We stopped by this hotel to have lunch after sightseeing nearby. We sat in their comfortable outdoor restaurant to enjoy a cold beer and the best mie goreng dish we had on our entire trip in Indonesia. We had the pleasure of meeting the two brothers, Reza and Aan, who managed the hotel, and they were a delight to talk with. Their hotel features a very unique shadow puppet museum and traditional instruments for live shows that they hold there. I was lucky enough to have a cooking lesson from their chef on how to make the mie goreng dish, an experience I will cherish forever! We're so happy for the connections we made at this hotel in Borobudur and we would definitely return again.

I chose this hotel due to its price which is very cheap around Rp 200.000,-/night for a standard room at the time of booking. No air-con needed because the weather here is just nice. The hotel is very quiet if no group of tourist around and you can hear no sound at all which helps me to sleep very well. The cleanliness is an issue here which I found cockroach feet on the bed sheet, so I slept at another bed ( I got twin bed ) and luckily I felt no itches which normally I felt if the sheet is dirty. The bathroom is also very simple with leaking closet and loose tap but still can be used. What stand out is the staffs here are very friendly and offer help whenever needed.

I stayed 2N there for Vesak 2013. Booked 3 months before since I know it's gonna be full booked due to the celebration in Borobudur. I heard that it has 2-night-minimum stay policy. For the dorm room it cost Rp25,000/bed/night (the number of the beds are between 8-14). The twin bed room cost Rp30,000/bed/night with fan. Both of those rooms are using sharing bathroom. Less than 15-minute walk to the Borobudur gate and around 30-minute walk to Mendut.

Pondok Tingal has a new design in almost all rooms. there is even 1 building that is completely new, with a contemporary design concept, and fresh. has a swimming pool, clean bathrooms, spacious rooms. The swimming pool is a great place to relax in the afternoon for family.

Pondok Tingal was not my first choice hotel but I have no choice since Manohara is full and Rajasa Hotel mixed up my reservation. I called Pondok Tingal to make reservation few days before we arrived and the reception informed me that only family rooms are available since the Banyumasan rooms are full (Both type of rooms offer hot shower). The room package does not come with breakfast.

When we arrived at Pondok Tingal, we were given 4 family rooms on the ground level. Once we open the room, there is a smell lingering in the room and we left the door open for quite a while. The aircon in our room is faulty and the staff spend quite some time repairing it. The toilet is in very poor condition:
- toilet floor is dirty
- the water from the shower is too small
- the toilet seat is spoilt
- water from the basin pipe is dripping

We ordered dinner from the hotel restaurant and service is slow. The mee goreng we ordered is quite salty.

We requested for a van to Borobudur the next day and the reception did arrange it for us. But they dont seem friendly and helpful enough. The hotel allowed us to leave our luggage at the reception counter when we went to Dieng plateau before returning at night to collect our luggage.

I had an unforgettable memory. lucky me, there were a java shadow puppet show at the hotel. it was like a fortune for me to had the chance to watch the show. and, it's for free.
Beside the rooms that neat and clean, they have good food at their restaurant as well. early morning went for sunrise trip and it was awesome. the guide from hotel were good.
for sure, i will stay here again. can't wait for their new building.

At a first glance, the place was not so bad for its price — nice but a little bit weary interior, perfectly good meals in the resto... However, it was full of rats, sqeaking and scratching behind the wall lining. In the morning, we saw two of them inside the room. Disgusting...

We've been there for one night. The room was shabby but because of the rainfall we were forced to stayed there. Other rooms were full because of the Buddhist celebrations. It was one of the cheapest rooms (160.000 Rhupias) so without hot water and air-con. But there has been a fan. Bathroom was dirty and dripping all the night which was annyoing. Bed linen was clean but smelly and moist.
In 7-minute walk distance on the same street there is a supermarket (sort of) and on the main drag (around 15-20 minutes from hotel) there is a chain supermarket.

was checked in to this hotel arranged by the organiser during my recent 3 days Buddhist Retreat from 18-20 may 202 at foot of Borobudur temple. when we check in to the room , the room emitted a mouldy smell and we rejected the room and was transferred to another room although the reception claimed that the hotel was fully booked. we were given a aircon room without hotwater,tv, internet ,fridge. we even have to pay for a jar of hot water flask !!! The only consolation is the room rate was cheap. about rp240.000/ S$32/nite. reception staff not helpful at all as they barely can communicate in english which quite surprising as there were many tourists there. have to communicate with them with my broken bahasa malaysia.. No taxi, trishaw and horse cart available to bring you to the nearest shops/market which is 15-20 minutes walk. Reception hall has a tv and free wifi access. restaurant service at the hotel was slow. would not recommend FIT travellers to stay there unless you are on group tour. cater more for the local.

Overall, its okay and average. The hotel is a bit dimmed and was a bit shocked at first because the first room they gave us has kinda fungus on the wall, aircond doesn't work at all, and so does the light in the bathroom. After we demanded for a new room, we got a better room, and everything were perfect. We were quite happy, and ended up celebrating our girlfriend's birthday at the lobby with their friendly staff.

we woke up early morning, and its a long walk to Borobudur temple for sunrise, but it was okay as it is still dark n breezy. Our walk back to the hotel was a disaster, under the hot sun. Get a taxi if you can, or just bring along a hat / umbrella?
