Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Apurva Kempinski Bali garners accolades for its cleanliness, with guests frequently noting the spotless conditions of its rooms and public spaces. Its secluded location is lauded for its beauty, offering a picturesque haven albeit somewhat isolated. Guests are charmed by the luxurious and grand atmosphere, yet some find the nightlife lacking.
The expansive amenities, including pools and dining options, receive high praise, as does the attentive service. While opinions on value vary, many feel the indulgent experience justifies the cost. Spacious and well-appointed rooms contribute to the positive reviews, despite occasional feedback on upkeep.

Hotel's Favourite
We have just returned from our stay at the Apurva Kempinski. We stayed for 3 nights in the Cliff Private Pool Ocean Suite. We requested for a room with more sunshine, and we got exactly what we wanted, a room with wonderful sunshine all day. Our first impression when we arrived, was how incredibly impressive the lobby was! We were just standing there with our mouths wide open. Hands down, the most impressive lobby we've ever been in.
Our private pool suite, was absolutely amazing, floor to ceiling windows, and waking up to the sun rising and the perfect views from the room, will be locked in our memories for a long time.
We don't impress easily, and we have some very good hotels from Maldives to Phuket. But this place really took it to a whole new level....and then some. It's really too general to group all 5 star hotels in the same group, because as in this case, it proves that Apurva is in a league of it's own.
We met a friendly face in Reto Leutenegger, the F&B manager who came up to speak to us while we were enjoying our cocktails and canapes at PALA rooftop bar on the first evening after we checked in. It is always nice that management takes the time to engage with guests. He must be a busy man, but he took the time to have a chat with us.
We were just a couple in a really large hotel with lots of rooms and guests, he could easily just not come over and talk to us. Although we only stayed for 3 nights, we met him numerous times, because he was constantly making his rounds to the different food outlets. Which probably explains why this resort is run like a well-oiled machine, management is on the ground and working, constantly.
We also would like to give credit to the housekeeping. We would always call to have the room cleaned and made up before we left for breakfast each morning, and each time, by the time we return, the room is spotlessly clean, beds made, and all the extra bottles of requested water are there. We never saw them once, they were like magic elves that came, did their magic and left. Considering how many rooms they have here, they are truly the unsung heroes, the backbone of any well run hotel.
I saw some reviews complaining about how it wasn't possible to take any photos with a camera, or how they were told not to, so knowing all this before we came, we were quite unsure about this, because we have a friend in Bali, who's an avid photographer, and was coming over to visit us during our stay. When he came, all we had to do, was to go to the lobby, fill up a form, and that's it, less than 3 minutes, no fuss, absolutely painless. You're on someone's property, it's only simple courtesy to ask for permission from your host, isn't it? Respect works both ways.
We absolutely loved the food at Apurva, from the pepperoni pizza from the reef club, the club sandwiches we ordered from room service, and the wonderful breakfast from the Cliff Lounge. The option of having both buffet and also ala-carte options for breakfast is just pure genius. We didn't have much chance to dine at all the outlets and we were out on some days, but wished we did.
We were also thrilled to able to the watch the world cup during our stay, and having stayed at another 5 star hotel days prior to coming to Apurva, we couldn't watch any of the matches in our room, and we were wondering...the biggest event in the world, 5 star resort, no world cup, like really? But Apurva was a godsend, not just one channel, nope...multiple world cup channels, all in full HD, might i add.
So, only a small improvement, if any, would be the room service menu. On the current room service menu, there are like only 4 pizzas, and our fave pizza, the pepperoni wasn't on it. We did eat it at the Reef Club, so we just tried our luck one evening, and asked if they could send us one. Guess what? They did, and it was from the Reef Club! Top points for that, so i'm thinking, maybe for room service, some items from any of your other outlets can be made available, like in the case above.
Apurva, thank you for having us, and we made the right decision to stay at your hotel. Our 3 nights stay was too short, we loved the time we spent in our private pool suite, we really didn't want to leave!
Without a doubt, the best hotel and room we've stayed in Bali. We have stayed in some impressive properties in Bali, some more expensive than the Apurva, but none has come this close to perfection, until now.
We will be looking forward to our next stay when we return to Bali in future, so we can recreate these wonderful memories again.

Check in was smooth, room was wonderful and the hotel did strict health protocol. Room was clean too bad the amenities were the same brand as in other 2 or 3 stars hotel (other similar luxury brands hotel use branded toiletries but apparently Apurva doesn’t bother to use branded toiletries instead they choose to use unbranded toiletries similar to products used in 2 or 3 stars hotel.
Toiletries are not filled every day by housekeeping staffs. There was a turn down service which was helpful since so many luxury hotel have decided to eliminate turn down service.
Both restaurants (koral and izakaya) were superb. Excellent service and very nice food so I expect at least similar situation with the breakfast buffet. Well, it’s not. The food was just average. Let’s just say breakfast buffet was left undesirable.
Apart from several minor glitches, everything was good and you felt safe to stay in apurva even though there is a raging pandemic in this world.

I stayed in the hotel with my wife and 3 y.o baby. From the moment I entered the lobby, I was amazed at the huge hall and the view of the ocean. The hotel is new and stunningly clean.
From the check-in desk we decided to upgrade our room to Cliff Suite, which has amazing view from the room overlooking the hotel and ocean. The check in process took a bit long (we were arrived at 2pm and get our room almost 1 hour later). Fortunately they offer us to relax at cliff lounge for afternoon tea. We also get the evening cocktail session at the lounge.
When we arrived at our room, it is wonderful. Amenities are nice and the tub is big enough and the pool water is warm. The room itself deserve a 5 star rating
We are going to the private beach around 5 and played for 1.5 hours. The beach is a bit steep, but there are kayak boats for hotel guest to play with. They have wavebreaker, so the wave is not dangerous for babies and toddlers to play on the beach. However, the beach itself is not crystal clear. But it is not the hotel's mistake.
The only problem that we have was on the breakfast session, when we were told that we are not eligible for breakfast. We told them that we do an upgrade (we were booking from travel agent). After a while, the manager apologize and tell us we should get the complimentary breakfast due to upgrading at the hotel.
Overall, it was amazing experience. Shame we haven't tried their restaurants. Maybe next time we definitely come back.

If you are searching for a place similar to home while staying in Bali, this hotel is the perfect choice for you. Family friendly resort (and they offers plenty of activities) wheelchair accessible and superb design. Shout out to the food service staff (Lestari) who ensures you are enjoying your breakfast conveniently. Another shout out to the house keeping staffs who make sure that you never run out of anything in your room. Impressed by the service and the tiny details in the building.
On the other hand, to ensure guests' safety, i think it could be better if they have a staff who is giving signals to guests when using the pool slides.
Overall, i had a memorable stay and i enjoyed my stay here and will come back for another amazing stay.

We stayed for 6 nights and have a background of picking great hotels around world from 3 to 6 stars ... I have stayed in the Kempnski in Jakarta before, this and a recommendation by a friend convinced me to stay here. This is our experience:
Positive:
Beautifully decorated hotel. Just the hotel lobby is stunning
Mutliple equally nice restaurants from the beach, around the pool, and in the main building
Great gym and fitness center, open until 11p
Very nice rooms, with all amenities, large, new, modern, and high quality
Areas for improvement:
The hotel is very large, almost like a conference hotel. It can take 10 minutes walking from beach to lobby, with only 2 lifts spanning 15 floors rise (or a large staircase)
The restaurants are big, food selection is good, but the taste in blend
The biggest issue is the service. People are for most part super friendly and well intended, but not knowledgeable as to services of the hotel or how to treat customers (everyone first day on the job?). We got frequently wrong responses from staff, which others then start correcting. Requests are forgotten or not dealt with at all. Just for this, I would probably not recommend staying there at all.
The New Year dinner, had a great band, but cheap food (1 star) and terribly bad services. Frustrating to a degree, that the staff didn’t even know the menu. No one could give any recommendation. New GM needed?
The other issue is the beach. The beach has been newly created. It’s large and allows for playing. But the bay also is new and heaps of seaweed (smelly), do not allow for any swimming and kids playing in the water would not be possible. It could be nice, once this is being solved - can it be?
The hotel is far from Ubud, Kuta, or nice beaches. Bali traffic can be bad, so this needs to be considered.
During booking on kempinski web site, I did not receive any email. Few weeks after the initial booking i changed it to a smaller room - no email again. This booking was honored. Trying remotely to solve this issue in an over booked hotel failed, staff stopping to respond. To the credit of the recitation staff, we could solve it on site and after a while we been given the room, we booked. Kempinski web site also has limited function (doesn’t have full booking information, no emails, no emergency contacts, other than the hotel). Probably not a fault of the hotel, yet very inconvenient.

Went for a four-day-stay at the Apurva to celebrate an Anniversary. And I can tell you that everything was perfect. They have maintained their top notch quality.
+
I felt safe throughout my stay, hand sanitizer was abundant and available everywhere
Service was prompt and great
-
Breakfast would be better if they had more varieties and not the same everyday
Some Outside guests were walking around with no masks like it was the 2019.
Gofood isn't allowed so it's hard to cope with the limited options the hotel offered
and the hotel dining is ridiculously overpriced.

We loved everything about this resort, even though the kids club was not yet open in it's planned building, there were kids activities and supervision in a temporary location. However, our kids had so much fun in the main pool areas, especially around the slides, that we only got them into kids club for specific activities they wanted to do.
On the adult side, we loved the Pala restaurant with the huge selection of food options and the quality and deliciousness. We also enjoyed Reef Beach Club, which has amazing views and great architectural features.
We were lucky to stay in a Cliff Side Suite with private pool and access to the Cliff Side Lounge, which I recommend to anyone as you have access to afternoon snacks and pre-dinner drinks (no need for lunch, after a good breakfast).
We didn't try the Koral, as we thought the price was too high, but got a tour as part of an activity. It looks amazing, and I imagine the food is excellent too. We had dinner at Izakaya only once, and was not too impressed, but probably I am not a big fan of Japanese food.
We also tried the gym, the spa and the departure lounge, and were very happy with all that was made available.
Would definitely come back!

Upon entering the hotel, you get the feeling of entering a summer palace with Majapahit mixed with Besakih Temple theme. Plenty of Stone Carvings were made with one of the best historical artifact replica artist, handmade.
With Private Beach Accesa
Check in was very fast, we arrived at the hotel at around 12. Eventhough check in time was at 15 but, they had room available and gave us a room right away. We stayed there for 4days and 3 night with 3rooms, Room is very spacious and clean. Staff was very friendly, tentative and detail. The concierge ensured upon right after, dropping our luggage that all our keys were working properly, air condition and all other room amenities is in perfect condition. Restaurant and Room Service staff always double check if we had any specific diet or allergies that required attention.
The General Manager Mr Vincent and the Hotel Manager made sure we had a good stay and recieved the best hospitality and service. We went as a big group of family of 12 for New Years Celebrations and is truly statisfied with all the hospitality and service. And also recommend this luxury resort, the best and first choice in Nusa Dua

Despite only 1 night stay but this particular hotel made me felt like a king. From the arrival experience I was warmly welcomed by the Director of Front Office Ms. Angelina Lazuardi, her professionalism gave me a confidence that they will certainly take care of me during my stay. I was personally escorted to my room and I was made surprised with the amazing welcome amenity fruits and chocolate (my preferences). I was given a short room orientation and as soon as I saw the view from my room I was captivated and speechless, no words to described that the view was fantastic.
The room was perfectly clean and smell fresh. The towels were flappy, the linen smell fresh and and feels great on skin.
The breakfast was amazing, lots of food variety, staff was really attentive, quickly response to your needs.
Their pool was beautiful and directly in front of the beach. I was given a complimentary drink as soon as I lay down on my sun bed. I tried their spa, nothing to compare with any spa in Bali, Rahma the SPA manager even walked me and did a SPA orientation for me. I had 60 minutes massage and it was really fantastic, my body felt relax and calm. Truly amazing rejuvenation.
Checked out was really smooth, my bill were properly sent to my email.
Kempinski Bali, I will definitely come back!
