So many options to choose from in Bali for a weekend getaway, with countless write-ups and reviews. But as they say, nothing beats a friend's recommendation. So, on their advice, I decided to celebrate my wife's birthday at Soulshine. Intriguing name, right? Looked promising on social media, so I went ahead and booked. The check-in process was smooth, albeit a bit lengthy and warm. However, the staff were incredibly friendly. The suite I booked was simply stunning, boasting lush green views and an amazing bathtub adorned with an abundance of flowers—ladies, you'll love it! Two standout features, the welcome drink, expertly prepared by a bartender in our room—such a cool touch. And let's not forget the 'old-school' record player in the room—nostalgic charm at its finest. Only folks from my generation might truly appreciate it, I doubt my kids would even recognize a vinyl disc, let alone know how to operate it! After indulging in a few hours of relaxation in the luxurious bathtub and listening to some classic tunes, I arranged a dinner with the GM. And what a setup it was—our own private table overlooking the rice fields, adorned with flowers and impeccable service, not to mention the outstanding dinner. Kudos to the entire team! Overall, it was a fantastic stay. While the food was good, there's room for improvement, particularly with breakfast. The system for guests with breakfast included in their room rate seemed a bit disjointed. Nonetheless, hats off to Soulshine—we'll definitely be back someday and would highly recommend it to others.. Overall, a great experience, though perhaps a slight upgrade to the sound system wouldn't hurt. Thanks again!

If you like yoga retreats, this was far and away the best I've ever experienced. Michael Franti -and his entire crew of chefs, yoga instructors, life coaches and of course his true love Sara Franti - is a perfectionist and authentic in spirit and his craft. Imagine Michael Franti playing acoustic every morning for Shavasana and maybe sharing a new song he wrote the night before...
Accomodations - all the rooms have luxury bedding, sparkling clean, authentic balinese decor. Spend a bit more and get a room with a private plunge pool.
Food is excellent with excellent gluten free and vegan options as well as fish and chicken at every evening meal. Mounds of local fresh fruit every AM are set out with coffee and tea for a refreshment prior to morning soul sessions and yoga. Full hot breakfast (mostly balinese with egg dishes added) is served at 10:00A. Dinner at about 6P to gather after the day's excursions, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail before the evening events. There were two special Michael Franti concerts during the week, a local traditionalm balinese group of musicians and dancers, a kareoke night, a local Balinese rock band and two DJ nights.
Spa services were exquisite (I did 90 minutes of deep tissue at ridiculously affordable prices), and there were many choices for excursions and shopping. Reception will book a car into UBUD anytime you want.
You can't go wrong booking this retreat except to think you can book last minute. The soulrocker retreats fill up far in advance. Plan to spend a few days in Bali afterwards to decompress from this amazing experience. Blessings!

Go for a Retreat! Pros: Serenity, lush, clean, fun, centering, yet close to Ubud center (taxi not walk), aim to please – food options and plenty for me as vegan (franti is vegan wohoo – so I read). Big lovely panoramic rooms. If you are lucky like we were, Franti and his team were there. So great to enjoy some of his music on site. He actually came into our retreat and performed with his talented bandmate and drummer, Manus. Wow were we so lucky!
Rooms: newer building, panorama was large, light, lovely, and perfectly decorated. This hotel does it Right! Tea in room, comfortable bed, little home made bed side treat along with a story about a Bali legend. Well appointed. No bug issues. views give you an expansive yet lush feeling...like i want to unfurl my wings. Small balcony with a "floating" chair that i loved. Turntable with 3 fab records in my room. So fun. loved the robes in the room that i asked at the store front desk for a new one for purchase.
Cultural night was so lovely as was market night…and then the dancing and the DJ… This is a great place to go with a group of friends. I went on a planned retreat and highly recommend or go with group of friends.
There are a few pool areas so you can have more quiet and shade or the more happening one near the Togetherness area. The waterslide is short and packs a punch - we loved it. do it! swings for gentle glides, Spa is great! Loved walking around by the stream in evening and doing a loop around the property (some villas back behind the property that were fun to see too) with its evening magical fireflies.
People were friendly at Soulshine...felt as if you could be quiet and reflect or strike up an interesting conversation.
Sound healer Pak – the best ever and this is from a discerning crowd…a healer, a true mystic.
Great leadership in the manager Agus S. Way to go! It starts at the top and the whole team were all pleasant, kind, engaged.

We have stayed twice over the past couple of months and will continue to visit. The location is set amongst the jungle with truly breathtaking views, it's magical. On arrival you are welcomed by the beautiful staff with a drink and cold towel, immediately you feel part of the Soulshine family. The pool area is amazing, be brave and try out the water slide, so fun. The new togetherness lounge is epic and is a very special space to hang with family and friends. I'd recommend paying a little extra and include the breakfast - such a yummy way to start the day and the coffee is great. Can't wait to visit again soon.

We are currently staying at Soulshine Bali, and while the rooms and premises, especially the rice terraces and pool, are truly stunning, the service could use some improvement. You are constantly being asked where you’re going and if you want to order, often the same question by different staff within the span of 5 minutes, which can get a bit overwhelming. Some of the staff are not well-trained, and the valet staff were dismissive and rude, particularly if you arrange your own transport via Grab.
We chose this hotel largely because my wife is a yoga teacher and was hoping for daily yoga sessions. However, there’s only one basic yoga class per day, which was a bit of a letdown. Additionally, there is no gym on-site, which was disappointing for a wellness-focused hotel.
The food is also overpriced and, in most cases, not great. While the setting is beautiful, it feels like the hotel goes out of its way to drain your wallet. Excursions, spa treatments, and tours are almost double the price of what you can find elsewhere.
That said, the hotel uses a convenient app for communicating with staff, and they did help arrange a lovely surprise for my wife’s birthday, which we appreciated.
Overall, the rooms and views are incredible, but service, amenities, and pricing need improvement.

We attended the Soulshine Soulrocker retreat in February. The experience was everything we had hoped it would be x100. We set out with an intention: to be rested, practice self-care, indulge, reflect and experience newness. A support network has been built with fellow Soulrockers who also enjoy the music of Michael Franti & Spearhead and want to live a mindful life filled with good vibes. The staff was absolutely amazing! They were attentive, worked hard and truly cared about our community enjoying the retreat. Tremendous pride in their work was evident. Michael & Sara were gracious and generous with their time and talents. The food was scrumptious and our Panorama room offered a marvelous view of the rice fields. Daily yoga with Gina was therapeutic and fun! An unexpected added bonus was taking part in a few guided meditation sessions with Cappy. Book the trip, stay at Soulshine and feel your energy from within expand to greatness.

Soulshine is a very special place. My girlfriend and I just attended a yoga retreat here and had one of the most heart opening experiences. Soulshine is made with love and you can feel it in the details through the rooms, the food, the staff, the yoga rooms, the grounds, and even the waterslide. The Franti's seemed like they had a lot of heartfelt intention with all parts of the resort, and it only helps amplify the charge you receive from the island of Bali. This is a place you can go and really be present, so I recommend leaving you devices behind, and soak in the breath taking view of the rice fields and jungle that surround the property. When you want to explore Ubud, the great staff at Soulshine will help you get to where ever you need to go, and have plenty of recommendations. Thank you Michael, Sarah, and the Soulshine family for creating this truly special place, that helped me open my heart deeper and have a magical experience.

We attended a retreat at Soulshine and it was an amazing experience. From the friendly staff that made you feel welcome and part of a family to the delicious freshly made food to the beautifully decorated rooms, you could see and feel the care and thoughtfulness that went into created this special place. We had several treatments at the spa that left us feeling so relaxed. We stayed in one of the panorama penthouse suites and indulged in the in room Balinese baths which was pure bliss. We highly recommend for couples, families or solo for a dreamy vacation in paradise.
