As a person who considers myself well travelled after visiting many different countries and hotels across the world I have got to say that this is the best hotel and holiday that I have ever experienced. The Royal Kamuela is a true five star hotel and Ubud in Bali is an amazing place to visit with so much to do, see and eat!

We stayed at the Royal Kamuela for six nights in one of the Garden Villas. From start to finish the level of service is at an unbelievably high standard at the Royal Kamuela. The staff take a genuine interest in speaking with you and making sure that you are having the best holiday possible. The resort is small, quiet and peaceful which makes it feel much more intimate and boutique like which we loved. It is full of wonderful little touches with incredibly attentive staff.

We must mention Suli in reception who went out of his way during our stay and even took us on a day tour to some of the temples and other attractions. He was an absolute credit to the hotel and we highly recommend asking for him to take you on any of the tours that the hotel offer as he is knowledgable, polite and great fun. He even made recommendations for trips later during our holiday in other areas of Bali and is just an incredibly genuine and thoughtful person.

Restaurant
The hotel restaurant is called ‘Shrida Taste of Ubud’. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis so had breakfast each day and also lunch on a couple of occasions and dinner once by our pool. The reviews of the restaurant are superb and we can validate these. The breakfast is superb and comes with a large number of options. We loved the eggs Benedict, Shrida granola (dragon fruit, mango, papaya, banana etc and homemade granola) and poached eggs. Freshly squeezed fruit juice, infused water, tea and the Bali coffee were all lovely too.

The lunch and dinner menus provide local options as well as Asian and more traditional western food. Once again all superb and at really competitive prices. The level of service in the restaurant is superb and it is a lovely setting by the pool. There is also a rooftop terrace by the restaurant which we really enjoyed too and would recommend.

Room
The private villas are genuinely breathtaking and come with a 12 metre pool, huge comfortable bed, indoor jacuzzi, walk in shower, outdoor shower and outside seating and kitchen area. The whole villa has panoramic windows which gave a real sense of luxury and great views onto the swimming pool and outside area. Fruit, cookies and Bali coffee are all provided on arrival which were lovely touches. Each day Bali coffee, water, bath salts and lovely toiletries are replaced. Housekeeping had a huge team working together to make the room immaculate once again so by the time we returned from breakfast each day the room was ready in a very short space of time.

Spa
We enjoyed two massages during our stay. The first was a complimentary back massage (we asked if we could have this instead of a foot or head massage) and the second a full body Balinese massage. Both were incredible and were followed by an amazing herbal tea. The spa staff are so polite and friendly and are superb at what they do.

Location
The hotel could not be better located. It is in the heart of Ubud about 2 minutes walk from the Monkey Forest and Ubud Palace. As you drive down the high street and turn into the hotel we were surprised at how lovely the hotel grounds were. There are numerous incredible places to eat in Ubud in walking distance and Ubud as a place to visit feels incredibly safe. We would highly recommend visiting the many temples and waterfalls which all add to the Bali experience.

Wedding Blessing
We had a wedding blessing whilst at the hotel arranged by Gita. She was so helpful in organising everything and we could not have wished for a better day or person to help us arrange everything. Before we arrived to Bali we had regular contact with Gita so by the time we got to Ubud everything was planned. Gita went out of her way to ensure everything was perfect and she achieved just this. A candlelit meal in on our villa, a citrus bath with petals, incredible flowers and stunning wedding blessing setting all made it the perfect day and one we will never forget.

Summary
This is the best hotel experience we have ever had. If you are staying in Ubud I would highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

An anecdote that sums up the hotel - I left my sunglasses in the reception area by accident when we left the hotel to get into our transfer. After leaving a member of the reception team noticed and jumped on a moped to chase us down and return them to me down a busy Ubud road.

The way the Royal Kamuela invests time and care into their guests is something truly special and fully demonstrated the true meaning of a luxury 5 star hotel.

We spent 4 nights in a pool access suite in December. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. We loved the turn down service offered every evening and a good supply of drinking water is left in recyclable bottles. Super comfortable bed and good air con which is essential in December in Bali. There was tea and coffee making in our suite but no milk or creamer which was unusual. I’m sure had we asked it would have been provided.
The pool is large and clean and we swam every day as it was so refreshing.
The restaurant is lovely and the staff very welcoming with lots of smiles. I love an Indonesian breakfast and the food was delicious. There is also afternoon tea provided every day which we had twice. It was lovely with exceptional service. We attended the Friday evening canapés and cocktails and met more lovely staff including a nice chat with the hotel Manager.
Our pool access suite was an uphill walk from the hotel lobby and quite far. Anyone with mobility issues would struggle. They do have a golf cart that we got a lift in once to our room but most times there was no one to drive us.
There is a free shuttle in Ubud that is an excellent service when you work out how it works. We had heard of it and asked the lobby staff on our first morning and they said they didn’t know about it. We thought it a bit odd that they didn’t offer to find out for us.
Overall, a lovely hotel and we will hopefully stay again.

First time staying at Royal Kamuela Ubud, and a pleasant experience. The room feels very spacious and the room design is also fun with a split level model between the foyer and the bedroom. The mattress feels comfortable with a size that is large enough to be the size of a super king. Equipped with a lot of pillows, but the pillow feels very thick so it is a little uncomfortable when you wake up and feel tense in your neck. The bathroom is also very spacious with a very large bathtub and can fit 2 adults, and is equipped with a separate shower with a fairly large size too. Cleanliness in all surroundings of the hotel and rooms is excellent. Due to the pandemic period, breakfast was delivered to the room with several choices, the taste was quite good but not extraordinary. But the best thing is that the service and friendliness of all the staff is very good. Hopefully this can be maintained in the future. But there was a little complaint from me, I left the room for outside activities around 10 am, and I had put the "make up room" tag on the outside door handle, but when I returned around 4 pm, the room was still in the same state and had not been cleaned and the place eat breakfast also hasn't been cleaned. Even though when we complained, the room was immediately cleaned, but it just felt a little annoying for us. In addition, due to the pandemic period so that visitors to the Monkey Forest have decreased drastically, many monkeys have spread to nearby hotels, including to Royal Kamuela, a little creepy because these monkeys can come to the balcony of the room to find food, and the monkey's size is sufficient. big. But it is not the fault of the hotel, the hotel staff is diligent about driving around the monkeys.

We stayed at the Royal Kamuela for my mom's birthday celebration. The friendly staff greeted us warmly, instantly making us feel at home. The beautiful walk to our rooms was surrounded by lush tropical greenery, and when we got to the rooms, wow, they were decorated with such elegance, super cozy and the bathrooms were so spacious with two sinks and even a bath spa. The swimming pool accessible straight from our back porch was well kept and such a treat to cool off after a day of sight seeing around Ubud. The shampoo's and soaps they offered had such a delightful selection of fragrances: herbs, mint, peony are just a few. The breakfast delivered to our rooms was plenty and tasty, with a wide selection we choose one day in advance. Overall, the friendly staff, the beautiful surroundings, the strategic location, the cleanliness and the food, create a beautiful oasis in Ubud. The perfect way to celebrate my mom's birthday.

This place is just amazing. I would highly recommended people to opt for a private villa. The staff is just amazing and caring. Service of this place was the highlight of my stay here. The place has a nice cozy and comfort feeling. Kids are not allowed at this location which works great for couples or people who love to relax. The in house restaurant is also dam good and most importantly the location of the stay is just amazing. Restaurants, pubs, Money exchange, Super marts are all walking distance from this place.

The villas are beautiful, spacious and very well equipped with everything you need. The bed is very comfortable with a choice of pillows. The bathroom has his and hers sinks, a large walk in shower and a huge bathtub. A door leads to an outdoor shower by the pool and access from the pool to the bathroom is also here.
There is a sitting and dining area outside by the pool, with a kitchen that has a microwave and a fridge. The pool is long and complemented by two sun loungers.
The service is impeccable even though most of the hotel was still closed and the only room service was breakfast. The staff were anticipating early May for the whole resort to open again.
The only downside to the hotel are the monkeys that come to your villa, and if you're not careful, into your room. You are advised not to eat outside or to leave your door open.
If the monkey situation can be changed, then I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful resort, great location good size rooms very clean amazing staff extremely helpful and friendly and go out of their way
I was on a LE package that included à la cart breakfast which was okay lunch/dinner selection which included two choices that would not feed a five-year-old then there was afternoon tea which was an absolute joke fritter the size of a marble and a small piece of cake Served with either tea or coffee milk was not included. There were also one hour free flowing cocktails, but again restrictions I was entitled to one bottle of beer to forego the cocktails which was okay but my wife was not entitled to a small bottle of water and was given warm tapwater as she does not drink alcohol was an absolute waste of time going to either of these I have bought at least 30 if not more LE packages and this would have to be the worst. I expected so much more from them. The hotel was probably 10% capacity at best, it was like staying in a cemetary. we travel to Bali on the regular basis. I will stay in Ubud again but at a different property look for a better deal on LE

Dear valued guests, We truly appreciate you taking the time to share this thoughtful review, and I am delighted to read that you enjoyed the hotel tranquility, perfect location, and warm hospitality service from the entire team. Thank you very much for your constructive feedback, which provides us with treasured insight into improvement as you highlighted the LE package. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to your expectations, so please kindly accept our sincere apology. The LE package has already been agreed and mentioned clearly on the contract agreement with details package, which is in line with the package to which you are entitled. Since we launched our promotion in October 2023, we have not received any issues from our valued guests. We are terribly sorry that we missed the restaurant team details and are deeply disappointed that you encountered the missed communication on your requests with regards to the bottle water. The team has already been briefed on your comments on continuous improvement. Once again, thank you very much for your valued accommodation. If there’s a possibility of you returning to Ubud, it would be our greatest ambition to regain your confidence, and I encourage you to contact me directly so I may personally assist you. Warm regards, Made Citrayasa Front Office Manager

We stayed here for three nights during our trip to Bali. The resort is located just off the main road, however it is as though you are a million miles from the hustle and bustle of Ubud.

All off the staff are a true credit to the hotel and everyone played a part in making our stay magical. From their friendliness to their attention to detail, no one could have done anything more.

The rooms are huge, with large bath tubs, a huge bed and a living area. all of the rooms are located close to the large pool and their are plenty of sun loungers for relaxation. Breakfast is a la carte and the selection of food is great, enough to suit all palettes. In addition afternoon is also included offering a selection to tea and coffee as well savoury and sweet dishes.

I could not recommend this resort enough and this one of the best places that I have stayed in around the world.

Cannot day enough good things about this resort! Started our trip at a different location in Ubud that did not work out. We were able to book the one bedroom pool villa for a same day arrival. From the moment we arrived, everyone was very kind, friendly, and accommodating! We were given a tour of the resort and hopped right into our pool once back at the room. Then we met our ‘neighbors’ ... the monkeys from the nearby Monkey Forest. They were friendly too, but beware ... they will make every attempt to take food out of the minibar, which is located just outside on the patio. The staff did a great job of shoo-ing them away ... we didn’t see very much of them the last day and a half.
The food was so good! We highly recommend taking advantage of the afternoon tea service. We were the only ones there most of the time, which is surprising because it was such a treat!
Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant was great as well. Another must are the ricotta pancakes!
Every time we saw an employee of the resort, they would always greet us with a hearty ‘hello’, which is a treat and not something you see at other hotels/resorts.
Lastly, the location was perfect for Ubud. Lots of neat things to see within walking distance!

Overall, this is a must stay location for anyone going to Ubud!

I did not have a single complaint at Royal Kamuela Villas and Suites. The staff was amazing, the food was great, and the private pool in the villa was perfect. I could not have asked for anything better! We loved that they left little fruits and dishes for us while we were out of the room!

Hi Nicola All rooms have a refrigerator that is approx 80 cms x40 cms. It has an ice box and shelving. We normally have 2x 1 litre water bottles plus a generous amount of bear bottle to chill and there is still room. My wife and I are currently staying at the RK in a villa with another 9 days to go🤩

I think Royal Kamuela is better than other hotels I had stayed before in Ubud, but I’m not sure it’s the best for you. At this hotel, we have to go down stairs to get the room, too. But steps are not too many. And then, there is a gradual slope. Hotel staff takes you to your room by a cart vehicle. There are some steps in a room, at the reception desk, and at the restaurant. How about asking their support? They were very kind!
