Just wondering if this facility is still operating. We haven't been for about 4 years and would love to go back , does anyone know how we contact the owners! It was always so friendly, loved the staff, the breakfast & location. And best of all my husband loved the big esky!

Our family of 4 spent 10 days here in one of the 2 bedroom villas. I would strongly recommend booking directly- since we encountered issues using the booking.com site. The villa is a short walk to the south end beaches, warungs and shops. It is on a quiet street. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was refreshing, but with many uneven tiles one had to be careful. Everyone in our family got cut from the pool tiles as did the other guests who were visiting at the same time as us. The breakfasts were good: fresh, filling and tasty! The villa itself was ok. The AC in the bedrooms worked well but the AC in the main room was less effective. It wasn’t working at all when we arrived and they were quick to have someone come repair it. The kitchen wasn’t that well equipped, however I know that had we asked for anything it would have been supplied...we just didn’t need it for our stay. Although the villa was clean on the surface, it would benefit from some more TLC and deep cleaning: corners, walls and windows and especially the pool tiles were damaged and in need of repair.

We arrived on the Friday 20th of December and booked for 2 nights with my wife and 2 kids. We didn't expect too much as we new we only wanted budget so our expectations were not high. Booked online through booking.com. When we arrived the 2 bedroom villa we paid for was unfortunately not available. Hang on a minute, my credit card was debited ,our 2 bed room was confirmed and then was blatantly told , no you cant stay in this room as we have reservation for 12 days tomorrow. We had to take 2 separate 1 bed villas which was not what we paid for and certainly not convenient as a family with 2 small children. The rooms and bath were old and tired but again wasn't expecting too much. The one real bad thing which I consider pretty serious is the pool . Health and safety would of shut this place down years ago if they only new the condition of it. I cut my foot 3 times and my son once on the cracked tiles in the water. The pool edges under the water look like they have been tiled over from the original tile. The problem is when they overlay-ed the new tile the edging had not been cut properly and every tile around is as sharp as a razor .Im not kidding, you could slice your wrist over it . If you have kids avoid pool at all costs . Apart from this the surroundings are very tranquil. Its peaceful and quite enjoyable if you are only looking at relaxing for a while. The owner should seriously look at either demolishing and starting again or renovate to fix the serious problems in which we experienced on our stay.

If you like a quieter part of Sanur, this will work for you. The location was within short walking distance to the beach, although a bit far from the central area and markets. There wasn't a convenience store within close proximity, which of course was rather inconvenient. We used the Bluebird App a few times with success. The villa size was perfect for a family, with lounge/dining space, large fridge and equipped kitchen, with 3 single beds in the second bedroom (one was eventually removed to allow our only daughter some space) and a 2nd toilet separate to the main bathroom available. There was plenty of plants around the property to provide a cool environment. The position of our villa and the layout of the property, made us feel as though we had little privacy, so kept curtains drawn most of the time. The wiring was of concern, with many light switches not working and one of the main kitchen lights continuing to flicker once turned off - this was particularly annoying during the night. The pool appeared unclean, showing a line of green slime around the sides and patches on the bottom tiles, so we chose not to swim. When booking this place I had built an impression that it would be a cosy, friendly, family run establishment. Unfortunately, we experienced an oddly uncomfortable feeling during our 4 day stay; something I haven't encountered before in my many regular trips to Bali. Only one of the two staff members we saw during our stay, had minimal interaction with us the whole time. Things were not well explained, so we weren't even sure if water was supplied. We felt the accommodation was overpriced at $112 p/n for 2 adults and 1 child (including a very simple breakfast), especially considering the overall condition and presentation of the villa, which needed some maintenance, updating and TLC. We decided to cut our losses and chose to move on two days early, without requesting a refund.

Yet again we returned to our paradise. We felt wecolmed as old friends and treated like kings and queens. Really enjoy the laid back atmosphere and nothing is any trouble. Room was more than we needed and breakfast each morning freshly cooked was great. We will see Irma. Ron and his team again when we return to Bali

WHile the location is very good - walking distance from shops and the beech, the hotel was poorly maintained and dirty. Our room had several issues with lights not working, and we had to move rooms when the shower stopped working. THere is much better to be had in Bali than this.

Returned and found the high standards remain, which seems against some recent reviews. Ron's knowledge of Sanur a benefit in where to go, where to eat etc. Again, a most comfy bed, room clean with full size fridge we found to be important. Top breakfast and the staff really good. In a quiet location that we like but a short stroll to all the action of Sanur. Little red Esky continues to dominate. Thanks Ron and Irma.

We stayed here as a couple mid-March, we flew about 17 hours to get there, and boy was it worth it!! A description of paradise will always vary person to person, but I am pretty sure for most in the western world 'budget' would not be a part of their paradise description?! This place is budget, no doubt about it, it is *incredible value for money!* I have been reading through some of the negative reviews and I can't help but chuckle, when did people start to think they could pay peanuts and get luxury? Even so, for me this place WAS luxury! Because it was quiet, (at times I couldn't find anyone, a bit of paradise right there methinks!) The breakfasts were lovely and their dogs made us feel welcome every time we returned from a trip. Were there issues? Sure, we arrived and a day later the heavens opened for a couple of days straight and our roof leaked. Big drama? Nope, we just moved rooms. Now onto the staff, they were lovely, so nice and warm and friendly, as for Ron himself, what an interesting guy to talk to, friendly, helpful and matter of fact, just how I like people to be! To be honest, a visit here is like going to stay with family, you accept that it's not perfect, if you wanted perfect you would have paid three times as much and gone to stay in one of the big hotels on the beach! This place is a family home with villas around the pool, it's a place to stay if you are going to Bali to be with the people, I loved it! We were there over Nyepi, Irma cooked for us and it was amazing!!! I'm not the most sociable of people, but I have to say, between the staff and the guests we met (who were ALL return visitors by the way) I actually enjoyed every conversation I had. I can not wait to return!

Only booked here because a friend was staying here. The premises are very run down and needs maintenance badly. I emailed to the day before to double check my driver was still picking me up from the airport, as my friend said that there driver wasn't at the airport when they arrived. i had no response so i rang and the manager sounded drunk on the phone and said yes your driver will be there When i checked in i thought what have i got myself into as its the most run down place i have ever stayed, my room was ok clean and tidy however there was no TV in my room so i had to ask for one. The best thing about this place was the cooking school located at the back which was great loved every minute of the cooking school. the place needs some serious TLC would have been great in its hay day.

Response from Cempaka1, Owner at Sanur Beach Villas
Responded 21 Mar 2018
The driver was waiting for you as per arrangement. The fact that you failed to look for your name on the sign the he held and instead headed to the Information Counter is something that can not be blamed on the driver. Our drivers manage to pick up thousands of other people every year. The driver actually commented about your anger and bad manners when he brought you to the hotel. 10 million tourists a year manage to find their drivers. As for your next bit of slanderous comment. I do have a hearing impediment but it is highly unlikely I would have been drunk at 11.40 in the morning. You are well aware of that and have added the ridiculous comment to try and give the rest of your ludicrous review a bit of credibility. Let us address the next problem. There was no TV and you had to ask for one. Goodness me what an inconvenience. You have arrived on a beautiful tropical island. You are 50 metres from the beach and the most important thing in your life is to watch Indonesian TV shows.
