The location of this hotel in the center of Ubud is excellent, making it easy to walk to many places and restaurants. The rooms are beautiful and have a nice terrace to relax on. However, the bathrooms could be refurbished, as they have a bathtub and shower, but in somewhat dated condition.

An important point is the noise in some rooms facing the neighbouring venue, which has live music until midnight. In our case, we stayed four nights and requested a change of room.

The hotel has two fabulous swimming pools, one with wonderful views of a rice field. Breakfast is correct, with natural juice, fruit plate and tortilla, enough to start the day with energy.

The hotel complex is very good with the gardens so well kept.

We stayed here prior to covid and have come back. Great location on Monkey Forest road set back surrounded by rice paddy fields. Rooms are old Bali style with plenty of space. Gardens are lovely and again very traditional Bali. Breakfast supplied is limited however for us it was perfect as we can only eat so much at breakfast time. The location allows you to get out and about in Ubud however if it gets to hot or rainy you can get back to room then set off again later. Nothing is any trouble for lovely staff. This has become our go to place when we visit Ubud. Good tip is to contact Resort directly for prices as online booking companies can be very expensive.

I only stayed for one night as i had booked elsewhere for the rest of my stay. I wish i had stayed for longer. Beautiful calm oasis, wonderful early morning views of the paddy fields. The swimming pool area is the highlight, just wonderful in terms of serene views, you cannot help but relax
The place is just off one of the main high streets but once inside you could be anywhere...no noise from the streets!
The rooms all have private balconys with views of the surrounding fields

I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel in Ubud, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The location is perfect—just a short walk from an array of shops, cafes, and restaurants, making it easy to explore the vibrant local area. The hotel’s design is absolutely stunning. There are two gorgeous pools, and the gardens are dotted with statues that create a serene, almost magical atmosphere. The room was spacious, well-designed, and impeccably clean. Breakfast was also a highlight, with three options available. I tried the Indonesian breakfast, which was delicious and full of flavor. The restaurant was just beside one of the pools and had views to the rice fields—a perfect way to start the day. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always greeting me with a warm smile. They went above and beyond to make sure I had a wonderful stay. I definitely would recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Ubud; it truly exceeded all my expectations.

"I am currently in the middle of a 6-night stay at Cendana Resort & Spa in Bali, and I must say that I am loving it here! The resort's grounds are beautifully manicured, and my Suite 302 balcony overlooks the stunning gardens, bringing me such peace.

This is my second visit to Bali, and I wanted to stay at a traditional Balinese guesthouse, which is why I chose Cendana Resort & Spa. Although I am aware of the cost of living in Bali, I was surprised by the amazing price of only $44 per night, given the high quality of the resort.

As I prepare to move on to my 5-star resort next week, Conrad Bali, I almost don't want to leave Cendana Resort & Spa. The resort is located in the heart of Ubud, making it easily accessible to all the fantastic things Bali has to offer. However, once you are on the resort, you forget that you are in the heart of it all!

The staff has been lovely and accommodating, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and welcoming. Check out the attached pictures. If you are considering staying here as an option, I highly recommend it!"

I really loved this place. At first I was worried as we needed to have two rooms for our family which meant we would be separated. I had requested rooms together but they hadn't sorted this for us until I requested again on check. They found two rooms side by side, separated by a little courtyard, we were over looking their gorgeous back pool and the rice paddy fields. We had a lovely fish pond right outside our room and only a few steps to the pool. The net curtains were long enough to keep the mosquitos out so you could keep your door open should you wish. Our door was a bit finicky to lock so that could do with some maintenance. The bathroom was huge!
The location was so central - 15 minute walk to monkey forest and about 15 minutes to the markets. Lots and lots of great places to eat nearby and little supermarkets.
The hotel organised a driver for us so we could get out and see some sights.
I would definitely stay here again - good value for money.

We were staying at Cendana for about 24 days (22 Dec 2022 to 14 Jan 2023), Cendana was a lovely place to stay in Ubud, the room was clean and big, and the scenery outside the room was particularly beautiful, surrounded by all kinds of plants and flowers, as well as the rice fields. Hotel staffs were really friendly. The location was so convenience to go anywhere with a lot of cafes, restaurants and shops along the monkey forest road all within short walking distance. Definitely hightly recommended.

I stayed in this wonderful place as it was still before Bali opened up to Indonesian tourists. In the beginning I was a bit scared as I was all alone in the resort except the owner and a security guard. But I enjoyed my privacy especially since I had to work with my computer. Apparently the noisy CP lounge was not open but also my favourite places not yet open. Grab food delivered my food safely from the nearby restaurants and they offered discounts. My room was the one I already had last time, a deluxe room with view on the pool and rice fields. Rain power shower and both hand-held shower head, bath tub with another shower head and handheld shower. This time I was alone and only got one automatic umbrella. The wifi was pretty good although they told me it was slow. TV did not have as many stations but enough nice things to watch, incl some English-speaking ones.

This time I didn't order breakfast but there were coffee and teamaking facilities in the room as well as bottled water. The staff was not onsite but I could contact them at any time in case I needed help. A calm and serene oasis with artistic gardens and fish ponds and typical Balinese worship places. The resort is right in the city and near many shops, restaurants and cafes who started to assume their business hours.

The housekeeping staff came as usual to distribute offering baskets and maintain the garden. The gardener even put roses every day on my terrace table. I mostly ate traditional breakfast like lak lak or rice I bought at the market. Ayu Rita, the guest relations manager made her homemade risoles and sold it for a reasonable price.

This hotel is located in walking distance to restaurants, market, palace, rice fields, Campuhan ridge and Campuhan steps. I will definitely come back again.

Arrived to friendly reception staff, shown to room an hour before the 2pm checkin. I had the standard room. It was very basic, dated and dark. No safe, door and wooden windows difficult to open/close. The bathroom was in dire need of an overhaul. Both room and bathroom were a good size, not too small. I adjusted to the room after an hour and then started to really like it, nothing fancy but very traditional. Unfortunately there were some noisy drainage works going on outside my room so the next day I asked to be moved to another room. Reception and manager were excellent, moving me to another room without argument. This was at the the front of the building, a huge room and a little more modern. A superior room and no extra charge. I was a little worried as many reviews talk about these rooms and the noise of the live music but honestly it was very hard to hear any music and it was generally finished by midnight. The 2 pools are great, especially the one at the rear of the resort. The breakfast selection isn’t large but the service and food is fantastic. Fresh juice to order, relaxing area, delicious food, especially the pancakes. If you need laundry, don’t bother searching other laundries, use theirs as its cheap and reliable. The resort is in the best location, so close to everything. I have been staying in Ubud for 10 years and really annoyed at myself that it has taking me this long to find Cendana. This is the ONLY place to stay in Ubud. Special mention to the hotel staff, they are very friendly and helpful.

Family of 10 spread out in various rooms. Travelled during rainy season too. Absolutely amazing place to stay. It gives you the REAL bali culture and feeling. Staff are kind and patient, the grounds are immaculate, and the whole vibe and energy gives you a sense of peace.

Location is great, walking distance to both shops, restaurants, monkey forest, palace, and ubud art markets.

Rooms are all spacious and clean, not modern but its fine with us. Breakfast always delicious (we miss the pineapple and papaya jam 😍)

Only downside would be the club next door. My room was on top of the first building and the club was loud till 2am maybe (earplugs would probably help)
Everyone else said their rooms were fine though, even the room under us didn't hear club noise. So maybe just avoid the first buildings top floor (Can't remember room number.

Went to Sanur then Kuta after staying here and all the family had the same thing to say.. "we should've just stayed in Ubud at Cendana". Absolutely lovely place. 5 stars from us.

Not interconnecting. Big rooms with equally as big bathrooms. All rooms have balconies. We have stayed a couple of times now and love the place. Best location.

Our whole group are non smokers. We weren't aware of smokers at Cendana - so I assume that the guests who are smokers respected the non smokers and kept well away.
