..i wanted to leave the overcrowded gilis at north, so i decided to head south to gili gede...after a little search on the internet, i found secret island, wrote some emails to peter (the owner) and managed to book an accomodation in a budget room.. when i first arrived in gili gede, i thought "this is the place where i...

Awesome rooms right over the reef. Wake up in the morning and dive into the water with a thousand fish and bright blue star fish. The rooms are really funky made from reclaimde wood and interesting artifacts. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved staying in the bungalows over the reef. Being off the grid on a remote island was the perfect recharge. Siti and her crew were the sweetest and so friendly. The food was the best! The vegetables n fish in coconut was to die for. We enjoyed playing pool in the evenings with a beer before dinner. They...

We stayed here for 3 nights, not expecting the place to be in such rustic condition, but once you accepted this condition the place was comfortable to relax in, like the main building had a pool table and great music every evening. We had some of our best fun and laughs playing pool eating reasonable priced tasty food, and we...

The best thing about this place is that it's quite easy to escape from. I really regret that I hadn't checked the reviews about it. And I can not imagine who has written these few positive ones. The beach? No beach in a common sense, just some sqare meters of sand covered by garbage that probably come from thae mainland...

Hello Kris, We apologize for your lack of satisfaction. Secret Island Resort from January 16 until Feb 16 is running on our skeleton staff. Meaning we normally have our primary manager and manager Pak Adi and his highly well reviewed wife Siti the restaurant manager. But until Feb 16, because of the death of Titin's father they are absent and...

We went there mid December 2015. The pictures looked nice and we were fooled like so many others. All the rooms are in an extremely bad condition, like nobody cared to maintain *anything* for the last decade or so. This goes for the villa, the house and also the reef bungalows. The owner is an Indonesian woman married to an...

This is my third visit to SIR and I've had an awesome time every time. The location is incredible, surrounded by the sea on three side. I've stayed in three different room types here and enjoyed each. The bungalows over the reef are quite incredible with stunning views. Outside your room you can see fish swimming around the reef, one...

Thanks again David, Great Advice- And thank you for understanding that lots of our old wood is just that OLD wood. It was around before any of us were born and it will likely be around after we are gone: Magic stuff. Teak wood, burl teak wood and Iron wood, from old knock down house, Java bridges and Old traditional...

Have you always looked at those glossy travel magazines with the bungalows over the reef and longed for that experience but The Maldives and Bora Bora too far away and too expensive? Are you able to adjust your expectations to the cost and the relative conditions? If so Secret Island Resort, well actually not a resort as such, maybe the...

The key to enjoying Secret Island Resort is knowing what to expect. "Secret Island" is a bit of a misnomer--this is no white-beached castaway island; it's actually quite large and populated island, close to the mainland, with a number of small villages and a mosque. It doesn't have much in the way of good beaches, except for one lovely long...

On this special location we had the hill side bungalow. Beautiful view in a spacious bungalow. Altough the resort is a bit outdated; it has its charm and the always friendly staff makes you forget about that. They also have a great kitchen! Siti is the best!:-)

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Secret Island Resort is a Eco friendly small resort with a very good small beach in front. We are slowly rising up to a 3 star quality hotel in a 5 star location. There are now 7 units with solar hot water and now there are 2 'Bungalows over the reef' available. These are stable units attached to a dock within easy walking distance to the Restaurant and lounge. These two bungalows over the water are the only ones in either Lombok or Bali. The snorkeling is great nearby and the fishing is still good to. SIR operates a 9 meter sport fishing boat called 'Scorpio' that is very good for touring the 12 South west gilis and snorkeling to. ... more   less
