Such a relief to find this hostel in Arusha. So friendly, free laundry, great food, lovely garden to chill out in the evening. Always a good sign when there's an honesty bar with chilled drinks.. Good collection of DVDs. Really sorted us out after our safari. Thank you. Hot showers too!

I can't imagine a better way to experience Arusha than with Gasper, Evance, Jenni, and all the other staff and volunteers at Ujamaa Hostel. During my 2 week stay, I felt safe, comfortable, and among friends the whole time. Even though I came to Arusha already partnered with a volunteer organization, Ujamaa helped me find even more opportunities to work... More

Gasper was very accommodating and very good communicator .He assisted my friend and I to arrange our travel to Arusha and assisted us with our project . He always responded to all my questions before arriving and assured us that we are in good hands. We came a little after dinner from long journey on the bus, 12 hours from... More

I stayed here for 3 weeks to volunteer. Firstly the accommodation is ok. You get what you pay for. The dorms were comfortable enough. The staff are welcoming and try to accommodate all your needs. I was though, disappointed in their lack of information/involvement in the volunteer program. This is the reason I went to Arusha and stayed at Ujamaa.... More

I only stayed at Ujamaa for one night and I arrived late and I was leaving early in the morning. Although I would not be staying for very long the very very friendly staff were very keen to show me around and help me with anything I needed. I came after dinner, but as I was very hungry from a... I stayed here with my husband and 2 kids in December. We stayed one night before heading out on safari. Gasper, the owner, was wonderful. He answered all my questions before we arrived. We arrived early in the morning and they were very accommodating - gave us a place to lie down while we waited for our room to be... More

I had a great experience here. Gasper (owner) is a great guy and helped me get a great deal on a weekend safari at half the price that most companies were offering. The hostel itself is small but cozy and the staff are all very nice. Basic but decent food served for breakfast and dinner (you're on your own for... More

Gasper and his staff is super friendly and we had a good time at the ujamaa hostel. The rooms and toilets are clean, the food is ok and the prices are reasonable. We also did the hot springs tour, which was very cool. There is also a shopping center with ATM and grocery store and free wifi nearby. So if... More

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Rooms have good beds with proper nets, the shower and bathroom are clean and there is hot water (when the power is on, though there is a generator as well). Basic breakfast and dinner are provided and there is a shoping center a 5 minute walk away with restaurants. The best part are... More
