Kappa Senses Ubud is frequently lauded for its spacious and stylish rooms with private pools, though privacy and air conditioning receive occasional criticism. Nestled amidst rice fields, its peaceful location is adored by guests, despite being a bit remote; fortunately, a shuttle to Ubud's center is available. The hotel's atmosphere, infused with traditional Balinese culture and natural beauty, alongside its spotless cleanliness and well-kept facilities, is consistently praised. Luxurious pools, a well-equipped gym, and a serene spa are among the top-notch amenities guests enjoy. The attentive and warm service adds to the experience, offering good value despite some pricier dining and spa options.

Hotel's Favourite

The resort is absolute perfection. Every staff member warmly greets you and wishes you a pleasant stay. Upon check-in, I was offered two complimentary homemade juices—a thoughtful touch. My suite featured breathtaking views of both the jungle and rice fields, creating a serene atmosphere. The rooms are cleaned twice daily, and complimentary fruit is provided. The resort has two swimming pools, but my favorite was the jungle pool. Exceptionally long and nestled within lush greenery, it even had a small waterfall, making it the perfect spot for my daily swim practice.

The breakfast buffet was truly exceptional—one of the best I’ve ever had. A perfect 10 out of 10. It offered an incredible variety, from sweet to savory, with both Western and Asian dishes, hot and cold options, an assortment of breads and pastries, and even cakes. There were plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, a juicer for fresh-made fruit juice, and a coffee bar that also served iced coffee. Devi, a staff member, recognized my name when she saw me and remembered my food preferences, which was truly heartwarming.

The highlight of my stay was the peacefulness of the room. As someone who suffers from insomnia and wakes up at the slightest noise, I truly appreciated the complete silence. For the first time, I could fall asleep relaxed, without worrying about being disturbed by noise pollution—an absolute dream come true!

Everything about our eight night stay at Kappa Senses was a delight, particularly because of the warmth, charm and attentiveness of the staff from the youngsters serving in the outstanding restaurants to the managers, foyer staff, gardeners and cleaners. Smiles and good humour met us everywhere. Included in our stay was an extraordinarily delicious breakfast with everything one could desire from fresh fruit to muesli and yoghurt, from freshly prepared traditional hot Balinese dishes to salads, eggs, bacon, pastries, fresh breads of many kinds with local conserves, healthy freshly prepared fruit juices, spiced elixirs, coffee, tea and much more. All superbly presented in a spacious area overlooking lush rice fields.

Additionally, we had the choice of lunch or dinner which was a culinary delight in a restaurant overlooking the pool and greenery beyond. Again, the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes which were delicious. Service was excellent. Also we were treated to a cocktail each evening served by a lovely young lady with an infectious smile who mixed our drinks to perfection.

Another delight, included in our reservation, were two saunas and hour-long massages by supremely experienced and capable masseuses who rejuvenated and invigorated us wonderfully.

Daily, we made use of the free and reliable shuttle service to and from Ubud, safe in the hands of experienced drivers. Also, the hotel receptionists booked us a five hour taxi tour of the Ceking rice terrace and Mount Batur as well as our return taxi to Denpasar airport very efficiently and at fair prices.

Lastly I must mention the room and hotel gardens. Our room was huge and well maintained with large comfortable bed overlooking the secluded pool, surrounded by tropical greenery, and having an enormous bathroom a few steps down and a spacious sitting room a few steps up. Again, the staff were hospitable, friendly and efficient.

To conclude, our stay at Kappa Senses was a joy. Highly recommended!

Probably one of the most beautiful hotels we have stayed at.
We who love wood could only love the style of the rooms, the small terrace with pool and the bathroom open to the outside.
Same for the exterior fitters.

We spent 5 days in a great calm what we were looking for.

If possible, we could put a 10 star rating on breakfast and staff. From the reception to the restaurant staff and the shuttle drivers, we only met adorable people who for some were happy to show us that they could speak in French 😉

In short, we need more Kappa Senses hotels!

I couldn't believe the place had only been open for a little more than two years. The abundant foliage helps you feel at one with nature.

We stayed for one week in a pool villa overlooking the rice fields. The experience was perfect in every sense. Comfortable room, fitted gym and top notch dining options. Breakfast to die for (the first time I’ve had a proper croissant in Indonesia!). Huge compliments to the Executive Chef and the F&B team (including Danu at the bar). The housekeeping team has been equally efficient; the level of cleanliness is hard to match.

This is one of the most fantastic hotels for experiencing exquisite surroundings, comforts, and conveniences amidst tropical nature.

This hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to Ubud operating every two hours and it takes about 30 mins to reach the city's centre.

Hotel’s location is pretty remote. It took us more than two and half hours to reach the airport located only just over 30km away! But,,, this is Bali... So plan carefully if you don’t want to miss the plane. It’s very easy to get carried away by the peaceful indulgence.

High quality luxury hotel. Infrastructure is new two large swimming pools, one in the jungle.
Some rooms also have a personal pool, the room is spacious Apart from the air conditioning which is difficult to adjust (on you all night) everything else is perfect
The staff is very attentive and competent,
We had several atypical requests that were quickly resolved
A special mention for the Deputy Director and For Salomé who are particularly attentive
Restaurants are great qualities, the location in the rice field is very relaxing and non-noisy
I highly recommend this property. You won't be disappointed.

We spent 7 nights at Kappa Senses in a room with a (cold) pool overlooking the (ravaged) rice fields. Good and not so good here.
As with the vast majority of hotels in Bali, the staff at Kappa were at all times warm, friendly and very accommodating. Despite the hotel operating just under 12 months, it was apparently near completion at the beginning of Covid and subsequently mothballed, hence the gardens are mature and the better for it. The landscaping of the property was a highlight. As was the rooms large, outdoor bathroom.
Surrounded by rice fields it’s important to note that these neighbouring properties are working farms, unlike some other Ubud hotels where they are decorative props. On our recent visit the fields had been harvested and were being burnt off, leaving a not so picturesque vista and somewhat smoggy conditions. If you want the lush green rice fields Ubud is famous for and seen in all the promotional material I suggest July is not the month to book. If I were to return I’d make inquiries with the property regarding the status of the panorama. Note also the neighbouring cocks (feather variety), of which there are many, like to rise before dawn. And alert you to the fact.
The location of the hotel was further to central Ubud than we would have liked. Ubud suffers from heavy traffic congestion so trips into town took between 20-30 minutes each way. There is a shuttle bus that operates but finishes at 5pm.
There’s a few design flaws for a resort. We never felt comfortable. The room had a timber sofa in the corner and a tight deck, both were not very hospitable. And the resorts sun beds are not adjustable which is not ideal. A first world problem I acknowledge but living with that for a week is frustrating.
None of the pools, including the one in our room, had internal steps requiring an unbecoming commando roll to exit for this nearly 60 year old. A somewhat baffling design decision which really needs to be addressed. The river pool seems like an afterthought, and with the sun beds all positioned on muddy grass, it just was not a pleasant place to be at all. Grass and pools in my view are not ideal companions, especially in regions prone to heavy rainfall.
The biggest disappointment was the food. It’s just not very good, nor consistent, even the Indonesian dishes. It was a big negative for us. Breakfast was ok but the coffee dispensed from automatic machines was undrinkable.
Overall nice people, however in my view Kappa Senses lacks finesse and if you are looking for a true 5 star experience this hotel is not for you. The good news is many of these gripes, including the food, can be resolved over time.

Dear ElmerHartman, Thank you for your thorough review which we really appreciated. Delighted that you highlighted our beautiful, lush landscapes and the large rooms and outdoor bathroom. We have taken notes on your other feedback. Sadly, we have not heard about the food comment from yourself during the stay, otherwise our Executive Chef and his team would be delighted to meet and create dishes as per your particular taste. Thank you again and we would be delighted to welcome you back and experience a true five-star experience which our team passionately always put forward. We never left the property! It was that good, forget traffic this place is a complete dining and relaxation destination. Our awesome room so so spacious, artfully designed and housekeeping staff were so quick to provide anything we requested also bonus coffee machine. We loved the two beautiful pools, special thanks to Nyoman for his dedication to excellent poolside service. Made's yoga classes were a great inclusion in the peaceful Shala overlooking the greenery. Spa was perfect with steam and infra red sauna. ALL the food was delicious. Love the garden and animals too. An absolute oasis, we will return soon :)

We spent 2 weeks in this beautiful establishment worthy of a real 5 stars the staff is just great always with little care and smiling. We really suck in English they make the effort to learn every day a little word in French to welcome us Nathan advised us very well and organize for all excursions thanks to all the staff of the restaurant especially Devi Della Estuna Putu and ERi who takes care of the rooms. Thanks to Aryan for his precious help and good luck to Salomè who makes his debut in this wonderful adventure. Without hesitation we will return

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kappa. Everyone working there is so friendly and helpful, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The breakfast/lunch buffet was included with our stay and was outstanding -- eggs any way you want, make your own fresh juice, local dishes, pastries, freshly baked bread and much more--this meal easily held us until dinner. The property is sizeable and so lush with two beautiful pools. The villas are also very luxurious and at least ours was standalone, so great privacy and very quiet. Another great feature of Kappa are the free daily activities -- yoga, visits to a local temple, coffee making, etc. Grab bikes/cars are so inexpensive to get into town or other parts of Ubud. I'm already planning my next trip to Kappa :-)

The Kappa Senses is a perfect place to enjoy your holiday! The complex is very well maintained and you feel like you are in paradise among all the palm trees and flowers. The whole team, without exception, is competent, friendly, helpful and very attentive. Breakfast leaves nothing to be desired and the food in both restaurants is characterized by high quality and a beautiful plate language. The attention to detail is everywhere. Nothing is missing and you feel completely happy and comfortable. Thanks to ALL who made sure that we had a wonderful time in this paradise place.
