My family and I recently reunited in Bali after years of being apart, and I wanted to share our experience staying at your hotel.
Initially, we booked a private villa, but it was so run-down and unpleasant that we decided to leave halfway through our booking and find alternative accommodation. My sister and I carefully read all the reviews to ensure we selected a proper place for the rest of our stay.
After some research, I contacted Mamaka hotel and made an initial booking without payment through WhatsApp. Given the bad experience with the villa, we were cautious and decided to visit the hotel to check the rooms in person before confirming the booking. Traveling with lots of baggage and my elderly parents made this decision even more critical, as we couldn’t risk another disappointment during the busy season.
Fortunately, the staff welcomed us warmly and allowed us to inspect the rooms. This gesture marked the beginning of a wonderful stay. While the hotel’s location, rooftop pool, and restaurant were all perfect, it was staff who truly made our stay memorable.
The response time on the communication app was mere seconds, not minutes. Room service staff were cheerful and accommodating, providing extra water without hesitation and even helping my elderly parents weigh their bags.
Both restaurants offered food of outstanding quality. In many of my previous experiences across the world, I struggled with hotel food, but everything here was perfect. The breakfast staff were so polite and attentive that we felt shy to ask for additional items.
Providing free laundry facilities was another brilliant idea. With Bali's weather, we needed to do laundry almost daily, and having washing machines and a dryer available in the lobby was a huge convenience. The sustainability efforts, such as using glass water bottles instead of plastic, were also greatly appreciated.
Our experience felt like staying at a Marriott, but at a much more affordable price.
Special thanks to Krisan at reception, as well as Purna and Adit from housekeeping. They were all exceptionally kind and professional, though I regret I couldn’t remember everyone’s names.

Good vibrations is the least I can say for this hotel. The amount of detail that went into my stay was extraordinary. The pick up with driver that offered a fresh coconut for the drive to the hotel was a well thought gesture. Welcome drink with the trolly and choice of preference was a special touch and I loved the original way they prepared it especially for me. While I work in 5 star luxury hotels I was very impressed with that welcome as it was unique. The original bar in the room with infused flavors with complete bar set up was a hit. The rooftop team always smiling knew my name and used it enough to make me feel at home. They remembered my preferences and were attentive. Housekeeping kept the room immaculate. Reception team always available to help at any hour also to help with the in room technology at 2am. The hotel is hip and trendy. I felt like a rockstar. If you are lazy and tired you must book the suite to lay in bed and watch the sunset with the complete horizon. The view from the room alone is worth every penny with ceiling to floor complete panoramic windows. I enjoyed my 3 days stay to the maximum and couldn’t think of any better hotel I would rather be. Fully recommend and can’t wait to go back again and again. My go to home for trips to Bali.

We stayed at Mamaka just 18 months ago, so this review is really a comparison from that time to now.
PROS Staff still all lovely - friendly, smiling, eager to assist.
Maintenance callout was very speedy - they arrived within 10mins of asking for them at reception.
All the products you need in the bathroom if you're not fussy - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, toothbrushes etc.
Rooftop pool has lovey view over coastline. Water temp nice, plenty of sun loungers. No shade over the actual pool which, for me, was a shame.
Music everywhere which makes the hotel feel alive.
Blackout blind in the room was fantastic.
CONS Smoke detector went off 2 nights in a row in the middle of the night which was annoying. (maintenance team came quickly though)
I did not like the smell in the corridor. There seemed to be a machine on the wall to control the odour. My husband didn't find it offensive, but it turned my stomach.
Our air con kept resetting itself to 16 degrees.
Any noise in the corridor was very easily heard in our room. Annoying when late at night.
OVERALL The whole place just looks a little tired. The tiles in our room were quite chipped; the towels (both room and pool) were frayed; there was a lot of mould on the grout in the shower; the window in our room was so warped that you could see daylight between the window and the frame.

Fantastic hotel, I really enjoyed staying here the only problem was I had just one night! Wish I could have stayed longer, my room was fresh, clean & bright and the welcome snacks were a nice surprise. The rooftop restaurant has fantastic views over Kuta Beach, I received a delicious bright welcome drink and found this to be a beautiful & comfortable setting. The rooftop pool area is wonderful with about 10 big day beds and that's only counting the 4 poster ones, there's pool loungers too! I also had a great experience in a the salon, with lovely staff who did my hair. There's two other cafes as well, one on ground and one on level 2 (for breakfast I think) which I didn't get time to try. I will definitely stay here again, this hotel location is easy walking distance to the Beachwalk Shopping Centre and also the Poppies Lane(s) central Kuta area for bargain hunting.

The bathroom was in pretty poor condition even though the hotel is quite new.
The bathroom shared a door with the shower so the water flowed out of the shower area and wet the entire bathroom.
The bathroom tap was loose and moved every time we turned on and off the tap to wash our hands.
The soap given was low quality as well. The shampoo dried out my hair, the conditioner felt like someone added water to it and the shower gel was hard to wash off as well. The soap bottles were secured to the wall but had no anti tempering features.
The sound proofing is terrible. The hotel has a roof top pool party during my stay and the music went on till 1am. I could hear the music clearly in my second floor room and the bathroom shook with the beat. It’s absolutely unacceptable, given that the purpose of a hotel room is for restful sleep.
The breakfast also lacked variety with less than 20 items available. There is no live egg station. The only saving grace is the free flow freshly squeezed juices.
Given the large number of affordable hotels in Bali, I would hesitate to go back to this one.

The Mamaka by Ovolo which is listed on some websites as newly built which is not the case; The hotel was previously Citadines Kuta built over 11 years ago and was then purchased and opened in 2020 by Ovolo.
The hotel is conveniently located across the road from Kuta Beach and short walk from restaurants and a shopping mall.
Inside the rooms they have added some new wallpaper and changed the colour scheme.
The rooms are a reasonable sized but the beds for me were to hard and uncomfortable. I did exoress my concerns and the manager Joel was very professional and advised me they are updating and replacing mattresses and he organised a comfort topper for my bed which made it more comfortable. Joel was very dedicated and professional. When all the mattresses are replaced it will be much more comfortable
There is a small LCD TV on the wall for the reasonably good selection of English speaking channels, but why, when a company has bought the hotel, why didn't they upgrade these to modern larger LCD SMART TVs I.thought this was.aityle odd.
The rooms could have better soundproofing and if you get a room that is anywhere near the elevators you'll hear music pumping through internal speakers in the corridors which also emanates into the rooms. So if you're a light sleeper I recommend you ask for a room away from the elevators.
The bathrooms are fairly small. The shower is a reasonable sized but only has average water pressure.
They provide tea and coffee making facilities, a safe, a bar fridge, and free bottled water.
The rooftop Restaurant and Bar offer great views across Kuta Beach and the bay, as does the rooftop swimming pool. The rooftop area is popular at sunset.to watch The sunset over the ocean shin while having a drink.
When all the mattresses are upgraded / replaced, this hotel will be more comfy, but the rooftop bar and views over the beach will always be a winner for this hotel

This was my first time in Bali and MAMAKA by Ovolo was the first hotel me and my boyfriend stayed at and they really set our standards high for the rest of our Bali trip! The hotel is located right in the heart of Kuta and also close to Legian beach.
We absolutely loved the Swagger suite, it was so spacious, clean, beautifully decorated with a pop of yellow & teal and we absolutely loved every corner of the room. The bathroom has a bathtub & a shower and they also provide some bath salts and candle to elevate your bath experience. The view of the Kuta beach from our room was stunning but when we went up to the rooftop (Kuta Social Club) we fell in love even more! The infinity pool on the rooftop was really awesome and we loved our meals at the Kuta Social Club. The stunning sunset during dinner was a plus!
All of the staff members are very friendly and if you need help, you can always contact them through the app that you download on your app :)
If you love surfing the location is also perfect because the Kuta beach is right across the hotel and you can take surfing lessons.
We are definitely coming back when we visit Bali again! Highly recommend 💗

Location: Kuta Beach is a 1-minute cut away, making it the perfect place to learn surfing. You can also walk to the beach walk. Breakfast: It is a la carte breakfast, but it is delicious and you can choose between 1 main, 1 juice, tea or coffee. Facilities: Overall new feel, clean rooms, shower filter can be replaced The rooftop pool is so good that I don’t think I need to go to the beach club. The best place to have a drink on the first floor or rooftop at sunset The staff is very friendly, and it's convenient because you can request and check what you need through the app! This hotel was recommended to me by a friend who has been surfing Bali for two years. Me with my wife spent almost two weeks there. A wonderful hotel for both surfers and families. The beach is right across the street, you can see it right from the hotel cafe. The cafe has two floors, we preferred to have breakfast on the second floor, as it has a better view of the beach.
There is a swimming pool and a Kuta Social club on the roof. My wife and I spent one of the evenings at the rooftop bar, with a stunning view of the night beach.
There is absolutely everything tourists need nearby within walking distance. Even a mall with clothes.
The interior of the rooms is chic, with a surfing vibe. On the ground floor there is a place to wash clothes and immediately dry them.
Breakfasts are very tasty and very beautiful served.
The staff is great, very responsive, very pleasant. They immediately help with any problem. Separately, I want to thank the administrator Krisan, who helped us with our little wish.
There is also a gym here, but we didn't use it.
I would also like to add that I have not seen any drunk people or those who behaved ugly in this area in two weeks.
We will definitely stay at this hotel next time.
I recommend it for those who want to enjoy their vacation to the fullest.
