Have you always looked at those glossy travel magazines with the bungalows over the reef and longed for that experience but The Maldives and Bora Bora too far away and too expensive? Are you able to adjust your expectations to the cost and the relative conditions? If so Secret Island Resort, well actually not a resort as such, maybe the...

The key to enjoying Secret Island Resort is knowing what to expect. "Secret Island" is a bit of a misnomer--this is no white-beached castaway island; it's actually quite large and populated island, close to the mainland, with a number of small villages and a mosque. It doesn't have much in the way of good beaches, except for one lovely long...

On this special location we had the hill side bungalow. Beautiful view in a spacious bungalow. Altough the resort is a bit outdated; it has its charm and the always friendly staff makes you forget about that. They also have a great kitchen! Siti is the best!:-)

This is a quaint and quirky place indeed! I sensed myself first hovering between three stars and five - three because, even though it was only built 12 years ago it is indeed crumbling, switches falling away from walls etc, and it was perhaps not a good idea to use cement as decoration in the first place... but then it...

This place is amazing! We had a garden bungalow and we didn't want to leave this island anymore. The secret island resort is so lovely: everywhere flowers, the ways made with shells, the staff is so nice, the food is good, the juices are delicious, the view gorgeous and the landscape is just a dream!!!!!!!! :) :) :) They have...

This is a very special place to stay. I've been here twice in the last couple of month and enjoyed my time immensely. This I stayed on one of the two amazing bungalows over the reef. Its quite amazing to hear the sound of the water while you're in your bed. Also to see the sea on 270 degrees and...

We had my short birthday getaway to Gili Gede. We drove our own scooter from Bali and yes we love the winding road going to Sekotong. Upon arrival Titin welcomed us and Peter was still enjoying his lovely swing in the garden then after greeted us too. We both knew we will have a great trip this time. We stayed...

Where do I start? If you are looking for luxury, with all the mod cons, this is not the place for you. If you are after an escape and a bit of isolation in a rustic, quirky part of the world, The Secret Island “Resort” on Gili Gede is well worth a visit. We stayed in the old bungalow over...

However I haven't slept in the hotel (we were staying on a sailing boat nearby), we went there for breakfast and dinner for quite a lot of times. The staff is amazing, so friendly, helpful, and honest people. They don't speak very good English but they really make every effort to make you feel relaxed and they are also very...

My husband and I stayed in one of the "over the reef bungalows". We stayed four nights there and could have stayed four more. The journey from Lombok airport is about one and half hours on quiet, scenic roads through tiny local villages. It felt great getting away from the tourists of the north Gili islands. We were welcomed by...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Secret Island Resort is a Eco friendly small resort with a very good small beach in front. We are slowly rising up to a 3 star quality hotel in a 5 star location. There are now 7 units with solar hot water and now there are 2 'Bungalows over the reef' available. These are stable units attached to a dock within easy walking distance to the Restaurant and lounge. These two bungalows over the water are the only ones in either Lombok or Bali. The snorkeling is great nearby and the fishing is still good to. SIR operates a 9 meter sport fishing boat called 'Scorpio' that is very good for touring the 12 South west gilis and snorkeling to. ... more   less
