We were travelling to Daejeon to visit our son who is working there and we used TA to help us locate this hotel. The hotel is excellent quality - good standard of rooms / beds / public areas / reception. The reception staff were very helpful and we used there expertise a lot help us to get around / advice on travel / etc.
The rooms are high quality and very contemporary in terms of styling, the bed was very comfortable and loads of storage space. There was a bar downstairs that gives guests a free cocktail every night, free soft drinks and water in the room and they serve breakfast in your room every morning.
There are lots of good restaurants around and we found plenty going on in Daejeon - it's a rapidly growing city about the size of Leeds (UK city) and about 1 hour south of Seoul by train. We stayed in Seoul for 3 days before travelling to Daejeon and we felt very safe and welcome in both places and the Koreans were very helpful and friendly. A lot of the signage is in English and English is spoken / understood, certainly by younger people. Younger children were keen to try out their English on us when they passed us in the street - so be prepared !
There is a direct train service between Daejeon and Seoul Inchenon airport, which is bookable on line in advance. Tip - the Seoul trains can get fully booked, but there are 2 stations / lines in Daejeon to choose from if the first one gets full.
We stayed in the hotel for 7 nights in total and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Daejeon.

At the time we visited (August 2013) hotel seemed to be brand-new - very clean, with a unique modern decor (each room was different). Room was beautiful and comfortable, there was free WiFi, staff was friendly and polite (though spoke minimal English). There was a little buffet breakfast restaurant a few doors down, where we ate every morning, and numerous other restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Recommended!

We stayed only 1night in their premium room on the 10th floor. It was beautiful and luxurious. Check in was fast and simple they asked what time we wanted breakfast delivered to the room and gave us our welcome drink vouchers. I need an AUX cable for the stereo and it was brought to me in less than 2 minutes. The balcony had a nice view ans offered a great place to enjoy our breakfast. The location is great very close to a bustling nightlife area in downtown. Directly across the street is a convenience store which is great. I will 100% stay here again when back in Daejeon. The bed in the room is like sleeping on a cloud.

The Lacky is a small gem right in downtown Daejeon, Boutique by name, boutique by nature!
Reception staff are splendid, very welcoming and helpful - especially with parking in to the ‘container’ garage.
My room was, for my 4th stay here (5 days in October) really nice - super comfy bed and linens, massive free standing bath and open shower, separate toilet.
Room decor is modern minimal, fresh and warm.
Perhaps best is a good HiFi in room, and a small fridge with free water and beer!

I stayed at Lacky for two nights in September 2017. The hotel is located in downtown Daejeon, with parking and plenty of restaurants nearby. Daejeon is not the liveliest of towns, so noise was not an issue during my stay.

The lobby area is quite small, but welcoming and functional. The rooms are the highlight, however. My room was very spacious, with a sitting area and large bathroom with shower and bathtub. The bathroom was almost as large as the bedroom, really comfortable to shower in. The bed was also large and very comfortable.

The hotel does not have a breakfast area, so breakfast is delivered to your room. On our second morning, we had to leave prior to the service commencing, so the hotel arranged for breakfast at a nearby restaurant.

All in all, this was a very nice hotel, and I'd gladly return during a future trip to Daejeon.

Stayed in December 2016 as a couple and did not want to leave. Pleasantly surprised to find this hotel; huge bed, well-finished bathroom and a great price. Reception staff were very attentive with good English and the check in/ check out process was very easy. The only negative was that the reception staff were also the bar staff at the time and so the hotel bar was under-serviced. Would definitely stay here again.

I cannot fault it. The staff was very attentive and the room was one of the most comfortable I stayed in my life. Huge, soft bed, delicious jacuzzy and many thoughtful in-room amenities. There is a large shopping centre adjacent to the hotel, as well as many good restaurants and transport connections. If I ever have to go back to Daejeon, this is definitely where I will be staying.

This hotel is very unique and striking, from the first time you see it. Inside is very dark and modern. The rooms are similarly styled, as you can see from the photos.

Service is very good, the English level of the staff has no issues whatsoever.

The breakfast is cool, as there is no restaurant they serve it as room service.

Location is very central, so if you want restaurants, bars and nightlife then look no further. Can be noisy at night if you sleep with the windows open though.

We returned to the Lacky for a ten day stay in June, whilst visiting our son who lives and works in Daejeon.

We again booked two Premium rooms on the tenth floor - huge rooms with balconies and very comfortable. There only being four rooms per floor with the premium rooms, one of our rooms was the same as we had last year, we took the second - Room 10-2 - which had a sitting area with sofas and occasional table, large bathroom with bath and rainfall shower, seperate toilet and basin area (only one basin).

Our only criticism of the room would be that the decor was rather dark. This is a 'boutique' hotel, so decor and layout is quirky and original and, on this occasion, we didn't mind too much as my husband had just had eye surgery, so the dim environment was a bonus but reading and writing for me was a bit of a strain.

We didn't take the breakfast option, which I understand from the trays outside doors in the morning, must be served to the room. There are plenty of places where you can eat breakfast or brunch within a few minutes walk of the hotel, including the excellent 'Thumbs up Bro' which is directly across the road, although this is definitely a brunch venue and doesn't open until 11.00 am. There is also a 7/11 and a CU along the street, together with a couple of coffee houses, and TimeWorld shopping area is about a three minute walk away.

There are limited coffee making facilities within the rooms, but an excellent coffee making machine in the foyer, which you can use whenever you like, with cups and holders being provided for you to take the drinks up to your rooms. If you request milk then they are happy to provide that from the bar, either straight from the carton or 'frothed' to make a cappuccino.

Each day you are entitled to a voucher for a free drink per person in the bar, up to 9.30pm (although there seemed to be some flexibility on this). The free drinks are mostly 'ades', but expertly mixed and presented. The voucher also gives you 50% off the main drinks menu, allowing you to have a beer or cocktail for 5000 Krwon.

Staff are young and very friendly with varying degrees of fluency in English, but all can get by sufficiently to understand you. Service is discreet and unobtrusive.

We are not the usual guests in that we are around a lot in the day, waiting for our son to finish work, and noticed that our room seemed to be on the second (afternoon) shift for housekeeping. This wouldn't be a problem usually, but we tended to come back to the hotel in the early afternoon after going out for breakfast and a wander. For some reason housekeeping staff persisted in only leaving one bath towel when servicing the room, even though on a couple of occasions we were both in the room whilst it was being cleaned. Whilst this wasn't sufficient of an irritation to downgrade our rating, it did become frustrating, especially as it happened nine days out of the ten that we stayed.

We would still thoroughly recommend the Lacky for a stay in Daejeon; it is ideally situated for the centre of the city and City Hall area, it is comfortable and spacious.
