The Purist Villas and Spa is celebrated for its peaceful ambiance and artistic flair, with guests often remarking on the hotel’s tranquil amenities, including a variety of villas with private pools, and its exceptional culinary offerings and spa treatments. Travelers appreciate the great value provided through affordable dining and shuttle services, though some find the massages to be on the higher end of the price spectrum. Service at the hotel is frequently highlighted as exemplary, with staff delivering attentive and personalized care.

Detailed Reviews
We always enjoy staying at properties with the Relais and Chateaux designation, so we were excited to find this hotel in Ubud while planning our stay in Bali. From the beginning, communication was quick and professional. The staff answered all of our questions and made great suggestions in regards to our trip. Unfortunately, our stay was scheduled during the global pandemic. The folks at the Purist Villas and Spa took the initiative and reached out to us regarding changing our dates to a future stay. Once they learned that it was doubtful that we would be in that part of the world in the foreseeable future, they immediately offered a full refund. The transaction was processed quickly and was credited within just a few days back to our American Express account. We highly endorse the professionalism of the Purist Villas and Spa!

Was fortunate enough to spend 3 fantastic nights here about a week ago booking a River Villa.
Check in was quick as we were shown to our villa down along many steps and pathways.
We had Ricer Villa 3 which is the furthest away but overlooks the second pool which made it feel like it was our personal pool…I only saw 2 other people in it in 3 days.
Out villa had its own separate dining area and day beds overlooking the pool then steps down to another sitting area and table leading into our bedroom featuring a very comfortable bed , another lounge , tv and beautiful bathroom with 2 showers a bathtub overlooking the adjoining forest and a pond with 10 goldfish…in the bathroom !
The bedroom had icy cool aircon and fan too.
Breakfast was a la carte in the restaurant every morning overlooking the main pool , we also took advantage of afternoon tea which is served here from 3 - 5pm every day.
We visited local restaurants within walking distance each nite and took advantage of the free shuttle service to Ubud each day.
We found the staff to be so friendly as well that actually got up to greet you every time you returned each day , Devi in the restaurant was a star and Wayan took us on a tour of vacant villas too which was a highlight.
The Purist is a fantastic property , one of the best I’ve ever stayed at in 30 trips to Bali , backed by fantastic facilities and staff !

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
My family of six recently stayed in a two bedroom residence with a private pool. The residence was spacious and comfortable, and the art and design of the place is beautiful. Service is also good, and breakfast was more than adequate. The villa is not within walking distance of downtown but there are (infrequent) shuttles and the hotel also readily orders you a taxi upon request.
However there were two things that made our stay less enjoyable: the air-conditioning and the wifi. The air-conditioning was very poor in both bedrooms, which led us to be sticky and sweaty the entire time which was very uncomfortable in the hot and extremely humid Ubud climate. The living room was open-air and it was swelteringly hot even in the evenings. The second issue which is slightly less important is the poor Wifi. We were trying to book flights and it was impossible due to the slow connection.

My best friend and I met up at The Purist for the most amazing week of pampering, relaxing and sightseeing but what we didn’t expect was how wonderful the staff there would be. Every single staff member was exceptional from the boys at reception to the staff at the beautiful Cafe Balisimo (special shout out to Depi & Choki 😘), the girls at the spa and all the wonderful, friendly, smiling staff in between who worked tirelessly to keep the resort looking so beautiful. We were made to feel very welcome immediately and then like friends and by the end of our stay like family!
We stayed in the 2 bedroom Timor Residence where we enjoyed our own private pool. It was so spacious and beautifully decorated, our one regret is that we only stayed a week. We would come back from breakfast to beautifully made beds and back in the evening to turn down service with chocolates and a lovely goodnight message. We also enjoyed a beautiful floating breakfast after yoga and before a massage. So spoilt.
The restaurant provided beautiful breakfasts and afternoon tea included in the price and lunch and dinner were very reasonable with the menu offering both Indonesian and western food options. Our last evening was made special with Traditional Dances occurring during dinner service. They were fabulous to see and performed beautifully.
Thank you for making our week away so amazing, we will never forget it ❤️

We stayed in Jungle Pool room villa during our trip to Ubud and were so incredibly happy. It had two twin beds and a day bed for lounging. We were most impressed with their extraordinary service. The spa visits were exceptional and the room and dining area were a nice retreat after long days exploring. The menu is varied and the staff was willing to accommodate in any way possible (even making breakfast items during dinner) Any question or request we had was answered very quickly. Beds were very comfortable and the A/C worked amazingly well! Highlight of our room was being awakened each morning by our chirping gecko. The location is not really walkable to the town and shopping because there are no sidewalks, but the fare is incredibly cheap to hire a driver and they are always available. Absolutely recommend this place!

Just utterly peaceful and charming place to stay. We came on a Luxury Escapes package and very happy with the whole experience. It is close to town but after a couple of trips there we ran home to our Villa happy just to enjoy the peace and quiet.
The meals are very good and well priced. As vegetarian folk we were a little concerned the choice would be limited. Pleased to report the vegetarian menu is varied and very tasty, I have picked up some good ideas to cook at home so happy days.
The staff are wonderful, so helpful and kindly. We are in a senior stage of life and it is wonderful to have the care and concern the team have shown us. Just little things that make all the difference such as polite suggestions to take care on slippery steps. Not that they are but the care is there and appreciated.
The spa massage was heavenly to experience, lots of careful attention paid.
The cleaners must watch you pop out and in they go keeping the room immaculate and swapping out towels the minute you use them. Heaven for those of us who do all those duties at home.
In short for a lovely peaceful respite from the hustle of real life we highly recommend The Purist in every way.

We had a lovely stay for five nights at this boutique hotel.
Choki and Daffey at the restaurant were amazing.
Agus, Wayan and Aris at the front desk were kind and receptive.
The spa team members skilled.
I do not remember all names but as a team they multitask and help each other which is a great sign of team spirit.
Pros -
The food preparation is like a work of art. All ingredients are freshly sourced. The chefs are skilled at what they prepare.
The staff are polite including house keeping who worked very hard to clean our villa in detail.
They have a high tea with options for hot / cold tea coffee along with fruits / cakes / snacks. This was a nice touch if you get peckish.
We shared a lot of our food with the team that we had hand carried from our country and the staff were very grateful at the opportunity to try other cuisines. 😀
The villas are comfortable and private.
The F&B and Spa is well priced so it isn’t too heavy on the pocket to eat and enjoy a massage in the hotel. Of course, the market place has more options and is cheaper.
Areas needing improvement-
There is a lot of bread items in the breakfast menu.
Multiple hot vegetarian options would be nice to have . When staying for 5 nights, it can get boring eating the same items.
House keeping took 4 days to to fix our shower and water drainage problem in the shower.
Lot of broken tiles on the steps etc which needs to be fixed. Perhaps since Bali is now opening up, they will slowly fix the things that are broken.
Overall, I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this place because of the hospitality and private feeling since it has limited rooms.

We stayed for 6 days at the Purist and had an amazing time. The villa was large and spacious and very beautifully appointed. The food was fresh, delicious and well priced but what really made the stay was the staff who were warm, helpful, kind and friendly. We felt so welcomed the moment we stepped in the door. The location is about a 25 minute walk into Ubud but the hotel provides a shuttle service into town for free which was helpful. We also enjoyed a massage at the spa which was wonderful.
Would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a relaxing and refreshing holiday. For couples it is a very romantic place to stay!

The villas we stayed at, 3 different ones, none had a microwave or kitchenette.
Drop the team a message, they are really helpful. Their contact details are on their website. I don't want to give you the wrong info myself.
Thank you for your question. We are delighted to read you will be staying with us for your silver anniversary - did you mention that to our reservations team when making your booking? If "not yet" please let us know, it's difficult to identify you here to add this information to your reservation. Our Jungle Pool villas are an excellent choice. They are all equally as sheltered and private. We are proud of the tranquility of our resort without traffic noise and those of the big city. We do however get some, "Bali sounds" which are tropical and rural in nature... and most of our guests enjoy these as part of their Ubud experience. We look forward to welcoming you to the Purist villas!
