An absolute little hidden gem. Staff give you privacy, yet are on hand for anything you may need. There was a mix up with my airport pickup, so they paid for my driver when I arranged my own. Rooms are spacious. Old but clean. Pool lovely. The hotel seemed quite full but still very quiet. I only booked two nights here but extended our stay as we enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend. The only downside is the internet is quite bad. Only $50 a night including breakfast, you wouldn't find this standard anywhere else for this price.

We had not been to Bali for many years as we were put off by (the still ongoing ) over development of what was our favourite destination. However we tried it again this year and though still disappointed with the island's seemingly mad rush to loose its' very soul, Uns was still the lovely place it always was. The only changes were for the better and we think it is now being run by the family's daughter. Her attention to detail along with Putu and Nyoman from the old days, sweep the place spotless and the flowers are still put out on the balconies. Though it breaks our hearts to see Bali becoming more and more a loud traffic jammed party playground and adjusting its values to accommodate the yahoo element we hope that in the end the Uns type of atmosphere will continue to change Bali back to the island of the Gods

We booked in for 1 night and ended up staying for 4 nights 😀 relaxing retreat in the middle of Kuta. Close to walk to beach, shops, restaurants and nightlife. Excellent service and choice of breakfast options. Rooms spacious, comfortable and well maintained. Pool in centre surrounded by beautiful gardens is very relaxing. Staff are very polite and friendly. Really great value accommodation and fantastic for the location. Wifi is reliable. Parking available too. Mini marts over the road.

My family and I stayed here from Dec. 28th till Jan.3rd. This hotel has been the worst thanks to their terrible staff.
1. When we arrived they didn’t have our rooms ready it was 4pm! We were 6 people and had booked 2 deluxe rooms.
2. We had to sleep WITHOUT BEDSHEETS for a night! 6 people with no bedsheets when we asked them for some the staff pretty much said just deal with it! The next day we had to pretty much beg the staff to give us sheets and the once we got the next day were dirty!
3. Their employee named Tony or Tomi was extremely rude. As a person who travels a lot and has stayed in 4 hotels in Bali I’ve never encountered a hotel staff that rude before. When we told him that our beds don’t have bedsheets he said just sleep without them. When we asked him to change the given sheets the next day cause they were dirty he said that we were the ones who dirtied them and kept arguing with us. (See pic) He also told us multiple times if we want bedsheets we should go and sleep in a different hotel! We would have if the other hotels weren’t fully booked.
4. Our rooms weren’t cleaned at all. They only made the beds and that’s it even after we asked them to clean the rooms because there was dust and trash lying around from the previous guests they didn’t. (Pic)
5. The soap and sanitary items were moldy and just disgusting. (Pic) so were the bathrooms. We asked them to give us new ones but they never did it was in our room for the 6 days we had stayed.

Don’t stay here just pay an extra 100 and find a better hotel!

The hotel is located in an alley in Legian, on the way to the beach, and has two large buildings around a nice garden, with a housetemple, gazebo, and a pool with sunloungers. Both buildings have two floors with huge galleries of verandahs, with some antiques, giving the place a colonial atmosphere. They lobby is in the back.
A good breakfast is served in the restaurant The Balcony on the 1st floor in the front. And jazz with your eggs and toast? It's okay with us. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner too, but is rather expensive.
The staff is very friendly and very active, working all day to keep the place nice and clean and to assist the guests.
The rooms are large and clean. No fridge though. The bathroom (with toilet, sink and shower) is open to one side, which means flies, mosquitoes, ants, tjitjaks, butterflies, your occasional tokeh, and other creatures. That could be challenging, if you have to pee in the middle of the night. It's a tropical experience, too.
They provide toiletpaper, but no soap, no shampoo, no glasses, no tissues, and no bottles of water.
Another challenge is the large group of Aussie-regulars that seems to run the place. If they hit the pool, and start their loud and endless conversations, all others leave. We know in this area older Aussies are overrepresented, but we never had it so bad as in Un's Hotel. When we stayed here some couples of older Aussies-surfers on several occasions took over the pool area, for hours. When they eventually left, the French, Dutch, German, Swiss, et cetera reappeared from hiding, totally releaved that peace and quiet had returned. The worst was Ronnie the Gurgler, a 60-year old surfer unit, and member of the Aussie-gang of regulars. His behavior was full blown Neanderthal. Every ten minutes he cleaned his slime filled lungs with so much power and noise, that we got sick to our stomach listening to it. And then he spat in the flowerbeds, leaving us shocked and disgusted at the sight of it. We were totally annoyed by Ronnie, but we had some good laughs too, at this fascinating specimen of your bottem-end Aussie tourist. OMG. The first day we met him, he just returnend from the beach, maybe a fifteen minute walk, and suddenly noticed he forgot to bring his young daughter (7) from the beach. Apparently he did not miss her untill then, 'Home Alone' style. He panicked, and then ran out of the hotel to look for her. Luckily he quickly found her in the street. What a guy. Farts too.
Okay. Stop.
The neighborhood of Un's Hotel is not as nice as the Poppies-area, but there are a few restaurants in the alley up front, and some more on the way to the beach. The road to the beach – right next to the hotel – is (day and night) very busy with motorbikes. We had a room on the other side and we heared some streetnoise, but were not bothered by it.
-Positives: nice, colonial atmosphere, wonderful staff, good location to spot and study bottem-end Aussies tourists.
-Scale 1-10: 7 (without Aussie-regulars: 8; without Aussie-regulars and without open bathrooms: 8,5.).
-Will we ever return? There is a chance.

This is our first stay in a 3 star hotel, just back today from our 5 night stay at Un's. We found the Balcony restaurant during our last visit in January, & noticed this quiet private hotel below, decided to try it already loving the location. So impressed from the moment we arrived. Very friendly staff, beautiful green gardens & lovely clean pool. Our room basic but comfortable & clean. Our $2 a day fridge was already cold on arrival not to mention the aircon that was already on( first time we have ever experienced that), so nice to walk into a cool room. Bathroom was a good size with a great shower, good water pressure & water always hot.
Breakfast at the Balcony was lovely, not your typical buffet. You have a special guest menu which is plenty. We often treated our selves to a flat white or mango juice which of course was extra but well worth it.
Loved the patio area out side our room, so cool & peaceful. Our room was serviced every day, always nice to come back to a lovely clean room.
Thank you uns for a wonderful stay, absolutely loved it. We will definitely be back, hopefully next time with family & friends.
Fantastic value for money, highly recommend.

We stayed in one of the bungalows with our two children 6 and 10 for four nights before going to Gilli's and then returned for our last night because we loved Un's so much.

Our trip was our first backpacking trip with our kids. My husband and I spent two years travelling SE Asia 12 years ago and have been desperate to get back. Bali and the Gilli's were our choice to initiate the kids!

We were looking for a place to stay that had a backpacker feel to it but equally would be ok for kids. The bungalow was amazing huge beds with mozzie nets, great outdoor bathroom, lovely verandah and walled garden. As another reviewer mentioned it has a real colonial feel to it. It is noisy as you are by the road but you are in Kuta! We found after the first night you get used to it.

The staff made us feel extremely welcome and were rushing around when we arrived as the bungalow wasn't quite ready. I don't understand the reviewers who say this place is dirty. Our bungalow was cleaned every day and even though we were only there initially for four days our sheets were changed three times and we were given clean towels daily which we weren't expecting to get. OK one day the sheets were a bit grey but they were definately clean and freshly laundered. We wanted a place that was Bali not a western faceless hotel and we got the character and atmosphere we wanted.

Great pool, although as it was small we did restrict our kids to using it when there weren't too many people quietly sunbathing!! Breakfast was good, pancakes or bacon and eggs, fresh juice, coffee or tea.

The kids cried when we left (mind you if you lived in the UK would you want to go home!!). Absoloutely would stay here again and would recommend it to friends. Wish I was there now......

Kuta is a madhouse. But its a must for most travelers coming to Bali. Un's is a 5 minute walk to the beach. Its got a nice pool and a fantastic vibe. So charming! I saw many people who never left the hotel! Staff are awesome and its so central to everything. rather than buying a bunch of crap and hauling it around Bali spend your last night here and do all your shopping within walking distance from here. I ended up staying 3 different times. Pick the AC rooms second floor. they can also make arrangements for trips beyond. talk to Wayan (there are a million wayans in Bali) he's the big fella that can set up any tours.
