resort in Kanchanaburi, I have to say we were very disappointed with the service and overall maintenance of the resort.
We arrived to an unairconditioned lobby and had to request that a fan be switched on. We were shown to our rooms which were in need of renovation and in one of the rooms the aircon was not working. The rooms were dark and not well lit. We asked to be moved to the new wing but were told that this was not yet open (although this is pictured on the website).
We inspected the two pools to discover that one was very dirty and that the steps entering it were broken. The second pool was not even in operation and was equally dirty and not maintained properly.
We dined in the restaurant on our first night and were told that we could not sit in air con as the unit was broken. Our parents were also staying with us and they had come from England and needed some relief from the heat.
The overall feel of the resort was that it was run down and nobody really cared. The whole place felt like it needed renovating and looking after.
What a shame as it is in such a beautiful location.
We feel that we have been misled by the website of this resort and are very disappointed with our stay there.
We would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends or family.

We picked this hotel because the pictures looked decent and it was the only place we could find in Kanchanaburi that would accommodate 9 people for two nights on Jan 2. It was also very cheap, and with hindsight I can understand why.

Do not be taken in by the impressions given in the photos. The resort is run-down, ill-maintained and has an aura of decay -- it feels like a hotel that's given up the will to live. We were the only people there for the first day and the shabby emptiness was oppressing. Half-open doors around the hotel showed evidence of a once-busy existence but the cracked plaster work, subsiding pools and empty cavernous spaces created an atmosphere of despondency.

The rooms were no better. Even with all the lights on, they were dim. It was impossible to read in bed except right under a lamp (whose bulb was hanging off at an alarming angle). The room was musty, even with the aircon on full blast and the walls looked like they hadn't seen a wet cloth in about a decade. The beds were adequate, just about but the extra camp bed put in for our son creaked with every breath and dipped in the middle like a whirlpool.

Breakfast was a basic buffet - eggs, Thai/German sausages, limp ham, some Asian foods and toast. I've had worse, but then again I've had a lot better.

There's little to recommend about this hotel - it's a good 25kms away from Kanchanaburi itself, the staff are like ghosts (you know they're around, but they're insubstantial), and the atmosphere is non-existent.

I live in Thailand, holiday here a lot and so I don't have the overly high expectations that many Western tourists have, but this has to have been one of the worst places I have stayed at in many years.

This place need a health warning, it must be one of the dirtiest hotels I've ever stayed in anywhere in South East Asia, and I've stayed in some pits believe me.

A very very tired hotel in need of a massive expensive refurb, everything you looked at was falling apart, faded or just broken. The smell in the rooms was disgusting too, it smelled like a gym shower room, we had booked four rooms and a family room for our party, every room was the same, with mouldy wall paper hanging off the walls, the horrible smell, disgusting stained fridges (with no mini bar), mould around the bath and showers, crusty dirt around the sinks etc etc, absolutely minging!
Cigarette butts all around the pool, which is showing signs of subsidence as the concrete is dropping and cracked all around it, it was so cloudy and full of leaves and dirt it was without doubt not for swimming in. The staff were miserable and clearly used to people complaining about these problems, when they saw us they would look or walk the other way.
It's also in the middle of nowhere, about 25k from the main town, something else that isn't shown on their website.
Luckily for us we'd booked through and agency, so after a quick phonecall of complaint they told us to pack our bags and move into the town to a lovely resort (Felix resort).
The guy at the reception told our driver this happened everyday at the resort, it's no wonder the place is empty, we were the only people there on that day, and we didn't stay more than twenty mins.

Don't waste your time booking this place, as soon as you get there you'll want to leave, this is one to avoid. Try the Felix closer to the town, it was five star compared to this dump!

Firstly don't believe the pictures. The entire place has a rundown feel - hotel management obviously built this but did not care to maintain the facilities. All the pictures were probably taken 10 years ago when this first opened up, and I have no doubt it was nice back then. Rooms were bad: bugs in the toilet, leaky shower, suspicious looking bathtub, old bed mattresses, broken lamps, static-prone television, mosquitoes everywhere (and more outdoors), and a shabby balcony.

The hotel restaurant is far from decent. Breakfast buffet was served outdoors which is another way of saying it is a buffet for ants and flies. The minute you set your food on the wooden tables ants will start attacking it. Anything sweet will draw flies. Food quality and taste were poor too for Thailand. Lunch was better because it was indoors.

There are two swimming pools. The larger one is permanently closed down. The smaller one did not look swimmable either despite the hotel staff's valiant efforts. Garden grounds are okay to walk around but nothing unlike a typical park.

Service was poor; staff were either very very shy or did not simply care about your experience here. Maybe they've grown resigned to customers' complaints - I would if I were they.

Oddly this place seems very popular with conferences and company retreats. I was there for precisely that reason, and for the three days we were there there were two other conferences going on. So the only redeeming part of this trip was the lovely staff and colleagues that were there with me. I would not recommend coming here alone or even as a couple or with friends. There are much better places to stay closer to town for the same rate.

After arriving from bangkok thonnburi station at Kanchanaburi we expect a short drive (maybe 5km) (as stated in the hotel website) The taxi man informed us it was 30km away. 500 baht later we arrived at the hotel. Beautiful grounds and entrance lobby. Thats were all the good things ended. The hotel looks great in the site, in reality its big and grand but smelly, mouldy, needs updating, basic room, dirty pool, leakie shower, no mini bar, no balcony furniture. Staff wew rubbish, no English, couldnt be bothered. Breakfast was poor, They love charing 500baht for their taxi. In town was too far away, we struggled to geta taxi home at night. Town is ok. Cheaper than other parts of thailand. We only spent 2 night there and were the only 2 in the hotel. 2nd night a thai school prom arrived and the band tried its best to sing (sounded that a drowning cat) that went on outside our room for hours, then the kids decided to have something like hello kitty party in our corridor, i want happy. Staff could have put us in a different part of the hotel. We only went to visit River kwai bridge etc. There are better and closer hotels in the town centre, The rickity train was the highlight for us

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so, if you don't have a hire car, you'll be stuck here!!
We had booked and pre paid for this hotel months before we stayed here. We were under the impression it was one of the best in the region and it was close to the bridge at the River Kwai...we were misinformed!!
We were meant to stay for 2 nights but couldn't wait to check out after just one! We were travelling in a group, so, between us, we had 5 rooms and ALL of them were as bad as each other. Smelly and mouldy. So, for the sake of your health, please reconsider staying here if you had planned to do so. The smell of the room hit you as soon as you opened the door so to try and remedy that, we put the airconditioner on but the a/c was so old and dirty, i honestly thought we would probably catch Legionairs desease by the morning. Other people in our group slept on the floor because their bedding smelled so bad. We were told we couldn't change rooms cause there were none available.
There were two pools...one was ok to swim in but the other down the bottom of the hotel property was very cloudy and had leaves and all sorts floating in it. There were no signs however, to tell you not to swim there. The mens toilets near the pool had obviously not been cleaned in quite some time either. A white towel had been placed at the bottom of the urinal and had been there so long that it had gone mouldy and brown.
Breakfast was very ordinary. Adequate but ordinary.
It's such a shame because this hotel has such potential! The grounds are lovely but no money is being put back into maintaining the rooms.
We checked out one day sooner than planned but were refused a refund. The doormen were telling our driver that this happens all the time. People pre pay for a number of nights but then check out after just one.
I did take a number of photo's of all the mould in the bathroom, the wiring hanging out of the walls, the mouldy towel in the pool toilets, the old outdated rooms etc but my camera was stolen later on during our trip to Thailand (not from this hotel) so i haven't been able to post them.
I would never stay here again....even i f they paid me to!

We had made a reservation to stay at this hotel for three nights but ended-up checking-out after one night.
First: The "resort" is located halfway between the downtown area of Kanchanaburi and the Erawan Falls area. This is good if you have a car or have rented a car. It is not good if you are a tourist without wheels.
Basically you are trapped in the middle of nowhere once you are dropped-off by a taxi (400 baht one way from the bus station/ train station in Kanchanaburi). From there you must rent the resort's car services. One full-day (8 hours) of van service from the resort is 1500 baht.

The room where we stayed (we requested King sized bed non-smoking) was room #22. We had two queen beds pushed together and clean ashtrays.

There are two pools on the property. The one closest to our room was clean. The one closer to the river was overflowing, full of leaves and had a green slime covering most of the bottom surface.

The shame about this hotel is that it IS a beautiful location but the resort management has not taken the location and coaxed it into a restful paradise that it is yearning to be. It has a very pleasant view of the river. You can walk right up to the river bank. But there are no chairs, no hammocks, no riverside drink service or place to hang out. There IS an old, falling apart floating deck but it's not connected to the riverbank...at least it appeared that it used to be connected.

The open air restaurant had pleasant staff but terrible food. A shame in Thailand, really. Entertainment/ risk included two very feral and angry cats who were trying to fight below our feet. Rabies anyone?

The room was old. It had puke-green paint. A telephone booth-like "shower stall" with mold. Small, rough towels.

Staff at reception: surly and not eager to communicate unless you are Thai or speak Thai. To the hotel's credit they did not give us a penalty for checking-out early.

For the money you can find much, much better accomodation in Kanchanburi and its surroundings.

Oh and while we were there a huge group of Asian factory workers for some "precision" company were having a conference. This meant that each meal had a buffet and all of the people eating meals were dressed in identical blue/ grey uniforms. I felt like I had wandered into a North Korean/ communist hotel circa 1978. Maybe that's part of the "charm" travelers seek, but if you are going to Kanchanaburi for the fresh air, solitude and slower pace there are better places to stay.
