#4 of 7 B&Bs / Inns in Jericho
The Auja EcoCenter and Guesthouse was opened in October 2010 in Al Auja, just north of Jericho. The village of Al Auja and the surrounding valley is home to a unique and beautiful landscape-but people's everyday lives are burdened with water scarcity and the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis. In close cooperation with the local people our center offers a variety of activities to experience the multifaceted cultural, environmental and political issues first hand. We welcome you to explore with us the unique Jordan valley ecology, sample delicacies prepared by Bedouin women, and listen to stories locals can tell you about their lives in this region. Our guesthouse has eleven private guestrooms, all with en suite bathrooms and air-conditioning, and five dormitory rooms that are suitable for families or student groups. The grounds have gardens, a roof terrace, and Bedouin tent areas for relaxing. Let us treat you like family at the guesthouse before you embark on a tour by one of our expert guides. A short cab ride from Jericho, the Auja EcoCenter is the best place to get an authentic experience of the Palestinian territories.

I stayed at Auja Environmental Center in late 2016 and early 2017. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, attending to every detail. The center is also extremely unique - nowhere else can you gain such exposure to the unique political and environmental circumstances of the Jordan Valley. The food is also second to none.

This eco focused lodging is a great contributor to the local community. Come stay here to support the cause and meet some great people who are making an impact on their community! It is a short ride (40 NIS) from Hisham's Palace.

The guesthouse is set on the edge of a large village in the Jordan valley, within 5km of Jericho. It began six years ago and has been growing in size and ambition ever since. It is now on three storeys, with a large, well-equipped kitchen and good, basic rooms. The aim of the project is to ensure that the environment and wildlife of the West Bank are not forgotten amidst other issues, but it is also a good place to learn about the overall Palestinian experience from the dedicated and well-informed team and from the volunteers. We were given a warm welcome and shown over a local herb farm in the short time we were there. The price at 250 NIS per double room per night is reasonable, but is also an important source of support for this very worthwhile project.
