The Evergreen Suite Hotel is well situated for anyone spending time in Surat Thani town. The price is also more than reasonable at 590 Bt for a Superior Room and 690 Bt for a Deluxe room. Yet it is not a real hotel and has the feel of a serviced apartment, not having a restaurant and offering no food. This is not a major problem as there is 7-11 at the end of the Soi and very good restaurants nearby. Overall, the Evergreen is a reasonable choice for a night or two. It is clean, the water is hot and the bed comfortable. The Internet worked fine and there was the normal choice of Thai TV channels but no international channels. There are some "interesting" design flaws in the room, with wooden shelves sticking out from the wall and an annoying ill-placed soap dish that one keeps hitting in the shower, but these are minor quibbles.…
What else can you expect for a price below THB 600, room only. Good bed, clean simple room of 28 sqm and bathroom and fridge. No breakfast. There is no upmarket accommodation in Muang Surat Thani so this is perfect if you need to stopover for the night, eg before or after taking a ferry in Donsak Pier. There is no foreign TV channel, may be something they could add.
Delighted to find that Evergreen (and many other hotels) are opening again all across Thailand. While there is still no international tourism in the country, local tourists and business travelers are beginning to play a role in economic recovery. The hotel continues to provide an excellent product. Welcoming, convenient, clean and comfortable. And a good sized carpark too (which was totally full as we left early morning, so clearly business is pretty good). We will be back!
We got this hotel for a real bargain price and it was worth every penny. Although the the rooms are a little small and well used, they are clean and comfortable ideal for a one or two nights stay in Surat Thani. Hard to find initially but conveniently located near the White Temple and the night market which is great for authentic street food. The staff were pleasant and helpful and assisted us greatly with our onward journey to Koh Phangan. There is no breakfast service as such but they do provide free tea and coffee and very tasty chicken rice porridge which we loved. You also get a balcony which is great if you want to was a few clothes and hang them out there to dry. I would recommend this hotel for its convenience and location and cleanliness.
Have had about four one night stays at the Evergreen, in the past few months. Usually whilst cycling in the Suratthani area. Always a warm and courteous welcome from the hotel staff. Great facilities in the clean, comfortable, and modern rooms. Lots of shops and restaurants, in the immediate area, and it's only a short walk from the beautiful city Pillar Shrine, (see photo), which is well worth a visit, especially in the evenings. Excellent value for money, would fully recommended, and I look forward to my next visit.
