We traveled Sumba for a week with an awesome guide Mr John. John is extremely proud of his island and it’s culture. His knowledge of the history of Sumba made our trip so informative. John’s gentle manner and ability to speak in the different village dialects meant we were welcomed into the villages and markets we visited as well as being able to interact with the beautiful, friendly people of Sumba. We were never rushed and John was more than happy to guide us around this scenic island stopping often at our request to talk to locals. We would highly recommend him as a guide and can’t wait to go back! John is contactable on whats app +62 813-3747-9988

Who wrote the good reviews? There is nothing pleasing about this place. I am not going to go in details just don’t stay there... may be ok 20 years ago but now totally run down! One day no A/C, an other day no water, an other one no toilet flushing... Dinner very poor and expensive for Sumba but nowhere else around to go... A trap!

We stayed for 2 nighs in Dec 2017 as part of our 7 days in Sumba. This is one of luxurious Hotel for Sumba standard in my opinion after Nihi Watu and Waikabubak (of which we can not afford). We stayed in deluxe room and it was spacious. The hotel is in a quiet area and there is no surrounding restaurant so you have to eat in the restaurant. Food in the restaurant is expensive but they are tasty and you really don't have a choice. They have a very nice garden and it is nice to sit outside for breakfast looking at such a beautiful view of the garden and the sea. Mr Ali took us to Marosi beach on day 2. If you need his help to drop you you need to ask in advance. We played in the beach for few hours until he picked us up again on time

We will remember for ever our stay at Sumba Nautil. The hotel offers among the most spectacular sea view we ever had. Room was perfect and food was excellent. Beaches are most spectacular. Accessing them requires some effort, however (about 45mn walk down for closest beach, Pantai Marosi). friends of trekking will love this area. Marie and Albert, both in their sixties but in good shape

We had a wonderfull week in this resort. The rooms are clean en nice. We stayed in a luxe bungalow with a magnificient view! It is 20' walk down to the beautiful beach where we were the only foreigners. The way back is a little more difficult, because it is climbing! But if you don't like to walk Mr Ali drops and picks you up. In de middle of nowhere between small and traditional villages, we certainly come back before this beautiful, pristine and wild island becomes a new Bali. The owner, Mr Ali, his wife, kids and his staff are fantastic! The food is excellent! Terima Kasih!!
