Just wondering if this facility is still operating. We haven't been for about 4 years and would love to go back , does anyone know how we contact the owners! It was always so friendly, loved the staff, the breakfast & location. And best of all my husband loved the big esky!

We stayed here as a couple mid-March, we flew about 17 hours to get there, and boy was it worth it!! A description of paradise will always vary person to person, but I am pretty sure for most in the western world 'budget' would not be a part of their paradise description?!
This place is budget, no doubt about it, it is *incredible value for money!* I have been reading through some of the negative reviews and I can't help but chuckle, when did people start to think they could pay peanuts and get luxury? Even so, for me this place WAS luxury! Because it was quiet, (at times I couldn't find anyone, a bit of paradise right there methinks!) The breakfasts were lovely and their dogs made us feel welcome every time we returned from a trip.
Were there issues? Sure, we arrived and a day later the heavens opened for a couple of days straight and our roof leaked. Big drama? Nope, we just moved rooms.
Now onto the staff, they were lovely, so nice and warm and friendly, as for Ron himself, what an interesting guy to talk to, friendly, helpful and matter of fact, just how I like people to be!

To be honest, a visit here is like going to stay with family, you accept that it's not perfect, if you wanted perfect you would have paid three times as much and gone to stay in one of the big hotels on the beach! This place is a family home with villas around the pool, it's a place to stay if you are going to Bali to be with the people, I loved it!
We were there over Nyepi, Irma cooked for us and it was amazing!!! I'm not the most sociable of people, but I have to say, between the staff and the guests we met (who were ALL return visitors by the way) I actually enjoyed every conversation I had.

I can not wait to return!

Found this property on Trip Advisor and contacted Ron and Irma direct to confirm availability for 3 weeks. From airport pickup to airport departure, totally enjoyed my stay. Room 6 was ideal; quiet and furthest from the road. Given SBV (or Mangrove) location at the end of Sanur, only the weekends saw any traffic noise. The room was immaculate with a large fridge, aircon, hot water and coffee making facilities and an exceptionally comfortable bed. A gorgeous Bali quilt was added as I felt the night cool. The breakfasts were large with a variety of options and within 2 days, Tammy knows everyone's preferences. The pool was always sparkling and refreshing. I had Ron supply some wine for me; always cold in the 'big esky'. Many of the guests were regular visitors every year. Ron (amazing raconteur and font of knowledge) and his wonderful wife Irma (Bamboo Shoots Cooking School) with staff Daniel and Darwin, cannot do enough for you. Ill with flu in my first days, a Doctor is on call and the staff will bring meals. I could get wifi in the main area overlooking the pool, so didn't really worry that it was not connecting in the room. Restaurants and Warungs are close by in both directions with the beach only a 5 minute walk (even with my knees). For a solo woman this property is definitely recommended.

Our family of 4 spent 10 days here in one of the 2 bedroom villas.
I would strongly recommend booking directly- since we encountered issues using the booking.com site.
The villa is a short walk to the south end beaches, warungs and shops. It is on a quiet street.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The pool was refreshing, but with many uneven tiles one had to be careful. Everyone in our family got cut from the pool tiles as did the other guests who were visiting at the same time as us.

The breakfasts were good: fresh, filling and tasty!

The villa itself was ok. The AC in the bedrooms worked well but the AC in the main room was less effective. It wasn’t working at all when we arrived and they were quick to have someone come repair it. The kitchen wasn’t that well equipped, however I know that had we asked for anything it would have been supplied...we just didn’t need it for our stay.
Although the villa was clean on the surface, it would benefit from some more TLC and deep cleaning: corners, walls and windows and especially the pool tiles were damaged and in need of repair.

My husdand and I have just tried to book this accommodation (2 bed villa) for a last minute trip next week (15th November 2010). We have flights on hold and rang the phone number. Ron told us that he would be no longer than 40 minutes and would get back to us as he knew our situation. After over an hours wait and in fear of losing the flights, I called back. He snapped at me and told me to "Stop hounding him and he didn't want our type of guest at his place. So for you I have no 2 bedroom villa available because of your mismanagement" UNBELIEVABLE!

We feel that we have had a lucky escape in not being able to book with this very rude and aggressive "hotelier". Good luck to everyone else if you unfortunately get on the wrong side of this guy he would no doubt snap at you like he has done to us.

Be warned as we were fooled by all of the positive comments compared to the "few" negatives and were treated awfully from the outset by just attempting to prebook a villa over the phone as they had not responded to our e mail sent hours earlier.
We will take our business elsewhere and recommend everybody looks CLOSELY at what the negative responses have said. We feel relieved by not booking to say the least.

WHile the location is very good - walking distance from shops and the beech, the hotel was poorly maintained and dirty. Our room had several issues with lights not working, and we had to move rooms when the shower stopped working. THere is much better to be had in Bali than this.

We visited this villa. Even though the staff were awesome I don't think I'd ever stay here again. Couldn't take a shower as they had no water pressure. Multiple things wrong with the rooms including toilets that don't flush, aircon that didn't work (they did replace this straight away though), broken beds, mould on the bed head and safes that don't lock.
I did appreciate the cooked breakfast, the big red esky full of beer at all times and the lovely iced coffees. The pool was great too.
Like I said before the staff were great and the Uma was very approachable.

The major irony here is when you left you did not want to pay the 3% fee for the use of your credit card. You then promised to pay when back in Australia. Now 6 days later you still have not paid anything. Yes the AC did not work properly but was fixed as soon as possible. The toilets work very well however you showed that this is your first trip out of Australia and did not know how to flush the toilet. Instead you broke the cistern lid. Obviously this was replaced. You of course did not offer to pay for this. The safe locks quite well, again you simply did not know how to turn the key key from open to closed. It really is not that difficult. There is not a broken bed in the room. If you had a problem while here why did you not simply ask Irma. She would have show you how to flush a toilet and how to turn a key. If you had asked, Irma would even have showed you how to make an iced coffee.

Indeed the villa is well located and the price is fantastic. The place is a bit run-down but managable. I stayed here with my kids for 5 nights.

When we arrived, no one was there to check us in. The owner sat at the table drinking his beer with a friend and did not even say hello. One night I dared request batteries for the AC and was met with a slew of swear words asking ''what the xxx we need an xxx AC on an XXX night like tonight?'' This was with my children listening on. The owner's friend helped with the batteries. The onslaught was bad enough that I asked if there is a problem with us as clients.

Every morning, I chased after the staff for breakfast and ran around looking for them.

I very much appreciated that the final bill was just IDR 4 million. However, the rude owner and the seldom-present staff just really are not worth the money saved.

Extremely disappointed, after reading reviews thought this place would be excellent. The run down villa left a lot to be desired. Air conditioning remote could not be found so it had to be left on icy cold continually, sleeping in pants and yes a jumper!!! Bathroom tap broken, tended to by staff but only fixed 2 days later. Pool was not inviting with scum and oil slicks on top. Breakfast mediocre at best. Beach a 5 min walk however this is the locals beach, full of rubbish, had to walk 10-15 mins for a nice beach to swim at. No restaurants or shops in vicinity, need to get a taxi to go anywhere. I have been to Bali many times and stay in a variety of accomodation from 2-4 star. I would definitely NOT recommend this place, there is much nicer accomodation for the price in Sanur and I will not be back. Addition: my friend that stayed with me wrote the previous review. In the Managers reply he stated, she didn't have enough money to pay. That is a total lie. The truth is that she had relied on the fact that it stated online Sanur Beach Villas had credit card facilities. The night before we left, we found out he had cancelled this facility. It was too late to get money from an atm 5 min taxi ride away, and he said it was "no problem" to pay via bank upon return to Australia the next morning. I am presuming he lied to make her look bad due to the negative review. This kind of attitude just shows what type of person is running this accomodation. STAY AWAY!!!

Thank you for your wonderful comments. I am sure by now that anyone reading your two reviews will have come to the same conclusion about them. We put thousands of people to bed here every year. At night we tuck them into bed and kiss their little teddy bears. A strike rate of thousands being happy against two being negative is something we are quite proud of. The first I knew of a tap being faulty was when other tourists mentioned they were tired of you complaining to them. We fixed it within 30 minutes of being aware of the situation. The couple checking out today used our credit card facilities to pay their bill. Cheers.

We stayed here for 3 nights and I am really glad it wasn't longer. We paid double what we were paying in Ubud previously so had some expectations.
When we arrived we were taken to our villa but didn't really have a formal check in, we were given no info about anything.
The remote was missing for the aircon in one of the bedrooms - so one of the staff climbed on top of the wardrobe (it was very high up) and turned it on as low as possible. We never got the remote so had to sleep in multiple layers of clothing as the room was so cold and we couldn't turn aircon up or off - the beds only had a single sheet, no blankets or doona provided either.
We had a problem with the cold tap in the bathroom which was fixed after 2 days - but the hot tap never had a tap attached to it the whole time we were there.
Breakfast was basic but was ok - had to wait a long time for someone to appear to take our order every morning though.
5 minute walk to the beach - this property is situated at the southern end of Sanur so to get to supermarket and the main shops you need to catch a taxi.
Yes there is an esky full of Bintang next to the pool but as a non beer drinker it wasnt a big attraction for me.
This place has lots of potential but really needs to work on its maintenance . In hindsight we wished we had booked into one of the hotels along the beach.

Firstly I would like to thank you for comparing us to Fawlty Towers. We have worked hard to maintain this type of imagine. This is the reason about 80% of our guests are repeat customers. I loved that you got no formal check in. As for the lack of information on arrival, this has been rectified. My staff have been instructed to mention that the big blue wobbly thing in the centre of the complex is the pool and that the rectangle things with a roof are rooms. There was no way the guy (Jack) climbed onto a wardrobe. However I will be honest, he is not the sharpest tool in the shed due to falling from a horse and having head injuries. We employ him because no one else is willing to do so. Yes, he makes mistakes but he tries his heart out. He will be working for us for as long as we live. The man will bend over backwards to help people. I am proud that at the age of 37 he has recently learnt to count to 12. Nearly all of our tourists understand this and give him a chance. He is loved by many people. I wonder if I should also mention that you did not have enough money to pay your bill and we therefore trusted you to pay us once you had returned to Australia..
