We spent 9 nights here and were positively surprised by the price-performance ratio. It is relatively quiet despite there being a lot of families with children. It is the first hotel we visited that provides more sunbeds than the room capacity. Breakfast is okay, although the selection of fresh fruit is more suitable for a 5* hotel. We had never had fresh mangoes every morning in any hotel (mostly 4* hotels) in Thailand. However, there was no cappuccino but an inedible filter coffee. But no problem, we just drank tea. The bed is extremely hard and I had a lot of back pain after 2 nights. We asked reception for a soft mattress topper and then the problem was solved. We can recommend the hotel for a quiet holiday without any entertainment.

Came for the first time and was impressed with the service. The employees have a smile. Take care of customers The rooms are convenient, well-proportioned, clean, the air conditioning is cool, the atmosphere is good, the children have a fun swimming pool, and the food is delicious. If there is a chance, I will stay again. Really impressed

We stayed at Orchid Beach Resort for 5 nights And I did not recognise the hotel in the April review I was travelling with my partner and adult daughter and booked two rooms which were spacious and had lovely views across the swimming pool to the sea. Agreed there are no sun loungers on the beach but there were plenty around the pool and in the adjacent garden area which also contained the massage area. Breakfasts were good with a special mention to the "egg guy" and other breakfast staff. We didn't eat dinner there as there was an excellent restaurant Adaman Seafood just outside the hotel. Just my opinion but I think 3 stars is underselling the hotel

I had high expectations for this holiday spot and was rather disappointed to see how the photos do not reflect the actual conditions of the property. The buildings are in desperate need of a paint job and the stairways requires a deep cleaning. The gal who cleaned our room did a fantastic job, but carts of laundry and piles of towels are left in the hallways overnight. The pool area was well kept and the swim up bar helps keep on cool on those steamy days. The resort is across the street from the beach so there are no sun lounges on the actual sand. There are also no umbrellas or trees for shade so it’s not a place to be during the heat of the day , something we wished we knew beforehand. We did not eat at the restaurant as we found the local spots very well priced and delicious. There is a shuttle into town a few nights a week, but it’s not free and only runs at certain times . We used the hotel to arrange a wonderful snorkeling trip and spent our last day at Coconut Beach, which I highly recommend. The resort seemed busy so I guess there are travelers who enjoy this property, but we won’t be back.

Orchid beach hotel. It’s a nice looking place but dated and could be so much better.
Check in was lovely we had a welcome drink and the staff were friendly, however you could see straight away that the hotel is a little dated and a little dreary.
There is a fish tank in the lobby with dying gold fish in it which was quite sad .
Our room A22 I would try and avoid if I were you The room itself is lovely but the shower is enough to drive you mad it constantly flickers between freezing cold and boiling hot. It’s unusable we tried to get maintenance to look at it but they don’t really understand and said it was fine. Luckily there was a bath which you could regulate the temperature a bit better.
The beds are perfect and super comfortable, Mini bar stocked with water.
The pool also needs attention there are tiles coming off everywhere especially in the whirl pool section. The pool bar staff are amazing always smiling and helpful.
Breakfast is not too good, not a huge amount of choice unless you fancy spaghetti and curry … There is an egg station and toast but overall it just seems bland zero frills
The breakfast area is a bit run down and there is a pool with some massive fish in there which also looks a bit grim.
The grounds are lovely plenty of loungers, It is situated quite far out of town and just because of this I would not stay here again it’s just too far out of khao lak

A 2 week stay in an oasis of tranquillity with amazing staff and great food at the Verve restaurant. We booked direct with the hotel and received a generous credit to spend at the pool bar and verve restaurant, free evening transport to the night market or khao lak and 5 free evening meals. You can choose to stay on site for a totally relaxing stay with several evenings in the Andaman restaurant a few hundred metres away the main man there is such a character and will keep you amused. The staff at orchid beach are so friendly and always busy there was a lot of preparation in the grounds for the christmas holidays. The gardens are beautiful and ver natural. We stayed here 4 years ago and the standard at the Verve restaurant has excelled, truly amazing food don't miss it. Special thanks to Nook, Pear and Jee

I can't express how much I love this hotel. I spent 10 days here and wish it were longer between the location, the breakfast buffet and definitely the most gorgeous big room with an incredible view that I have ever had for the price. Honestly I was astounded and happily settled in as if it were home. I had started at another place in Bang Niang that got lots of good reviews it definitely didn't deserve and I rode a bicycle all up and down Khao Lak and Orchid was by far the best I saw. I'm not comparing to the really expensive places which I didn't go into, but it still felt much more like a 4 star than a 3 star and I found the price extremely reasonable for what you got. Also the history is fascinating, tragic regarding the tsunami, but important to know what happened and Orchid Beach is as central to that as you can get! Also Khak Khak beach is still quiet and beautiful. Overall, a fabulous experience!

We visited this hotel again and decided to stay in the Orchid Wing this time. The rooms were lovely and very spacious but as others have said the views of the sunset and the general views are better from the deluxe rooms. The hotel was still as lovely and the staff were still there from previous years so it was lovely to see lots of familiar faces. We booked directly with the hotel and paid for the “package.” This includes transfers to and from the airport, 20% discount off food and drinks and 10% of the total cost of your hotel booking credited back to you to spend in the hotel. It also includes several free evening meals in the hotel restaurant which were delicious. It is definitely the best value to do this. We ate other meals at Andaman Seafood Restaurant a 5 minute walk from hotels and booked our trips through them with Hughie the Barman. His prices were much cheaper than the hotel travel company. The hotel was very quiet perhaps because of the Corona Virus but it really is the most peaceful and tranquil hotel you will find. You will find total relaxation here and the most beautiful beach. The majority of guests who stay here are German with a few Scandinavian. I would recommend this hotel to anyone’s hotel wants a quieter holiday .

What an unexpected treasure! When we arrived I thought we must be at the wrong hotel or we signed up for something higher end than I thought. It felt like a small scale version of a big Mexican 5 star all-inclusive, but without the trough-like buffet, watered down drinks and crowds. Amazing uncrowded beach just steps away, good restaurants down the street and more in town just a short cheap tax ride away. Renting a cheap scooter next door got us out on some great adventures. Despite the long flight from Calgary, this trumps all other vacations we have done. Great for families and couples alike.

Room Tip:It’s not downtown, but a cheap taxi or scooter rental will get there (if you really need to go).

We're currently staying here (room 321) and will be so sad to leave this haven of peace & tranquillity. Our room is spacious and clean, with tea & coffee making, a fridge, a sofa and a big bathroom. We have a great view of the pool and beach from our big balcony. Breakfast is fabulous. Lots of lovely fruit, eggs cooked to order and tea and coffee constantly topped up by the smiling staff. The main pool area is nice, although we prefer the Adults' pool as its so peaceful and has a regular shaped pool that you can swim lengths in. Poolside massage is great, and a bit cheaper than the onsite spa. The beach opposite is a long stretch of lovely sand, ideal for sitting on or for a walk. There are 4 restaurants next to the hotel, all are good, as is the hotel restaurant opposite the beach. This is a quiet area but you can get the shuttle bus to Khao Lak for a small fee if you want more choice. We walked back today, it took about 1 hr 15 mins at a leisurely place. Finally, all of the staff here are so cheerful and friendly. Highly recommended, we would defintely return.

Hi! I haven't seen much children at this hotel during my stays.. Nor any activities. It is not that kind of hotel (in my opinion). Quiet and grown-up couples/guests mostly.
Most sockets in Thailand can accept two pin flat and two pin round plugs.
If still in doubt, adapters are on sale just about everywhere in Thailand, including UK plugs to Thai sockets. Large department stores (Tesco Lotus, Big C) have just about any combination.
There are more places to choose from in the Khao Lak area.
