Merusaka Nusa Dua is often celebrated for its tranquil and inviting atmosphere, complete with impressive decorations and live entertainment that captivate guests. Many visitors laud the hotel's serene beachfront location, ideal for both relaxation and proximity to nearby shopping. While the spacious and comfortable rooms receive high marks for cleanliness and pool access, some guests note occasional maintenance issues.

pros: the hotel is located on the Nusa Dua beach, upon arrival there are always checkpoints at the checkpoint, you seem to feel safer, but this is not certain. Upon arrival, the control officer said that we were a little mistaken, since the hotel was worn out and there were newer hotels at this price in Nusa Dua. Of course we were a little confused. As it turned out the hotel was 4+, we got a clean room with a broken reading light and a rain shower that fell apart during the first use. By the way, the repairman came in 10 minutes and fixed everything, so there was no need to move. There is a separate bathroom, unfortunately ours. overlooked the windows of the neighboring building, so they hardly used it, and even if there were 3 swimming pools with warm water and the ocean. Water only in bottles: 4 in the bedroom, 4 in the bathroom, if you run out, call the reception and they will replace it. There is a balcony where almost nothing dries due to humidity. The hotel area is well-kept, the workers have been working hard since the morning. at 7-8 in the morning after breakfast, all paths will already be swept, and fallen leaves will be removed. Problems sometimes happen with algae on the beach: 3-4 workers rake and bury them in the sand during the day, sometimes the shore looks like after a storm (in this case you need to go a little to the right, it’s ideal) and sometimes the shore is simply clean, we didn’t find any particular pattern . You can lie on the beach all night watching the stars, no one will chase you away, and the stars here are worth seeing. There are surfing instructors on the beach (I say hello to Willie), I took it 3 times - a very good physical workout, I got on the board in half an hour, it’s very addictive.
We only took breakfast and were very pleased. At breakfast you can also find fruits, Balinese, Indian, vegetarian, and European food. 15 minutes from the hotel there is a supermarket that sells fruit, beer is 2 times cheaper than in the hotel. Also in the village nearby you can find decent spa salons, which are also 2 or even 3 times cheaper than a hotel spa. The only thing is that you will not be offered a shower and it may not be so clean inside, but the Balinese are trying. Along the road in the village there are a bunch of European restaurants and several warungs where you can have a great lunch or dinner.
cons: we stayed for 10 days. The room was cleaned every day: towels were changed, the bathroom was cleaned, bathrobes were folded, but our linen was never replaced (only on the 6th day of our stay, after calling the reception they changed everything) and here, as you can imagine, you sweat even with air conditioning. and of course there is no audibility, you will hear everything that happens in the corridor from Indians with children who got up at 6 am or the janitor's cart, in short, earplugs are needed for a sound sleep. they will also hear you, so quietly go about your business)

We stayed for a week in a pool access room and it was worth the extra money! The rooms were very spacious, with a huge bathroom and shower with added bath and the added bonus of your own balcony with steps into the shared lagoon style pool. Our pool was in building 5 and shared with about 5 other rooms. Our room had 4 bottles of water replenished everyday so we didn't have to purchase as much water this trip. The buffet breakfast was satisfying however be mindful that is can get quite busy the later you go. There was a abundance of sun lounges by the main pools and the beach and the tides created different conditions but mostly very flat and easy to manage. The water was a stunning colour and its worth getting up early for a sunrise walk as there is paths all along all the resorts. One of the pools has a 2 level jumping platform which was a bit of fun and there are different events and activities run each day. I did a morning stretch class which was a nice way to start the day. The gym though small is well equipped with a few treadmills, ellipticals, weight machines, leg press, free weights a d benches. Again, best to go early as can get busy meaning waiting for equipment. The resort itself is walking distance to the main shopping and dining street with Bali Collection also walking distance. I reccomend if you want to save money eat at any of the restaurants along Jl.Pantai Mengait, lots of variety and great service. Personally Bali Collection was very expensive to me so we only browsed and grabs some snacks but shopping is limited in Nusa Dua so would reccomend making the trip into Legian or Kuta if you want some bargains. Grabs are a super easy snd cheap way to get around Bali. This trip rekindled my love for Bali so hope to head back soon!

We stayed at this property for 5 nights. The staff is impeccable, always smiling and really courteous. The structure is large but the environment remains peaceful and quiet. The beach is well organised, it's a shame about the rubbish present all over the coast: for the location populated by 5 star hotels it is unacceptable. With a few more bins and a night beach guardian, perhaps this very serious problem could be solved. The breakfast is excellent, very rich and of high quality, served in the restaurant overlooking the swimming pool and garden, with the sea in the background. The rooms are large, clean, and very well looked after. Splendid room with direct access to the pool! The use of glass bottles for drinking water was appreciated. The fact of not being able to charge expenses to the room, but being forced to leave a deposit of a random amount during check-in, otherwise you have to pay everything at the moment of consumption (first time something like this has happened to us in a structure) is very inconvenient. 5 stars. This does not take away from the fact that our experience was unforgettable! I recommend you do the photo shoot in the facility, very good guys, indelible memories!

Relaxed at Merusaka Nusa Dua for 3 nights. The hotel arrived early , the manager offered welcome drinks and when the room is ready to come text on the vacap. Checked in at about 1 p.m. The room is a big, huge bed, the room had a coffee machine, exit to the pool for 2 rooms. Cleaned room two times. A nice girl would meet her for breakfast, and she would offer a table outdoors or indoors where there was air conditioning. If there were no seats, you had to wait and when there was room, we were invited. All the food was on tables where there was no air conditioning and there were flies. Coffee machine .made very delicious coffee.food European and there was a table with local cuisine. There were freshly squeezed juices, juices with ginger and cinnamon. We only had breakfast. In the evening you could order pizza on the ocean, but if there was an event (wedding) at the hotel you can not eat. The ocean was warm, the tides weren't coming in. If you bathe a little to the left of the swing, the water is cleaner, there's practically no debris. Knocks down debris and algae, and in some places the water is murky. In general, you can swim. On the left there is an observation deck before it can pass through another hotel, very interesting when the big waves. When you go to the observation deck on the left, there will be tents with coconuts and drinks. Vendor in Anya tent, knows Russian and always gave nuts to beer. beer 0.6 - 40,000 rupees., hotel 0.3 - 45,000 rupees. Dollars exchanged at the hotel the rate was 100- 1510,000, Dinner went to Bali Collector, there take tax check was 483,000 with tax turned out to be 583,000 rupees. The pools cascaded with very warm water and smelled strongly of chlorine, so the shared pool was not used.

We stayed 8 nights in a suite with garden view. The suite was well worth the extra money as it was huge and luxurious. The suites are all in the main building, just moments from the restaurants and pools. Housekeeping come twice a day and deliver afternoon treats each day. The resort is set in magnificent tropical grounds, leading on to a beautiful beach. There are 4 restaurants, a cake shop, a Gelato place, and a swim up bar. There are 6 pools - 3 interconnected ones, 2 more shallow pools for little ones, and what we liked to call the party pool, which has the swim up bar and music playing all day long. Beach towels are provided free of charge and you can rent floaties for around NZ$10 for the day. There are loads of sun loungers around the pools and on the beach. Despite the resort being fully booked, we always found a place to chill. One of the staff at the beach will find loungers for you if you need help. Which brings me on to the staff. I have traveled to many countries and stayed in some top hotels and the Balinese are incredible. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a huge smile and genuine warmth. BUT if you arrive with expectations that your glass of wine or your coffee will always be promptly delivered, then you might be disappointed. I personally believe that relaxing on holiday means not sweating this kind of stuff but I saw some people treat these lovely people with disdain. Restaurants - there is a mix of Western and Indonesian food across them all. The beachside bar and restaurant serves pizzas, burgers etc. The Homaya restaurant is purely Indonesian. The Gadang and the Ja'Jan Bistro are a mix of everything. The breakfast buffet served in the Gadang has a vast selection. It gets very busy but we never had trouble finding a table. Last tip - we took the all inclusive package through Luxury Escapes. Definitely fantastic value! Literally everything is included - all meals, cocktails, ice cream, cakes and the great majority of drinks. There was a tiny surcharge for premium beers and wines. We had a wonderful stay at Merusaka and highly recommend the resort.

The hotel is located in a pleasant and safe location. There is a well-maintained park nearby, suitable for jogging, strollers, and walks. about 10 minutes walk to the shopping center with restaurants, shops, pharmacy, exchange offices, live music.
The hotel itself is also very pleasant, well maintained. We had a Deluxe Double room, which was spacious, the bed was comfortable and large, the bathroom was large with a shower and bathtub. They added hotel amenities to us every day. The room is equipped with air conditioning, safe, mini fridge, electric kettle, TV.
A la carte food in the restaurant is tasty, nicely served, and of good quality. The hotel breakfast is a buffet, during breakfast it is slightly busy, noisy, the choice of food is average. For breakfast, I liked the noodle soup and the traditional drink Jamu the most. The service in the beach restaurant is a little slower. The staff is very nice, accommodating, they try to do their best. Their behavior justifies small flaws.
The pools and the area around are clean and water is refreshing. The beach is wide and long with fine sand, the entrance to the sea is gentle. They are trying to clean the coast, but the sea sometimes washes up garbage and algae. The sea is also suitable for weaker swimmers, also suitable for learning to surf. due to the fact that there are only 5 star resorts and the beach is large, it is not crowded, the atmosphere is calm.

In Nusa Dua, we didn't necessarily imagine finding a charming and authentic hotel. However, we did not expect such a big hotel and so many tourists and rooms. Despite the crowds, during the day you don't really feel it. The rooms are arranged in a row but the green spaces arranged in such a way as to improve the visual appearance. Breakfast is nevertheless noisy with many people gathered in one space and a little disorganized. We often had to ask for our drinks which were slow to arrive. Our double room was furnished with an extra bed and a bed on the sofa to accommodate our family of 4. When we arrived, a big disappointment because we thought we would have a family room with two double beds. Our granddaughter is 6 years old so in the end it didn't pose any problems for us but with older children it would have been complicated. Spacious bathroom, regularly stocked. Housekeeping done every day on request. Clean room. Varied breakfast with buffet. Breads, pastries, excellent waffles, yogurt and several typically Indonesian dishes for those who like them. The fruits, on the other hand, are very disappointing, without flavor. The beach is beautiful and clean and not dangerous for children. Deckchairs available. Perhaps in insufficient quantity given the number of people. Lots of deckchairs in the background and in rows before the beach. You have to love promiscuity. Very pretty swimming pools on the other hand. Here again a few additional deckchairs would keep everyone happy. Many people leave their napkins behind for the day, even when they leave the place for meals. Big negative point: the three restaurants. The food is not up to standard, the quantities of certain dishes are very limited at Gading and not very tasty and the prices are very high. We were quickly eaten a few steps away where the value for money seemed better to us. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Everyone greets you and smiles. In summary, it is a very large complex, where the outdoor spaces are well maintained, the rooms quite simple in terms of decoration. It lacks a little charm for our taste even if it remains a hotel with a high level of service.

Currently at The Merusaka. We have stayed in many five star resorts in Asia & the Middle East (including both Padmas in Bali) and unfortunately the Merukasa is rated as a four star in our opinion especially when considering the online marketing and price for staying at the resort. Staff are lovely, the resorts position and amenities are good but its those little touches that are lacking. For example: Arrived at 12:40 for a 2pm checkin. Rooms we’re not given priority cleaning so was still waiting in lobby until receiving the keys after 2:30pm. Breakfast cutlery wrapped in tissues rather than cloth napkins. Coffee at breakfast from machines with milk carton attachments that often run out as opposed to being made and served by staff. Signs of age, wear and tear in rooms including stains and aged bathroom fittings. Decking around main pool is in disrepair - actually removed an exposed screw that was sticking up. Again, we like the resort and the staff but feel it can’t be rated as five stars when compared to other resorts in Bali and South East Asia.

An excellent hotel for the money, a beautiful, large, well-kept area, the sea is clean and you can also swim at low tide, as you can’t feel it, we walked along the path along the beach through the neighboring Hyatt and Marriott hotels to the city beach, there are a lot of surfers there, and at low tide there is knee-deep sea, which cannot be said about Merusaki Beach. There are plenty of sunbeds, you can always find a free one, very pleasant shade from the vegetation around, squirrels jumping through the trees. The rooms are excellent, we took them with access to the pool, you can swim early in the morning and late in the evening, the room has all the necessary shower accessories, towels are changed every day, the cleaning is excellent, the bed is very comfortable. Breakfast is very varied, there is always room, both on the veranda and inside. We took a full-day excursion around the island from the locals, visited all the most beautiful places, Bali remained in our hearts, maybe we’ll come back again

There are four issues with the Marisaka hotel. Let me start by saying that this resort is comfortable, well maintained and the staff are extremely helpful. We did not find anyone and that was not pleasant.
There are, however, in my opinion, 4 issues that impacted on our stay. 1) Refrigerators in the room. 2) Serving of the meals 3) Glass bottles in the swimming pool 4) Plastic in the ocean
1) Refrigerators in the room. These did not keep anything cool. Drinks in the refrigerator came out as though it had never been inside. We asked to have ours fixed and they removed it from the cupboard in which it was enclosed and placed it alongside. It then worked perfectly. We asked our friends about the refrigerators in their rooms and they had exactly the same issue. It would not be difficult to just to remove the doors from the refrigerator cabinets.
2) Serving of the meals. Time and time again would order an entee and main course the wait staff would deliver all the food at one time. Most restaurants seem to be able to get this right so it must only be a matter of staff training.
3) Glass bottles in the swimming pool. There is a beautiful swimming pool that has a swim up bar from which you can order. If you order a cocktail it comes in a plastic "glass" and is well presented. If you order a beer it comes in a glass bottle and a stubby holder. This significantly increases the chances of glass ending up on the bottom of the pool. I know from an online search that you can buy Bintang and Singaraja beers in cans. It would seem a simple fix to only sell cans at this bar.
4) Plastic on the beach and in the water is a massive issue. Diligent staff turn up every morning and rake the beach to remove the plastic that is washed up over the previous 24 hours. This is great however there is still a lot of plastic in the water itself. Is impossible to swim without coming across floating cups, packets, bottles, etc. I know this is not the fault of the hotel but if some action isn't taken soon tourists will start avoiding the resorts along this coast because of the pollution. I guess the beautiful pools that they have are the secondary option however people who have gone on holidays to a beach would expect to be able to swim in the ocean.
Would I stay here again? Probably yes, but the experience could be enhanced by attending to the points made in this review.

Response from MERUSAKA Nusa Dua, General Manager at Merusaka Nusa Dua
Responded 22 Apr 2024
Hi John Glad you enjoyed your stay, allow me to answer your points briefly: 1. We have surveyed every fridge in each room and measured the operating temperature. There are many that are not at a low enough temperature and this is due to poor air circulation and design of the cabinet enclosing the fridge. So we are conducting a program now to expose the back of the fridge cabinet to allow for vastly improved circulation. This will take us a few weeks to complete but is underway. 2. I will stress this point with the F&B team. The Order Taker should ask guests how they want the order delivered as different nationalities have different preferences in this. 3. We do use plastic drinkware at the pools, and a foam “stubby holder” for beer bottles. A full bottle in a Stubby sinks slowly due to the buoyancy of the Stubby – certainly far slower than required to break the bottle – we have tested this. So I do understand your concern, but feel the risk to be so low and the quality of beer from a bottle versus a can to outweigh that risk. Happily, we have never had a bottle break in our pools. 4. We do clean the beach each day, thank you for recognizing that. The plastic in the sea seems to be a very seasonal thing based on the tides and currents, sometimes it is good, sometimes not so good. There are many programs in Bali now to educate local communities in this and I am glad to say that this area is still a very popular one for swimming and becoming more and more popular as a surfing destination. Many thanks again for your comments, and hope to meet up with you on your return. Ian Cameron General Manager

Sorry Jason, I just saw your question just now.
They do have a swim up bar at the pool that's down near the beach. None of the others do though.
There's little seats in the water to sit on as well.
There are more places to choose from in the Nusa Dua area.
