It is with great pleasure that I share this review on my recent visit to Indonesia, Bali Villa Ubud in Ubud. Well normally I would keep these amazing little places private so not everyone goes there, BUT I feel myself having to descride what an amazing place this hotel is hidden in the Jungle like a paradise lost in time. In short the Spanish style villas are simple breathtaking , very large rooms extremely comfortable beds, refreshing and elegant baths, cleanliness fit for a King or Queen, Juliet balconies, views to die for, staff who can only be described as PERFECT in every way and food that should be nominated on celebrity chef channels. The area of Ubud is THE only place to stay in Bali , clean air, traditional cultures, artwork, jungle , waterfalls, and rice fields...what more could you want in a place designed by a GOD.!!! Go there and enjoy...but leave it how you found it.

With traffic it does take about 2 hrs to get from the airport to this hotel. And paying the hotel price for the shuttle pick up is worth it (compared with prices found at airport, plus our driver got lost). The hotel is not in the busy Ubud center, but provides a regular free shuttle which drops off and picks up from town. The adjoining bedrooms suite we got was spacious and allowed the kids to have their own king size bed and large bathroom. There are no bathtubs if you require that feature. There was a mini fridge in each room. From our rooms we could hear the birds, the distant roosters, the gentle flow of water in the swimming pool. Note: pool has no shallow side for small kids. It was easy to arrange a soothing pool side massage. The garden was gorgeous and our kids especially loved the few cats who seem to call the property their home. The kittens would come snuggle up on my son's lap sometimes at breakfast. Breakfast options are very good and you order the night before by selecting from a long checklist. Really you may be surprised by the 'courses' served at breakfast and you will be well nourished for exploring Ubud and surrounding areas. We also ate dinner twice at the hotel. While the menu is not extensive all four of us picky eaters were happy. And we were pleasantly surprised by the home made kombucha on offer. The hotel offers some easy tour packages but will also customize a tour for you and find just the right itinerary that suits you, with your own English speaking driver and guide. It couldn't be easier. I think this is the only place I've ever heard the kids, while checking out, ask when we can return to ASAP.

I had a wonderful experience during my 3-day stay in early February. The staff gave me a great room right next to the pool. I barely noticed any of the other guests - it felt very private the whole time. Breakfast was good, the staff was nice, the airport transfer was seamless, and everything was really clean. The have an outdoor yoga pavilion - I think they could make it more useful by having regularly scheduled yoga classes or something like that.

We arrived very late at night after a delayed flight and were made to feel very much welcome. And that pretty much sums things up. The staff here are really nice but I'd afraid that the rooms ... well actually the bathrooms are a real problem. Let's just say that if the toilet flushes properly then consider yourself lucky. We moved rooms after the first night but had the same problems in the next room. And putting aside the 'toilet issues' the bathrooms are poorly designed and mouldy. Not because the are dirty but they've used inappropriate building materials and the work is poorly executed.
This was a real shame because the place is very nice - good location, nice grounds & pool and a nicely positioned restaurant (although the food was just OK).
We won't return or recommend it ... which is a pity ... because we'd like to have been able to.

Dear The_Hills Thanks for your compliments on the team and to feel very much welcomed. We also know that those things sum up. It seems that the reason for your poor mark was the moldy and bad materials used on the construction. Let me clarify a bit. We used in the construction not bad materials but natural volcanic stones in order to give local people a nice possibility to make a living during a few months. Those stones are really nice when dry but I am afraid they retain water and moisture too long and finally create difficulty to clean it up. We want to let you know that we have changed these materials of the bathrooms and truly the improvement has been very evident. They are now clearer and at the same time they are more welcoming. We have preserved the wood because it gives them a touch of elegance We look forward to welcoming you back again soon Manager

This is a review I hate to write because there are so many great things to say about the Bali Villa Ubud. The grounds are quite picturesque. The room was spacious. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. The food is exceptional. I want to give my experience a 5, but there is one factor that overshadowed our entire stay and forces me to give the hotel a 3 - a pack of rosters living next door.
Each morning, the birds started crowing around 3:30 and continued non-stop until about 7:30 at night. We counted at least three because we became intimately acquainted with their annoying calls.
My girlfriend and I are not light sleepers, but there is no way we could remain asleep once the roosters began their daily routine. Finally, we found ourselves going to bed around 7:30, so at least, we could get a few hours sleep.
The owners are quite sympathetic. They've talked to local officials about the problem, as well as trying to buy the roosters but to no avail.
If it weren't for the roosters, I'd give the hotel a 5, but I have to be honest and give other travelers the information so that they can decide if they are comfortable vacationing next to such a nuisance.
Had I known about the roosters ahead of time I wouldn't have stayed at the Bali Villa Ubud.
I fear that the hotel's days are numbered unless the situation can be addressed.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for your review. We must say that we are in a very close step to close a deal to make disappear chickens of the neighbor. We have his promise that this Christmas there will be no left those roasters that so much bothered you. For a proper clarification for our travelers, let me tell you that we offered by twice an easy and infallible solution: change the room. We offered you twice a solution easy and foolproof: change the room and in the two occasions you told us that you were fine in room Uluwatu. Given this emphatic response, the less we could expect are those kinds of comments We assume that the agreement with the owner of the roasters will make that the days of our Hotel are not counted. Don't you think you go too far by two chickens in a Hotel situated in a rural environment? Our location, despite being close to Ubud, falls in an area which is distinguished by the rural environment and this is what most of our customers love. Please have a look to this link. It belongs to people who stay the same days that you were with us, and of course they referred to the roasters but in a very completely different way. Also they gave us a 5 http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g297701-d1929579-r235966197-Bali_Villa_Ubud-Ubud_Bali.html Lastly, my appreciation for your kind comment regarding the friendly staff, also the food, and the spacious rooms. We hope that you could give us another chance to welcome you back in the future. Best regards Management

We spent five days in Bali Villa Ubub. We read many good reviews and we have to say that none of them disappointed us. From the first moment at the airport, we received a very warm welcome and later on when we arrived at the villa we confirmed that first impression. The villa is situated at only 5 kilometers of UBud in the small village of Dapdapan. It is a local community where there is a nice small market where the local artisans come to sell their products. The breakfast is wonderful with many choices. Some toasts with garlic and olive oil made the perfect compliment. The swimming pool is situated opposite to a big barrier of trees. What about the rooms? Most of them are decorated with fine furniture and wooden floors. Gorgeous! We will come back next year to Indonesia and it is clear that we will come back to Bali Villa Ubud. A very nice staff is waiting for us! Maria

I went on a 'Yoga Retreat' package for 4 nights. I expected therefor to be a 'Retreat', a peaceful and quiet oasis where I could practise yoga, have massages and write! Unfortunately, that is not what I got! There is a timber yard across the road (and it may have been bad timing just while I was there,) but I could hear the background noise of 'sawing' timber off and on throughout the day. A great shame because the hotel itself is a lovely place with wonderful staff, great pool, clean room and delicious food! But sadly for me, the noise ruined the peace I was hoping to get.The Director did not like my feedback and said quote 'our customers have never complained because there is simply no noise.' A very poor response to genuine feedback

Hi Kazzahoney, thank you for your feedback. First of all, I don't understand how i could have responded to you, since I was absent for a week, and that's already telling you all about the truth of your review. Secondly, apart from you, there were obviously other customers who didn't complain at all about the noise. So where's the truth? I have been told that the room you were given was not right for you. You chose another one, we prepared it and when it was ready you wanted another one... I don't want to go on because it's not my style... I wish you the best of luck on your healing journey.

I came here for a retreat and the grounds and my room was amazing! I had one of the biggest rooms and it was truly a treat. The beds were soft and they came in and had turn down service every night. The pool was great, and there are some rice fields behind the villa, which are beautiful to look at. Every morning you’ll see the local workers tending to the fields. The villa is removed from the center. It does have restaurant on site, offering some standard menu options as well as daily specials and fresh juices. My main downside about this place is that for it being a much more upscale place (with the price tag to go with it) they should invest in better towels. The towels from the moment I arrived smelled humid and were very hard. Others in our group commented the same. It’s such a small thing but it’s a noticeable enough thing that makes a difference. Everyone in our group noticed without us talking to one another. That’s the one feedback I’d like to give to the hotel. Also, for group menus it would be great to offer typical Balinese dishes more often. The set group lunch options weren’t that great, we would have preferred options off their standard menu which we enjoyed more. Aside from this, my time there at this retreat was truly magical!

Thank you for taking your time to share your feedback of your Hotel Villa Ubud experience. We're glad your experience was positive. As for towels, it's not about investing or not. The quality of our towels is very good, you only need to talk about them and we would have changed them immediately. Regarding the meals, I can first say that the whole group enjoyed our meals because at the end of the meal the dishes were empty ...:) For the groups we are forced to confront ourselves with the budget that is made available to us by the group leader. The lower the budget, the more attention we have to pay to the cost of food. With meals it is never easy to please everyone, but as I said it seemed to me that everyone had appreciated, quantity and quality. Regards
