The first room we were given had a used towel on one bed and foot prints on the sheets. The manager was apologetic and gave us another room. On the balcony, we found two cigarette butts on the railing and two dirty plastic chairs and table. The room itself included two beds with clean sheets and towels, a cabinet, a TV, 2 bottles of water, and an air conditioner. There were no night stands, no lamps, no tables or chairs, and no refrigerator. There were 2 notes on the wall - one with a price list of the inventory (including the bathroom sink) in case you broke or damaged something and a second note that said if you wanted your room cleaned to let reception know. The bathroom ceiling was mouldy and stained and the door was rotting away at the lower end.

I have stayed in rooms like this and had no higher expectations given a rate of about 10 dollars a night. Maybe the extra cost for this hotel is for the beautiful location, the great view from every room, and the pool.

Service was spotty. The lady making breakfast was sullen, did not make any eye contact and there certainly was no effort to be helpful or friendly. The manager tried to be helpful but was clearly upset and somewhat uncomprehending that we did not like our room or the level of cleanliness. It seemed that he thought that we had no reason to complain given the price of $30.00 a night. Where else would you get a location like that and a pool for that price? And maybe he is right.

So - if you are on a budget but still want to stay at a good location with a view of the river and a pool, then this is the place for you. The photos others have up-loaded will give you an idea. However, if you also want a clean bathroom (see 2 photos of our bathroom) and a room with more than just two beds, then I would look elsewhere.

Right on the river kwai-with a bit of scrubbing up this place would look five star!!

The advantages-food is lovely-a whole thai menu and an english one in the pool-side restaurant. The staff aren't particularly friendly but they can arrange to get your laundry done and book massage appointments at the on-sight spa which is lovely. At night it is so peaceful and it is lovely sitting by the river having cocktails. The rooms and bathrooms are massive, clean, cool and quiet, so we had a great weeks sleep here!

The disadvantages- one member of our group had loads of money stolen and we were convinced it was one of the maintenance men as there wasn't anyone else really around at the time. So it is a case of locking your valuables away or taking them with you. It is also quite far away from anything so to see the sights would need a taxi, but otherwise restaurants are in easy reach- I would recommend the tree-top bar for cocktails and the jolly frog for dinner.

Overall-beautiful place to stay, especially if on a budget, but will require taxi to see the sights.

The swimming pool is not suited for children: always more than 4 feet.
The late maintenance of the room we were was about 10 years ago. Mosquitos enter by door-window. The shower heater show the wires strapped with adhesive...a.s.o...

In a perverse sort of way, I'm glad to have stayed for one night in the Camelia Resort; I had the oportunity to experience the worst breakfast I have ever had, watery egg, cucumber and toast. Wow!!
This place is a DUMP, 10 out of 10 for location, 0 out of 10 for eveything else. And the bedrooms deserve an extra mention, worn out and delapidated, no fridge, telephone, a TV 15 years old and beds that bring to mind only one word, disgusting.
Compare this place with The River Kwai Bridge Resort 100m away, a well run, pretty and clean resort, and only 300-400 baht more expensive.

We first found this hotel after driving about in a taxi for half an hour, the place seemed just right with a pool over looking the river and a bar close by, the room was 1 star at best and cockroaches were rife, we locked the key in the room and were then told the lock would have to to be broken until I mentioned that the cleaners should just come with their key. 1000 baht saved. I was lucky but unfortunate to find that the cleaners were helping themselves to my wife's makeup as I came through the patio doors to collect a towel. I let this slip as they were caught red handed and thought this would be warning enough, but when we got to our next destination found missing books and other property. I would never stay in this place again.

After 3 night in the Felix river kwai resort we decided to extend our stay in Kanchanaburi and move on to a less luxurious hotel... Big mistake, Fair enough this is a budget hotel with amazing views, we paid roughly £18 a night. The rooms themselves arent the best; very basic and in need of a bit of attention... none of this was of major concern as we were having a great time in Kanchanaburi and the standard of room wasnt really high priority.
After arriving home at roughly 2 am after a night in the local town i found my hotel room unlocked, at the time i thought this was slightly odd but was tired and went straight to sleep, it was when i woke in the morning i discovered my room had been cleared out, other than a few t-shirts and a few other other bits and pieces. My suitcase full of clothes, ipad, phone, money, gifts to take back home... pretty much everything i took on my travels.. I reported it to the staff who called the police who came and took a report and informed me that they had had this happened at the Camilia resort in the past and obviously it was highly unlikely my possesions would be found..
Although i could prove nothing i highly suspect that the staff at the hotel had something to do with the theft.. there were no signs of the lock being picked or forced open which leads me to suspect that a key was used...
I would highly recommened Kanchanaburi to everyone; one of the highlights of my holiday... i would just suggest staying somewhere other than the Camilia Resort

My stay in the camelia resort was great! Yes, it is basic, and yes, you might be welcomed by an insect in your room, but this is thailand. The view is amazing, the terrasses and balconies nice, the pool great, the staff friendly and the food good. For me, there was nothing more i needed and i really enjoyed my stay.

The location is great. It's right on the river. The pool is large and clean. The food can be excellent and is a bit different from most other places in the area. However, you may need to get the menu yourself as the staff will be sitting nattering. Nobody appears to be in charge.
The rooms used to be cheap but are now much more pricey. However, they remain basic. There are so many better places nearby.

Old, tired property with broken furniture, dusty rooms, layers of grime all over every surface, filthy AC units, ragged towels and hideous bathroom facilities (unclean is a nice way of saying it). Rude manager was belligerent and aggressive towards us. Booking made over phone and upon arrival room rate jumped by 60% from quoted phone rate. Attitude was "who cares?"
Service was not existent. Rooms unclean all weekend. Broken pool furniture and water in pool was green! Good river views but that is all we can say about this place. Stay away.

The view from all rooms over the pool and river Kwai is beautiful.
The room is simple with very little furniture, but what can you exspeted for 1000 bath per night The room was clean.
The first room we get had a leaking aircon, and we got a anther room with a toilettroom with the shower in front of the toilette. You had to clean the toilette after every shower. The first room had a better bathroom.
Restaurant food was poor and even thai people could not eat because of to must chilli
The best with this hotel is the price, location and the view over Kwai River.
Some of the staff had poor English, anther member of the staff was OK.
