Good day to all. We would like to leave a review about this wonderful place. We lived in this hotel from 11/29/12/23 in room 204 and were very pleased. We were greeted with welcome chilled drinks and checked in immediately. The room is excellent, large in Balinese style: a huge king-size bed, TV, air conditioning, iron, fumigator, tea set, kitchenette, slippers and all accessories in the bathroom were in place. Gorgeous outdoor shower room. Wonderful green well-groomed area, many different interesting statues, a clean pool in which we swam in the evenings after our walks. There were practically no people in the hotel, but the staff still “kept their mark.” The bartender at the pool always played music and made delicious cocktails just for the two of us. Breakfast a la carte, with a choice of 3 items. The portions are very large and tasty. We have something to compare with, a lot of experience traveling to other countries. There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the center of Ubud, schedule at reception. Relatively close to the center there is a monkey forest, a currency exchange and many cafes, shops and souvenir shops. The hotel exceeded our expectations and although we are not used to vacationing in the same place, we will definitely return to this hotel! Thanks to the hotel staff for their hospitality and colorful comfort. We are delighted! See you again!

We selected this hotel based on all the positive reviews we read on Trip Advisor. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The location is right next to the river and you really feel at one with nature. However, it’s not the best overall location. I thought I’d read in a review that it was a doable walk to the centre but there are no paths so not practical. The hotel has a tatty feel about it. They could do with updating the bedding, curtains and towels which are shabby. The pillows were cheap and uncomfortable. The breakfast was very basic but they accommodated our needs by making pancakes to order. The highlight was actually Sage restaurant, across the road, which is some of the best vegan food I’ve eaten.

This hotel was excellent value for money. The staff were all amazing - so friendly and accommodating. I loved that they were kind to the stray animals that hang around looking for bits of food. The rooms were huge with excellent aircon. The pool with the swim up bar was lovely. It's a bit far from the centre of Ubud but taxis are v cheap and there's a shuttle bus which runs several times a day. I would definitely book here again.

After more than 15 years, I was thrilled to return to Bali Spirit. The River Suite that I booked was comfortable and spacious, with a beautiful river view. Breakfasts were delicious were efficient and friendly service, and if you arrive early, you can also select a table with a beatiful view. Reception staff were also friendly and efficient- once when I called to let them know that the normally great Wi-Fi had stalled, they sent someone immediately to restore it. The pool is lovely, and if you hike down a bit from the pool you can go for a nice riverside stroll. With reasonably priced rooms, Bali Spirit definitely merits 5 stars!

Old-fashioned room and poor hygiene
Reception to be seen again even if we arrived at 6:30 p.m., the welcome must be impeccable
As soon as the welcome cocktail was served, after drinking 2 sips the glass was removed.
The empty restaurant scared us away

A supplement of 1600,000 rupees for an extra bed whereas when booking it was 400,000 rupees

The Hotel is very old, bathroom very old and basic, we had problems with the hot water and internet. The pool is dangerous for kids and is a very unconfortable hotel as there is a lot of stairs to go to the restaurant, pool, spa....specially if you are injured or having mobility issues. The breakfast quality is very poor and the spa is very bad quality.

We also paid more to have room view to the river but they have a noise road Infront too. I regret we stay here as there are so many lovely places around Ubud and even at better prices.

One of the worst part was the service from the hotel management, we had a late flight on our checkout and as we were with a baby we asked if we could leave our bags in the room and come back later to get a quick shower. They said no eventough the hotel was super empty due to low season and the Coronavirus panic that's is going on around the world. I even had to start negotiating the price to stay a bit longer with the baby, like in a cheap market. They try to charge me for a full day, then half day and so on. So so bad, never in my life I seen such a cheap treatment.

We are people, not frecking walking money.

There are plenty beautiful places in Ubud with way better services that treat people like people.

I would never repeat or recommend this place

Lovely traditional Bali hotel in riverside setting with lovely gardens. Nice spacious rooms, lovely pool with swim up bar. With great music . Delightful staff and good shuttle service to Ubud centre. Only negatives are the restaurant we ate lunch and dinner there on our first day and were the only customers we saw in the restaurant on our 5 night stay apart from breakfast. A more varied menu would have meant we didn’t have to go into Ubud for meals. Spa also not up to scratch very basic not worth the price . I understand covid has made things difficult but some tweaking needs to be done.

Unfortunately we didn't enjoy this hotel as much as were hoping 😔 The hotel is very old and tired for the price you pay!! Our bathroom was in desperate need for an upgrade, the shower curtain was disgusting, Water took atleast 10min to get warm. Water didn't go down drain to well so it was to our ankles while showering.
Could feel the bed mattress springs, my husband ended up sleeping on the small lounge/ bench.
Doors to balcony have quite a big gap so we put a towel there to stop bugs/mozzies coming in. The room just needs a good clean/ dust!
Pool area was lovely, always someone there to sever drinks.
Reception staff always greeted us with a smile but most of the lady staff at breakfast seem unhappy and sick of the job.
Overall there are much more nicer. places to stay for this type of money, unfortunately couldn't wait to leave bali spirit.

A nice hotel with a traditional appeal and grar jungle views. Rooms in the main building are spacious and comfortable. The pool is fun for kids and the breakfast area overseeing the luscious green trees surrounding the hotel. Staff are all friendly.

Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I broke my leg on a hike while I was staying there and the staff really went out of there way to help me. My girlfriend had an allergic reaction to a meal we had in Ubud and the staff from restaurant brought us honey. Really nice stay in Ubud

They say there are a lot of steps.? Are they rooms that don't require a lot of steps to get to..?
Answer from Viczenden

Yes there are rooms with less steps! And even many of the ones with steps are not a lot of steps and not far from amenities. I would just ask when you book for a room with least amount of steps. They are very accommodating. It’s is an amazing resort!

I think most suites would have a view the Lebong suite did. You can see a river and lots of forest, not an epic view but very nice, especially for the price. It’s walking distance to monkey forest and therefore Ubud centre but there is free shuttle is well, we paid $9 extra a night for shuttle but pretty sure it’s free anyway, it takes you right to middle of Ubud and is very regular

Not really but there's a shuttle bus that goes several times a day for free which is awesome.
