Clean and cheap hotel locates at the city centre of Daejeon. Many restaurants, shops and so on. Good for travelers, government office visitors. Well ya, almost residence hotels are offering similar facility/service, but I like here more than other similar ones because their rooms have own terraces.

Arriving at the hotel yesterday, in spite of the weird car park system they had, everything went quite okay. However, the problems a started when we got to the room. There was no WiFi as advertised, instead, apparently you had to borrow a router from reception, leaving 10000 won deposit. Fair enough, we gave them the money, took the router and off we went to the room.

We then checked the bathroom, the so called shower floor was filthy. I tried calling reception but got no answer. Being in a hurry to take a shower I ended up cleaning it up myself. Then I discovered that there was only 1 shower towel. Were my husband and I supposed to share it? Once again, I call reception, no answer. He ended up using one of the two face towels instead.

There was also food leftover from the previous guest in the fridge and the air con remote was nowhere to be found so the air con was always on. No problems with that since otherwise we would have goit roasted with the winter duvet they have on the bed.

But this is only the beginning of our ordeal. The bed is not a double bed, it's one and a half at best so if you are planning on two full grown adults sleeping, we hope you like to cuddle. We have stayed in seven other hotels in Korea and this is by far the smallest bed, I repeat, it's not a double bed.

In the morning we went downstairs to have breakfast that was included in the price of the room only to be told that free breakfast was only for one of us, the other had to pay an extra 8000 won. After trying and failing to make them see how utterly senseless this was, I ended up paying so that we both could have breakfast and check out.

Then it's when things got from bad to ugly. Returning the router, the two members of the staff at the reception refused to give back the deposit since they said they were not present when I gave the money to their colleague. They then started a show of pretending to call random people and checking the CCTV. In the end, after yet another pointless argument that lasted for 15 minutes, seeing that they had no intention of giving us our money, we chose to leave.

tl;dr : these people are thieves and horrible hoteliers. DO NOT STAY HERE, EVER.

Stayed here before and was ok, this time not so much , arrived on a Sunday and so noisy next door with construction that was almost unbearable , insane hammering for 2 hours to the point that people literally left restaurant without ordering , not hotels fault though . Room was ok and spacious but new policies that were very odd . Deposit required for clothes drying rack ! I really don't think anyone would steal a big clothes rack! Deposit now required for wifi modem which is specific to the hotel ?! Went to do laundry and cook and no power ! Asked downstairs and they said you needed to manually connect power ! Not mentioned when I checked in and to be honest is very stupid !!!! And if that the case they should have done a walk through with you upon check in . Also explained deposits and asked if you would require wifi and clothes rack . Front desk girls almost zero English too. Restaurant good but minimal English too . Won't stay here again.

The very bad reviews for this hotel obviously belong to a previous life... Now it is an amazingly good apart/hotel, with very pleasant decoration and even a tiny touch of luxury, everything you need for a longer-term stay, and squeaky clean. To top it all, I booked it at an extremely friendly price.
Doesn't have a great view but it is right downtown, with hundreds of places and things to do in walking distance.
I wouldn't just stay there again - I'd stay there as often as possible.

I booked 2 rooms on this hotel (on www.booking.com) since February 2015, for a business event in September. In August I received an appologizing e-mail from staff of www.booking.com. They told me they received an e-mail from La Mia Hotel and the price is actually double than it was booked! Obviously I canceled the reservation!
