The food was fabulous - I've never liked mango until I had Balinese mango! Incredible sunrises. Hotel-quality accommodations with luxury shampoo/conditioner/body wash. Great care taken with providing fresh, drinkable water in the rooms each day (and at a cooler in the main area). Beautiful space for yoga practice. Miss Agung was the perfect hostess!

Villa Gaia sets the bench mark for luxury that others can only aspire to.
What sets Villa Gaia apart is their attention to detail.
On arrival, I was greeted by the scent of sweet-smelling freesias placed just outside my room. Inside, there were more pretty flowers sitting on the table.
My bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. It was like sleeping on a cloud. They have found the delicate balance of a deliciously, soft topper and a semi firm mattress underneath, that gives a perfect sleep. The pure cotton linen was of the highest quality and so soft to touch, and the mosquito netting was of the finest cotton, not made of synthetic material, as is so often found in other villas.
The staff were all solicitous, kind and always willing to help in any way. They kept the whole place spotless, especially the floors, and maintain the whole property to the highest standards. My room was cleaned every day and my bed made beautifully.
I loved the pool and the sauna, and the open plan living room with lots of comfortable seating, so suitable for indoor/outdoor living, and which allows for the cooling breezes to blow through. It gives an incredible view of the pool and the green palm trees and forest beyond.
The new A/C unit in my bedroom was completely inaudible when the fan was turned off, the quietest I have ever heard, and maintained the coolness of the room perfectly. The air in the room was not overly dry as I have experienced in other accommodation.
The atmosphere was quiet, peaceful and relaxed. There was fresh water, ginger, tea, coffee, another teas available all day. Everywhere I looked, there was evidence of awareness around the disposal of rubbish, recycling, leaving a minimal carbon footprint, and consideration and care for other guests.
Do I recommend it? Yes, absolutely. You will not be disappointed in the staff, accommodation and facilities.

I recently hosted a retreat at Gaia Retreat Center, and it was truly the perfect setting for deep heart connection. The energy here is incredibly calm and loving; it instantly makes you feel at home and provides a comfortable space to go deeper into your personal journey. My participants absolutely loved the fresh, nourishing, and abundant food served daily—it was not only delicious but truly fueling for body and soul.
The friendly staff at Gaia were exceptional, always making every request possible with a warm smile. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone’s needs were met, creating a genuinely welcoming environment. The rooms were so cozy and offered the ultimate relaxation with comfortable bedding that made it easy to unwind.

I just returned from a 9 day yoga retreat at Gaia. It could not have been a more perfect trip! Arriving at the airport with a driver waiting, even holding a sign with my name. Immediately greeted at Gaia with a welcome drink of a fresh coconut and dinner. The food was always fresh and delicious. I’ve never had tofu but it was delicious. The fresh fruits every morning with fresh juices or smoothie was refreshing. Water provided in the room each day and a cooler in the dining area. Delicious Bali coffee and teas provided 24/7. The accommodations were perfect. Room and bathroom were cleaned daily along with the entire facility. Fluffy fresh towels provided along with shampoo, conditioner and bath wash. The staff were so friendly, happy and helpful. Ms. Agung was the perfect hostess. She was very knowledgeable and helped our group plan our excursions to beat the crowds. She also arranged transportation to make things as enjoyable as possible. The location is walkable to a convenience store, restaurants and shopping. The pool was wonderful! The hot tub and cold plunge were great options too. The spa services were magical and very affordable.
I cannot emphasize enough what a perfect trip this was. Where do you go where you can shower outside with flower petals falling and sounds of the jungle but completely private? I cannot wait to return!

I hosted my first ever Yoga retreat at Villa Gaia and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The team at Villa Gaia were super attentive, present, and happy to support and help out in every way possible with a big smile! A special thank you to the Villa Manager, Agung, she felt like my right hand on this retreat.
The place was kept clean at all times. The quality of the bed sheets, towels and mosquito nets on the beds was high. The food served was always fresh and full of flavor (some of my retreat participants even asked for the granola to take back home, and that was happily arranged for them!). Every day, a new mandala of fresh flowers would be created in our yoga space. The arrangement for excursions was always of best service. And the complementary Balinese dance performance arranged to close our time there was the sweetest surprise.
I loved the coziness of the place and staff, myself and the retreat participants really felt at home. And I can't wait to be back later in the year to host my second retreat with Villa Gaia!

This retreat is perfectly located within walking distance of downtown, but still feels like an oasis. It was also not far from the Pyramids of Chi and several water temples.
The accommodations were very nice and the chef who served the food was amazing. We had vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and meat options available, along with fresh juices.
The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful with airport pickup, laundry service, and taxi service to nearby locations.
Can't wait to go back for another stay!

I am expressing so much gratitude for Gaia Retreat Center. I hosted a retreat for ten ladies and the support I received in organizing the retreat was outstanding. The center is walking distance to many shops and stores, the food served was AMAZING, the energy of the space and the staff was more than a positive experience. Agung was absolutely delightful in providing a customized experience for my group with her amazing story telling and details on the history behind the excursions we took. The beds were soft and plush which helped all of us have a sound and peaceful sleep waking up to the sounds of birds chirping every morning. Again, THE FOOD was amazing— the plant based and raw vegan selections we were served was by far the best food we had during our stay in Ubud.

Just got home from leading a 9-night yoga retreat at Gaia, and couldn’t be more pleased! I’ve led international retreats for years, but this was my first retreat in Asia. Gaia’s staff provided all the info necessary to help us prepare - from knowing what to expect upon arrival at the airport and arranging transportation, to guiding us through recommendations for additional outings, meals, etc. The center itself is gorgeous. The rooms are comfortable and clean, shared space is great for group practices and lounging, and the views are breathtaking. Amazing staff (very professional and kind) and delicious food. It’s walkable to busy parts of town, but far enough away that it’s quiet. We ALWAYS felt safe. As a retreat leader, the communication was easy and everyone was helpful. I highly recommend Gaia, and am looking forward to bringing another group to share the magic with!

Everyone loves sleeping in these sheets the only problem is its hard to get out of bed in the morning with such a soft and fluffy bed lol. I attended a raw vegan detox retreat here in early 2019. From the moment I entered the property there was a calmness that took over my entire being. The grounds are nestled in Ubud jungle and are kept authentic and clean. The staff and the service they provide is what made this experience life-changing. Every single need or want is tended to. Want a massage? Want freshly prepared cuisine? Want to tour a temple? Want to take a Botony walk and learn about Bali naturally occuring herbs? Want to take a cooking class? Not only were my needs met, but they were so good with informing us about culture and expectations. This saved (me in particular) any embarrassment from not knowing these things as I entered temple, or walked through the rice fields, or embarked on a ritual purification at a Balinese water temple. By the end of my trip, I was emotional leaving my new Balinese family at Gaia. I cannot wait to see them all again!
