We spent 3 nights in Villa Melati with private pool during our stay in Ubud. The location is excellent, close enough to the center of Ubud but far enough away not to suffer the noise nuisance. This was my first time at Kuwarasan after hearing glowing comments from a couple of friends who travel to Bali frequently. And it will not be my last. The location itself, right in the middle of rice fields with breathtaking views, is worth returning for.
We had Pande as our driver for a late night airport pickup (with a frustratingly long delay) and arrived at the resort at an ungodly hour in the morning. The 24-hour reception staff got us quickly checked in and thoughtfully had a snack waiting for us.
Pande was also for our guide for the Tirtha Empul temple. He was courteous and very well-versed about the temple, filling us in on just about every little detail.
And the lovely Tria at the spa took excellent care of me. A very attentive and skillful therapist, she was very responsive to my needs and every knot or stiffness in my back. She was also very mindful of my time issues on the last morning before catching my flight back to the UK, and adjusted the treatment accordingly.
And of course, the fabulous food! As an Indonesian passionate about my culture’s cuisine, my expectations were admittedly sky high, and Kuwarasan more than delivered.
Prior to my stay, I saw some reviews mentioning dampness and humidity. But as someone who has stayed at various ‘nature’ hotels (jungle, forest, beach, etc) these are part and parcel of the experience, especially in a tropical climate. I generally struggle with humidity-triggered allergies and breathing issues, but the ACs in our rooms were strong enough to compensate for the moisture. It certainly did not bother me or my British and American friends one bit. In fact, the rooms felt dry and pleasant, and my allergies never kicked up.
In closing, my stay at Kuwarasan was just sublime. The place had a way of being open and accessible, yet also personal and intimate. Whatever is asked of them, they accommodate without missing a step with their timely service and hospitality. I’m so glad I listened to my friends and gave this place a try!

My husband and I are so happy with our honeymoon experience at Kuwarasan! Everything was perfect and exactly as expected. Our honeymoon package included one floating breakfast and daily breakfast for 2 people, which was amazing and we enjoyed it so much. They have a variety of options ranging from an Indonesian breakfast, American, and Indian breakfast.
The massage for 2 people (1 hour each) was also included and we loved every minute of our massage with Ari and Widya. It was so good that I booked another one for 2 hours. It was the warm shirodhara massage that includes one hour of a full body massage and a warm oil massage for your head and scalp. It was the most amazing massage I have ever received and Ari is very gentle and relaxing! I left feeling so pampered and fabulous.
Our 1-bedroom villa with private pool was wonderful and very spacious. It had everything you could ask for and it was decorated with the honeymoon set up in the bed and the floral bath upon arrival. I loved the dual sinks and expansive floor plan. All the drinks and snacks in the minibar was complimentary, which was a very nice additional touch.
Our honeymoon package also included the romantic dinner, which was so elegant and delicious! I couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience and I really appreciate Arta for setting everything up and the rest of the amazing staff for bringing the best experience come to life.
The restaurant at Kuwarasan was wonderful as well, and the food and drink menu was expansive. It ranged from local food to Italian and sushi dishes, and I had the fortune to experience a variety of dishes. The sunset bar was very impressive and the live music was fantastic.
Finally, I have to give a shout out to all of the staff at Kuwarasan not mentioned so far because everybody went above and beyond to give us the best honeymoon excursion ever. From the beginning to the end with Pande driving us back to the airport, every detail was immaculate and I would highly recommend anyone who wants a first class experience to check out Kuwarasan. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful retreat center. We were 21 participants and the spaces were perfect. An indoor classroom and the magnificent yoga chalet. Weather was a key character in our experience and the staff had all that was needed to enjoy the winds and rain. Beautiful grounds, attentive staff, magnificent food. I came with a lot of food concerns and after over a week have had no ill effects even from the fresh cut fruit. The bottled water is replenished continuously. The staff graciously distributed the daily gifts by room also with wonderful attention to detail. Highly recommend.

A gorgeous welcoming atmosphere from the start. The second you step in you are greeted with a large, clean, tastefully decorated lobby. The staff are all waiting to welcome you, saying welcome to your home. We were offered a beautiful lemon and mint refreshing drink. From that moment you feel that you are home from home.
Anything you need is fulfilled with minimum fuss. Checkin is seamless and fast. The sounds and smells are exactly how I imagined and made me relax with no effort at all.
The rooms are so gorgeous and spacious, with a stunning balcony, mine overlooked the pool directly. All needs are met in the room, including slippers, tea and coffee, hairdryer, toothpaste and brush, etc. the laundry service is very fast and very reasonable indeed.
The hotel certainly meets most 5 star criteria, and is immaculately clean. The guest toilets in the lobby/restaurant, are immaculate (I’m fussy). The staff do everything they can to make sure you have maximum comfort without being intrusive to your space (a special talent).
The yoga at 7 am is amazing and is complementary. The spa services, for me, are amongst the best I have tried, at much more reasonable prices than Europe or the Middle East. I had a massage for 10 out of the 11 days I stayed. The most I paid for a massage was about £45 (British pounds).
I was on a friends’ trip and we the hotel car service regularly. A whole day was around £50, which when divided between 3 people was such a good choice.
The pool was cleaned every morning and was very inviting.
Although the food in Bali wasn’t memorable, having said that the restaurant at Kuwarasan definitely surpassed all other restaurants we went to. Meticulously clean, stunning presentation, very very clean, breakfast was included and could be tailored to taste.
The hotel shop could have better quality products and a bigger variety. I certainly would have bought some stuff if it had.

My partner and I decided to stay at Kuwarasan exclusively for the paddy view room. Upon our arrival we were assigned a lower category room, overlooking the pool. Made careful about the type of room booked (and paid for) we were first offered a room with yard view, then another, beautiful and of a higher category, but still different from the one for which we had decided to stay there (paddy view). We promptly reported the case to Booking.com, which made every effort to assign us the room category due or at least grant a partial refund. Nulla di tutto ciò! The hotel is beautiful. The service of its employees is excellent, always attentive and very warm. The views from the pool and the room, to the rice paddies is very beautiful. I just hope the construction they're building across the street doesn't ruin it. In the restaurant you eat very well at a very good price and in the evenings several days of the week there is live music or a Balinese dinner with show that is really very beautiful. We were recommended this hotel by a friend and she was so right! Most amazing hotel, service was wonderful, a peaceful haven outside of Ubud which is very busy in the center. We did the cooking class with chef Kadek which was fantastic. Would highly recommend as he is so knowledgeable and a great teacher. Food is amazing and can’t wait to make the recipes back home. Room was luxurious, we loved the huge bath. I fell in love with the smell of the frangipane flowers that were scattered everywhere. Every tiny detail was thought of, from the fresh local fruit in the rooms to the beautiful smelling hand soap and shower gel. The people were so kind and attentive to every need but without being intrusive. Honestly 100% recommend. Only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!

This hotel 15 minutes from Ubud (free shuttle several times a day) has a dream location in the middle of the rice fields. Everything is beautiful wherever you look. But it was the staff who impressed us the most. Everyone takes great care of the customers, the information flows very smoothly, everything is perfectly organized and timed, always with big smiles and a word for a joke….thank you to the whole team for your welcome and your professionalism! The rooms are large and beautiful, the view incredible, the food very good. A perfect place to rest after visiting the city and discover the exterior of Ubud.
