We were lucky to get the all 3 bedroom villa 1 and villa 2 during pandemic covid-19 Christmas time and no other guests beside our fam & friends of 10 adults and 2 children. The two villas has different styles & furnishings, if you like more of the medieval villa, take the villa 1, but if you like to have privacy with family & 3 ensuite bathrooms with own bathtub n a family dining area, take villa 2.
It was a perfect getaway for family & friends (esp. Those who wanted some alone time with each other, during pandemic situation). Its exclusive and secluded location, surrounded by trees and other vegetation, and the serenity of the quiet neighborhood, created a sanctuary of peace and tranquility ideal for relaxing and connecting with oneself and nature. For the rate which Booking.com had helped me secure, I was pleasantly surprised by the exquisiteness and good maintenance of the room furnishings and facilities.
Arthur & Mrs. Budi with their friendly sons kept us entertained, as you have seen all photos n other reviews, the castle like mansion has very unique arts n architecture (Arthur designed n worked with our local carpenters).
Overall, this was a great resort facility n friendly owners who can cater to our needs very well. When their 3-tier pool is done by the river, it would be more breath taking views for health spiritual minded people also. Be adventurous n have fun!

The Avalon is a work in progress. It is not quite finished and you have a feeling that you are always walking thru the owners personal space and disturbing their kids. In addition, if the other side of the house is rented, you and the other guests share the same pool and green space making it less than ideal for relaxing. The massages by the river are nice but for everything else, would recommend some place closer to Ubud and some place where you are not on top of the people staying next door to you.

A couple run this hotel so It's a cosy place, clean beds and wonderful staff around with good food! Good for pictures but I feel little inconvenience walking to and from the room as the property is on a slop next to river. So there is lots of climbing and going downhill.
Algea and tad poles were there in open spa area so I didn't try it out. Value for money I would give 8/10 as other places around were expensive in December.

We booked for our honeymoon and where so disappointed with staying here, me and my husband are not ones to complain, we have been in Bali for 3 weeks and loved every place until we got to Avalon castle, our room didn’t make sense at all, there where no sockets on the wall, making it very hard to charge out electronics, the curtains provided no privacy at all and let all the light in, there was a carved open window to the outside with no way of shutting it, allowing bugs and hot air into the room, many tiles in the bathroom are all falling off, we asked if we could change room and he said we could but we’d have to pay an extra £10 a night, we then asked to receive a refund so we could just leave and he said no, he also talked to my husband in a very patronising way… thankfully he called out he’s wife and she seems to know what she’s doing and she offered us a different room free of charge.
Unfortunately that room was just as bad, aircon hardly cooled the room and there wasn’t any hot water for the first couple hours. The “castle” ( which isn’t even a castle) is still in construction and wasn’t very nice staying by the pool. The whole vibe of that place was very off and we felt so much better and calmer after we left

Stayed for 2 and wish we never did. First night, smeld a mould on the bed but not in the room and could not understand. Was so tired for a long yourney just went to bed. My niece slept with me that night. We had 2 rooms booked.
The next night, the same thing. Our bedding was not even changed after I asked it to be change. When we went to bed I still smelled that smell. I took of the bedding and pillow cases and to my horror I saw black mould on the mattress on the pillows. It was disgusting. The mattress protector has never been washed. Just turned around still with blood on it. There was no kettle. No bins. If you staying at the top floor by the main swimming pool you hear everything from downstairs bedrooms. The breakfast was not good. The Man owner is rude. His staff should run the place and not the wife and man. They are running this place to the ground. Don't stay here. Promise my money back. And never refunded it.

We stayed in Avalon for three days and this place had everything we needed. The location was a bit secluded. So you need to walk to get to the restaurants. But the room service was nice and the staff respond to WhatsApp messages when needed. The hotel has several pools and we enjoyed small jacuzzi, our kids liked it

We had a beautiful time here. It's a truly magical place with such high attention to detail. We already expected a beautiful layout from the pictures, but the true uniqueness of the place itself is something you will have to see for yourself. Hidden pathways, a relaxing hot tub, and pool access directly from a stairway that leads into the water from your private bathroom..and the wide array of books and artifacts. Arthur and his family have truly built a place straight out of a novel. Arthur gave us a fencing lesson and showed us some more hidden pathways in the library on our last day. We will definitely come back :)

One of the most surreal and weird places I've ever been in my life and I don't mean in a pleasant way. We arrived in a very very hot day and we met the girl of the reception and, I guess, the owner. While the girl was superfriendly and showed us around, we haven't heard a single word by the owner, not even a simple "hello". The place looks all but not like in the pictures, the feeling is that it was born as an incredible place, but now the owners are a bit bored of this business. We were in on of 2 rooms whose door is accessible from the lobby, and the room was big and full of light, but this is not necessarily a good point as the curtain were not enough to darken the inside and to not let anyone to look inside. The bathroom was separated by the looby with basically a really thin wooden wall which seems that could fall down from a moment to another.
Overall quite a disappointing experience, despite the garden is totally awesome.

I ve been here for my honeymoon and this was the best experience i ve had in my life. Everything was incredible i felt like a princess. The food is so good i m a vegetarian so i found dishes for me also and the place is full of art. A castle in every way like you see only in movies. It s a place you need to try. If you re into pictures and great spots to take pictures this is the place!
The owners are amazing and kind.
