Mulia Resort is frequently celebrated for its spacious and immaculate rooms, with guests reveling in the elegant and inviting atmosphere that includes opulent decor and touches of luxury for special occasions. The service at the Mulia Resort earns high marks for its friendly and professional staff. While some visitors feel the resort's prices are steep, particularly for food and beverages, the hotel's prime location with a private beach, extensive pools, and a plethora of activities often compensates for the cost. Nevertheless, a few reviewers suggest certain amenities require maintenance and can be crowded during peak times.

Hotel's Favourite

We were recommended this resort by my wife's friend. They had noted that the resort facilities are fantastic for families. With that in mind, we booked a standard Royal Suite via the Mulia's website, which included a promotion for staying 7, but paying 5 days, with complementary daily breakfast for two. The hotel thankfully offers an airport transfer option, which we used. Arriving at night time with two young children in tow, we were very tired, but the transfer staff were very helpful with taking our bags and making sure we were sufficiently cooled and hydrated for the quick 20ish minute ride from the airport to the resort. The check-in experience was quick and seamless, and we were escorted to our room with some additional information being provided about where things are located on the resort. The hotel wifi was stable, if not not particularly super fast, within interior spaces. However, outside reception is very patchy, and I found that I would lose the signal constantly. However, the outdoor spaces were fabulous enough for me to be happy to put down my phone.

We were situated in Room 2341, which is essentially at the back of the property. This location is fantastic for beach and pool access, but is a considerable distance from the resort facilities such as the lobby, and dining precinct. Please keep this in mind if you are travelling with children. I cannot stress enough how large this property is - it is much more akin to a small city than a resort. It will take a few days to fully find your way around if you wish to explore. The Mulia Resort accommodation area contains a beautifully kept outdoor garden in the middle of the building, and also has a myriad of water features. One thing my wife mentioned was how meticulously kept the gardens throughout the property were.

The Royal Suite is magnificently spacious - the pictures on the website do not give adequate justice to just how large the room is, as well as how sun-filled the room is when the curtains are drawn. The bed was large, with oversized pillows, and was incredibly comfortable. The room was also set up with a sofa bed for our eldest child, and a portable cot in the room, as per our request. I must give special mention to the walk in wardrobe, which was large enough to accommodate all our luggage and clothing. The bathroom is very luxurious, with an oversized soaking tub that fills up very quickly, and a fantastic Toto electronic toilet, which I have not seen in any hotel outside of Japan. The amenities were good, with particular mention going to the shower gel from Mandarin Tea. Despite all of us being in the one room, it never felt crowded at all, and the airconditioning kept us very comfortable, despite the unseasonable heat. The Samsung Smart TV has, in my opinion, the best selection of channels I have ever seen in a hotel. This could be dangerous, as the temptation to just stay in bed and watch tv while ordering room service is just too high! The room attendants were fantastic, with exceptionally quick turnarounds on housekeeping services. We often had the room on do not disturb during primary housekeeping hours, but in the span of a quick meal outside, housekeeping always had the room looking absolutely faultless. There was also a large workdesk, which was more than enough to enjoy in room dining on. The only minor issue I would note is that the hotel rightfully expects wet clothing not to be draped on the balcony - however, the outdoor clothing rack does not provide sufficient space for more than two adult's worth of wet clothing. That being said, the high humidity and temperatures meant that clothing dried within a few hours at most.

The hotel is located on the southern end of the island, along Geger Beach (which is along the eastern side). The Beach was great, with fine sand and warm water. Just note that the sand closer to the resort side (south) is slightly rocky, but the sand towards the Mulia side (north) is much softer. The hotel maintains countless cabanas poolside, as well as the beach, so you can certainly spend many hours going between the two areas. The pool attendants and lifeguards are more than happy enough to set up the cabanas for you. The beach looks out to the Pura Geger Dalem Pemutih, which has to be one of the most breathtaking locations for a temple I have ever seen. Based on our research, there was plenty of tourist attractions to see along the beach, which thankfully has a walking path, but the pull of the hotel was too good, and we did not end up venturing off the property.

The staff were wonderful, friendly, and polite. From housekeeping, through to the dining servers, lifeguards/pool attendants, reception, maintenance crew, as well as gardeners, everyone (and I mean everyone) we saw greeted us with a smile. Our 4 year old even commented that "everyone here is so nice". I must give special mention to the staff of Mulia Kidz, who treated our eldest daughter like a Balinese princess, and made sure that she was always occupied and entertained. Our daughter is usually not receptive to 'strangers', but they put her at ease to the point where she even demanded that we leave her there on a daily basis, which speaks volumes to their ability to make the children feel comfortable and safe. A recurring theme in this review is that the resort is large - and there is a small army of staff. For those who prefer a more personalised experience with a familiar face day to day, you may be better off getting a room type with a butler. I wish I could remember the names of all the people who helped us, but the reality is that it would be a very long list.

Our 7-day stay was in early November, which I understand is off-peak season. I'm not sure what the occupancy rate was, but we hardly saw anyone anywhere towards the start of our stay. However, we gradually saw more people towards the end of it, with more guests and group arrivals coming in then. As mentioned earlier, the resort is enormous, so outside of breakfast time, we saw only a handful of people anywhere else at a given time, including the pools. There are plenty of activities scheduled throughout the resort grounds, as well as within the relevant kid's clubs. While other kid friendly destinations can be chaotic, the resort was very tranquil and quiet.

We would typically have breakfast at about 9-9.30, where it started to become busy towards the end of our trip. However, the staff at the Cafe (which can be described as the main dining venue), were fantastic at making sure empty tables were turned around quickly. We never waited for more than 1 minute prior to being seated. The Cafe specialises in International cuisine, and we were impressed by the mix of Balinese/Indonesian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, and Western staples. The food was plentiful and delicious, and we certainly made the most of the buffet. You are also advised to check out the 'sweet' room, where the pastries and other desserts are kept, as well as the freshly made ice cream - yes, ice cream! Our eldest daughter loved being able to have ice cream every day for breakfast, and there is a wonderful assortment of flavours. Our only minor complaint was that some of the food will get rotated out in favour of other dishes during a 'longer' stay so you may miss out on some of your favourites. We also dined at Table 8 (Chinese), and Edogin (Japanese) during our stay. Both offer buffet meals, but outside of breakfast, we are not particularly big eaters, so we opted for a la carte. Both establishments offer authentic meals, at a very reasonable price, noting that some dishes are more expensive than others. Our view was that the meals were very good for 'foreign' attempts at these types of cuisine, but obviously do not compare to meals made in those countries - however, this is not a negative point. The kids menu is consistent between all dining establishments (thankfully), and our daughter was happy with all the meals she had, which is saying a lot for a particularly fussy eater. We enjoyed checking out the Mulia Deli for dessert on a few nights (pro tip: 50% off after 8pm), with more ice cream and pastries being consumed by us.

Towards the end of our stay, we made use of the complementary welcome drink at the Cascade Lounge on the lobby level. This area has arguably the best view of the entire property, which an elevated vantage point towards the east. Our next favourite area was on level 5, towards the Mulia Lake, which is very serene.

Soleil is the more 'casual' dining space operated near the pools, which focuses more on mediterranean and pan-asian fare. We were shocked and pleasantly surprised to have had the tastiest wood-fired pizza we have ever had, as well as Thai and Vietnamese dishes which absolutely rival dishes we have been lucky enough to have in both countries at their best restaurants and street markets. The atmosphere was very relaxing, and we enjoyed having most of our lunches and dinners here. Overall, we would consider Soleil to be the pick of all the restaurants.

In terms of facilities, the resort gym/fitness centre is well-stocked with new and high tech equipment, but sadly very underutilised by the guests. I only ever saw 2-3 guests there during our entire stay. There are a multitude of pools throughout the property. The majority of guests favoured the Ocean Pool, which was well patroned, but never too busy. We made good use of the swim up bar. The ladies courtyard pool and the courtyard pool barely had anyone using them during our stay, and if you are after a more relaxed and quiet setting, these places may be for you.

In terms of food and beverage cost, we spent approximately AUD100 per day for 3 people on various things (lunches, dinners, in room dining, as well as drinks), and consider that this is excellent compared to other high-end resorts, and definitely cheaper than Australia for the quality. Other places in Bali can be much cheaper for meals, but the Mulia Resort provides good consistency, variety, and safety that you can rely on. Given the many options for flights to Bali from Australia, I think this hotel is exceptional in terms of value for money for a more luxurious stay, especially when compared to the competition, and what is actually provided.

This was our first time ever going to Bali, and did not know what to expect, but the Mulia Resort certainly endeared itself to us. We had a very relaxing time, with zero fuss, and we felt very well taken care of. Our days were spent eating, swimming, and just generally having a great time. We will absolutely be making a return trip in the near future, and can easily recommend it to anyone looking for an upmarket and relaxing stay.

We took our three young kids to this resort, and were delighted with the pools, clean beach, water activities (we did kayaking), buffet breakfasts and the huge kids club. My munchkins especially liked the kids pool with slides and sprinklers.
The resort rooms can only comfortably sleep 3 people, so we had two adjoining rooms and a cot. This gave us heaps of space and options when inevitably one of the kids gets a bit sick and you need the others to have a good nights sleep......

The room we got was at a quiet location with occasional bird chirping sounds during the day. The hotel is huge as such some guest with bad navigation may need to go to Lobby just to access the breakfast restaurant (my mother did this since she could not remember). If you are good with directions, fear not, I mastered it after going to the restaurant once. We went to the beach area and had Detika, a staff, helped us to take our picture. He was helpful.
The housekeeping teams were nice too. They provided two sandals for each of us, after we requested for it (one to be used in-room and one to be used when we wander in the hotel vicinities). As my trip was during COVID19 and I did not bring sandals during my trip (which is silly, considering this hotel is located in Bali), I prefer to separate the sandals. Also, they are not stingy with the mineral waters. Generally, in other hotels, we are given 2 free bottled mineral water and if we still have 1 unopened bottled water, other hotels would only add 1 more free bottled mineral water. Fortunately this was not the case for Mulia Hotel. They just added the bottled water. Mulia's standard is to give 4 x 600ml bottled mineral water. As someone who drank 2L of water every day, my family and I really appreciate this.

There were not many guests in the hotels so we managed to dine-in in the restaurant and still have some good distance with other guests who were dining-in as well.

Minor feedback: It would be good if the hotel could provide good stationeries for their staff as I was given a broken but usable pen to provide feedback in the restaurant. The pen was still usable, but hard to write with.
Overall, I am super satisfied with the stay.

We had the short break during covid time, so we were a bit concern with protocols. However, we were ensured by the hotel staff with good discipline in using masks, distancing and well maintained facilities. We had the Ocean Signature Court room with great view to the beautiful swimming pool and some part of the ocean , the room is spacious and enable to accommodate 1 children.
I had to mention special guest service officer - Pak Roso who had been kindly enough to help us in taking beautiful pictures by the pool and the beach, offering help to assist us in making our stay enjoyable ... thank you, Pak Roso - we felt your sincere hospitality 🙏
What we like most as family was the sumptuous breakfast, fresh, tasty and complete culinary journey - Indonesian, Chinese, Indian , Japanese and Western. One word for Mulia Resort is spacious and I managed to have a short online session in the ground terrace looking over the pool, so many beautiful spots to relax, enjoy the fresh air and beautiful views all around. A great stay indeed and sincere thanks to all hotel staffs who had been working so hard especially during the pandemic. #WonderfulBali #WonderfulIndonesia

If this review was just about the restaurants, food and service that you get at the Mulia Resort I would have given it 5 stars. It is the layout and planning of the place that pulls it down a star. Every room, lounge, bar, restaurant, pool, corridor, furniture and decorative artefact is COLOSSAL and all so spaced out that getting from one point to another is a little journey in itself - like Gulliver walking through Brobdingnag! Less conspicuous than its MAMMOTH size is the absence of overhead cover linking various parts of the resort. Everything works when it is sunny. But when it pours you will get wet going to or returning from dinner at the Soleil restaurant, for instance. There are also too few lifts and they are situated too far apart. There are no indications at the lift foyers to tell you what floor you are on. Nor are there indications on the lift control panels to say what floor the various restaurants, lounges, bars, shops or pools are. The resort could do with a chemist, a hairdresser and an air-conditioned lounge with live music, to name but a few things that could fill the acres of wasted built-up space. The Mulia Resort will not suit the elderly or the unfit. But even if you don’t stay here, come just for a meal at one of the restaurants. The Table8 Restaurant, for instance, is as good as any Chinese restaurant in Singapore or Hongkong. And the staff at the Mulia Resort are about the most friendly, polite and helpful people you will meet in Bali.

My partner and I decided to spend a little extra cash on this stay as it was over my birthday and Christmas. It’s safe to say it is as beautiful as the photos. The rooms were very large and the best was to die for. If you’re looking for a resort with everything pretty much in house without having to leave this is definitely a bliss sanctuary. Daily activities list with a fantastic gym (free of use). It also has a wonderful world option breakfast (I would make sure you get this included in your room otherwise it’s very expensive. I would advise not going down during “rush hour” 9-10am as you will queue for a while waiting for a table which is a little frustrating when you’re hungry). Staff are extremely polite always greeting you wherever you go. Beautiful sun beds on the beach with so many pools. Food and drinks are just fabulous, just a little expensive for Bali prices. Just be careful with the swim up bar and bed services as putting it on the room its easy to get carried away.

We only visited the Japanese restaurant but the food was divine and I highly recommend it as the service was also brilliant.

The only downfall was there was no drinking water available anywhere unless you were willing to pay through the roof at the bars. You get given 2 small bottles each in your room daily but nowhere aside from the gym to fill up (we only found this option by chance as we used the gym). You also don’t get offered water at any of the restaurants unless you order it again costing a bomb. A little scandalous considering the amount you pay for the resort. It is a very small issue that could be easily rectified by either a supermarket onsite or filling machines. Aside from this a fantastic stay and I would recommend those who want to do nothing but sit back and relax.

We returned to stay in Mulia Resort after 2 years hiatus due to the pandemic. Everywhere people was friendly and helpful.

Rooms are still cleaned well and well maintained, although some wallpaper around the toilet are starting to peel. Rooms could be a little brighter, perhaps management can add more lights around the room.

At the moment, only 1 restaurant is open for lunch and 2 are open for dinner but that doesn't stop us from enjoying our meal as the menu are comprehensive.

We also did a Bonfire by the beach which was one of the highlight of our trip. Putu Iriawan from the pool team helped to set it up for a reasonable fee. We roasted some marshmallows and biscuits. I would like to see them serving canapes at the bonfire so we could stay there longer and have a light meal. Overall was a good experience.

A good 5 star hotel with below average service, several things kept us from really liking this hotel; there’s no vallet parking for guest, bad check-in experience no welcome drink, unfriendly staff and security at the front; when we were checking in, while we waited for the room to be ready, we were planning to eat at soleil for lunch but it was raining, so we have to either use buggy or walk through the rain to get there, the security officer doesnt show any effort to ready the buggy and give no certainties when will the buggy be ready, the front office employee doesn’t even offer asisstance to accompny us to the restaurant (which when we become familiar with the place was not far or hard at all to go to the restaurant and is actualy a breeze for them to accompany us with an unbrella), eventually we use buggy to went to soleil but it was not thanks to the help of the front office people. One more thing, because we stayed at “Mulia Resort” we were NOT ALLOWED to go to the so called “Oasis Pool” (the pool with large statues that was shown in the homepage of mulia website, ads, youtube videos etc) because it is exclusive”

Despite that, The Hotel facilities are very clean, the room is also clean classic and beautiful, it has the fluffiest most comfortable blanket I’ve ever felt. They have the smart toilet, bathtub and also complete amenities in the room. The pool is so big and clean, connected to the beach, it’s very picturesque. For us bringing a toddler, the kids pool is very kids-friendly and safe with the warm assistance and hands on service from Mas Alfig. The restaurant; The Cafe & Soleil offered great foods, delicious breakfast & seafood selections.

Dear Danti P, We regret to hear that your stay was not as expected. Our resort does not provide a valet parking service as our parking area is conveniently located on the Resort grounds, with direct elevator access to the Resort Dining Facilities and Resort Lobby which gives excellent access for all our guests. Indeed, the welcome drink is served at our Cascade Lounge that can be enjoyed at your convenient time. I regret to hear that you had unpleasant experience with our security, please rest assured that this is certainly not indicative of the standard comments we receive normally from our customers from time to time. However, I would like to thank you for sharing this with us. We appreciate your kind words about our cleanliness, the view, room interior, kids facilities, scrumptious food, as well as staff friendliness delivered by Alfig. Once again we thank you for the gift of feedback and we hope to be able to welcome you back to Mulia resort Bali. Best wishes, Management and team of Mulia Resort

This resort is so huge. The staffs are very friendly and thoughtful. Ina who's in charge in the Kids Pool is one of them. She's doing extra miles by accompanying my kids to play and chat, so I can relax 😎 Everything on this resort is well maintained. AC on room, hot water on shower ant tub also the water pressure work well. The Kids club was nice and clean, bring me peace of mind when leaving my kid there while supervised by friendly staff. When I back to Bali, this resort will be my first option. Keep up the great work Mulia Resort Nusa Dua Bali 👍👍👍

Mulla is an amazing spectacle- huge statues in the pool area. access to the ocean, food, the nicest employees, but you still can't drink the water. Or use ice. I don't understand why it is so difficult for them to figure out how to sanitize the water, but it remains the main problem to traveling outside of the states, Europe, and Australia.
