Travelled from Australia and stayed at Jetwing Blue (no choice given) from 11 to 25 July as quarantine guests. I believe the main idea of the hotel was to grab the money from hapless visitors. There were about 80 passengers who arrived that night after a 10 hour flight & staying about 4 hours at the airport to clear quarantine procedures, which was quite acceptable. On arrival they unloaded us at the Jetwing Beach hotel for registration and made us walk for about 20 minutes to our rooms at this 40 plus year old Jetwing Blue (paint peeling & cob webs) to the second floor, and as a cost cutting measure the elevators were switched off. The rooms were obviously very old, house keeping was okay and were given just the 3 boxed meals per day per person and bottled water. For the same price the other quarantine hotels had provided a better selection of food, morning and afternoon tea and some hotels had even gone to the extent of getting the guests on to their room balconies and entertaining them with live music in the evenings. Mind you the deal was that the guests clean the room, toilet, crockery, cutlery etc., which is again the norm at all quarantine hotels in Sri Lanka. But when you compare quality, service this was a definite daylight robbery and taking advantage of a very sad situation.

Recently our daughter and now son in law travelled to the beautiful island of SriLanka for their wedding. Along with many fellow Australians who chose to stay at the Jetwing Blue we were incredibly impressed with the authenticity of the hotel, the professionalism and kindness of all staff, the incredibly delicious banquet breakfast offered daily and not to forget the brilliant azure blue swimming pool...Yes it looks exactly as it is presented in the photos! The rooms offer a haven from the heat of SriLanka with the hotel proudly supporting an environmentally friendly ethos and like a previous reviewer my husband and I can absolutely agree the king size beds are like sleeping on a cloud. All of the staff went out of their way to meet our every need in a timely and courteous manner. I would like to add for anyone considering a wedding reception in Negombo the Jetwing Blue is an absolute must! The JetWing Blue Hotel is great value for money and in a prime location in the heart of Negombo.
Negmobo is around a 45 min drive from Colombo Airport and is a cute little area filled with restaurants, bars and some club nightlife (one or two late night clubs). It is a relatively safe area and has tuk-tuks that will take you around at a low cost (always remember to haggle with prices).
The hotel is situated down the far end of the stretch of road and has its own private beach attached. The beach in Sri Lanka (in general) can be quite dirty compared to some other popular travel destinations, but the pool area was beautiful and there was enough sunbeds for everyone.
The food in the hotel was delicious and the restaurant served up something different every day.
The rooms were basic and included a bed, dressing table, bathroom (bath/shower/sink) and balcony. The bathrooms were a little “dated” and not overly appealing (clean) but the rest of the room was OK and pleasant and also cleaned on a daily basis.
The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and catered to your every need – they were fab!
Overall a very pleasant stay here and I would stay at this hotel again.

Spend my 14 day mandatory quarantine at JetWing Blue and it was a pleasant stay. They maintained quarantine guidelines keeping themselves and us safe. The checkin/checkout process was streamlined and everything was accordance to safety guidelines. The staff were pleasant and all requests were accommodated. The Internet was a bit slow sometimes, but what can you expect with hundreds of people isolated and watching maybe YouTube all day :-) The balcony was a sure welcome overseeing the beach and sea, a very pleasant sight of fishermen dragging their nets, a relief from the isolation.
The chef would called check if we needed any special food or changes to the menu, and have to say the food was a good variation and the right portion size. No inches gained around the waist was surely an achievement. The rooms were well supplied and occasionally the GM would call and ask about out well-being. A nice gesture.
Overall the rooms were clean and everything functioned well, of course the common spaces would not be having the ambiance of a normal functioning hotel, which is to be expected and I agree it would be wasteful and also a quarantine risk having non-essential staff at the premises. But rejuvenation of the hotel already started when I was leaving.
Definitely will go there soon with the family when things are a bit normal in the new normal.
Also have to make a special mention of Anne who went through so much trouble to get me this hotel for my quarantine.

I arrived at this hotel after two long flights and experienced an immediate sense of calm. The rooms are simply lovely. Also spacious. Attention is paid to aesthetics throughout the hotel. Food is abundant and tasty with certain staples always appearing but new dishes too. The sea is visible and one minute walk away. Staff is accommodating, friendly and responds most promptly to any request. This is an anti plastic environment, so no plastic bottles. Everything is in glass or straw. Hotel gives you two bottles of their homemade purified and filtered water each day. However the taste is a bit earthy and bottles of mineral water are available. Cosmetics are simply lovely. My only problems were that it is not a budget hotel but one cannot expect that from a five star hotel. Another problem is the hawkers on the beach who descend en masse if you buy anything at all, but they are not permitted on hotel premises.

I had the pleasure of staying at JetWing Blue for a night. Upon arrival the staff was incredibly helpful and polite. Check-in was easy, greeted with fresh fruit juices and water. The hotel observed very responsible procedures in light of COVID-19 providing hand wash stations and sanitizing solutions for hands, bags, shoes, etc. My room was absolutely beautiful with a lovely view of the ocean and palm trees.
So many nice features it’s hard to say what was my favorite. The bathroom might have been the highlight for me with a large rainfall type shower head and the largest garden bathtub I’ve ever seen. The buffet meals were delicious and had a great variety including some incredible local dishes. In the evening watching the sunset from the main pool with a backdrop of palm trees was exactly what I hoped for from a tropical resort hotel. Truly stunning!
I can’t state how professional and welcoming the staff were. That’s what really set this experience apart from stays at other luxury hotels. Customer service is something the JetWing brand seems to have mastered and made my stay an experience to remember. My only regret is not being able to stay another night.

An experience so good. Stepped into the Blue after 22 long years. The property is classier than ever. Loved every minute of our stay. The GM Hyacinth Gunawardena is there everywhere leading her Team and ensuring that everything is perfect for her guests. The buffet has a never ending list and the food is enriched with taste and variety and caters to everyone's needs. Chef Kennedy Jayamanne quietly watches the sumptuous meals being rustled together under his expertise. Pastry chef Ranjan ensures that his guests taste his delicate pastries and breads. The service team are all around making sure u have a hearty meal, Indica, Anna and Barbara need a special mention. Thank you Chef Kennedy for the wonderful cuisine u served. Sampath in the bar is an asset to Blue, he ensures that his guests are well taken care of and meets each and every need. The SPA at Blue is a must visit when you go to Blue. Madhuri painstakingly massaged my aching muscles and made sure that I was comfortable through out. A massage with Madhuri is a must if you visit the spa. Thank you Madhuri. A special mention to Menuka Fernando from accounts, she is quietly there ensuring that the finance division of Blue functions smoothly and the guests do not face any hardships. Of the six hotels that we stayed in during our holiday this was the most expensive but it’s hard to see why. Staff were friendly and efficient, the food was quite good, although we only ate breakfasts and snacks, and the beds were comfortable. The main issue with this hotel has to be its age. It was built in the early 70s and it shows. Our room was a good size but tired. The bathroom harboured grime and should ideally be replaced. The same goes for the balcony. Doors to it didn’t fit snugly so the room wasn’t soundproofed from the pool area. The hotel is also on a busy street and linking corridors are open to it so you get street noise from early morning to wake you up. The doors onto the corridor are also not really soundproofed so you can easily hear people outside. The balcony of our room had cracks all over it so it didn’t feel that pleasant to sit on. There’s netting across the balconies as well to keep crows at bay so your view is somewhat compromised. This is supposed to be 5 star... There’s quite a lot of beach area to sit out at and you can order food and drink to your lounger but beware! Crows are watching your every move! Leave a plate for a second and they’ll be in to snatch whatever they can. You also have to put up with hawkers and dogs on the beach although I’d say of all them the dogs were the least bothersome. In a nutshell it is unlikely that we would return here as Negombo has lots of hotels on offer. We actually stayed at a much nicer, and cheaper, Negombo hotel later in our trip so we won't be back here.

This hotel is tired and in need of a spruce up, particularly room 114 that we stayed in. The bathroom is disgraceful! We arrived tired after a long journey from the UK and had no towels. I was given 2 brown beach towels and told if I wanted bathroom towels it would take 30 mins!. Staff are all friendly enough but show little motivation maybe it’s down to training post the covid sleep? Our bed was comfy but our ocean view not exactly what I had expected. Stayed two nights so didn’t complain as we had opened a very full suitcase already and couldn’t be bothered to pack back up. I want convinced other rooms might be any better.
Bathroom clean on the surface but needs basic renovation to make acceptable such as new silicone along the shower or at least a good scrub, the skirting areas are all grubby and the painted tiles on the floor need a refresh. Bed throw fabric was worn and frayed, better not have one as it doesn’t serve a purpose.
Breakfast was good, particularly the Sr Lankan section and in general lots of choice though eating areas were gloomy and depressing. Beach restaurant ‘Centre Point’ was good, nice service and selection of menu items.

This is the second time that we tried one of the Suite rooms. Last time was 415, this time it was 416. We really enjoyed our stay. The COVID protocols were well managed. The checkin took some time, probably to check whether our advance payment had been made. The food was uniformly good, and we were on full board. They offered us the chance to take up some food from the buffet to avoid the crowds, which was a plus. There is space in the Suite Room for private dining for four people. The children's bed is made up as good as any normal small bed, and will sleep two children under 12 very comforrably. THe checkout was very fast. The separate walk in closet area has a desk with power to have an online meeting if necessary. The Jetwing Blue wifi has a strong signal that even works at the beach if you are an instagrammer. They no longer have sanitised pens though, so have your own. Negombo has perhaps the largest beach on the West Coast, and also the sunsets are among the very best as it directly faces the Indian Ocean to the West The jacuzzi in the room is one of the best that we have used, and kids will love it with the lighting effects. A comprehensive photo album is included, except for the buffet, for which there are perfectly adequate ones in other reviews.

Don't know as wasn't there long enough to utilise the pool. But the staff are very friendly and accomodating, I'm sure if you were to ask, extra towels would be provided.
We had a private driver/guide, so wasn't an issue for us. However, I found the following information on the Jetwing Hotels faq page: "CAN YOU PROVIDE TRANSFERS TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT THROUGH OUR HOTELS?
YES. WE ONLY REQUIRE YOUR CONFIRMED FLIGHT DETAILS
We would be more than happy to arrange airport pick-ups and drop-offs on-request. We only require your confirmed flight details to arrange and confirm the transfers and rates for the same. Please send these details to Reservations or to the reservation email address of the respective Jetwing Hotel you wish to vacation at."
