Quirky little hotel for a few minutes-walk from the famous, fish restaurant-scattered Jimbaran beach.
Completely different from the chain’s Ubud hotel but nevertheless just as fab. The staff is super sweet and made sure our stay was special.
The hotel doesn’t have many rooms so it had a boutique-hotel feel and felt very intimate throughout our stay.
We stayed in one of the duplexes and the room is very stylish and quirky, equipped with the same luxury toiletries we got used to in their Ubud hotel. It was cleaned to a high standard daily and toiletries replenished every time.
The pool isn’t massive but there are only a few rooms using it and there were only ever one or 2 people in it. And who wants to swim in the pool anyway when you can surf in the ocean just a few minutes walk away!
The restaurants are very nice and the Indian curry was delicious!
Lovely stay, would definitely come back!

My wife had a medical episode while staying there and the reception staff went over and above to accommodate her by moving us to a more suitable room for the duration of our stay.
They also allowed us late checkout till 3:00 pm and after that we had full use of all the facilities including a special room to shower and dress until 7:00 pm when we departed for the airport. Highly recommended.

My wife and I had our delayed honeymoon at the beginning of June at Kupu Kupu Jimbaran. I was extremely impressed with the hospitality of the entire staff, particularly Frédéric and Nata. We were surprised when our room was upgraded to a beautiful villa for our honeymoon.

The staff was very considerate and thoughtful in offering suggestions and planning events for us throughout our stay, and Frédéric even took half a day to show us around local markets and to a delicious lunch at the fish market. Would highly recommend buying your seafood at the market and taking it to a local restaurant to cook - it was a highlight for us!

Jimbaran beach club is a pretty easy 5ish minute walk down a low traffic road and is a great place to relax for the day on the beach. It has drinks, lounge chairs, food and a great view of the sunset.

Our stay was a bit unique in that we were on the front end of tourists coming back to Bali after Covid, and there wasn’t a whole lot of tourist traffic. The hotel is also currently under renovation, so many of the facilities that will be available in a month or so were not available to us. That being said, the staff more than made up for anything we missed in the facilities with the wonderful experience they gave us. Thank you for an unforgettable honeymoon!

I really hate writing these negative reviews but feel an obligation to help future guests considering staying at kupa kupa jimbaran.
Me and my wife came here on on the tail end of our marriage/honeymoon trip and had 4 nights booked but the experience was so horrendous we could not wait to leave after one night.

The elevator up to the room was like a coffin, rickety, me and my wife could barely fit in it together.

The first run down room we got to the air conditioning did not work upstairs and the staff unsuccessfully tried to fix it so after a few hours they kindly moved us to a similar room a few doors down. As the air conditioning did work better this room was equally as run down. It's almost as if this room was built in the early 1980s and very little was done to maintain the room since. While the room was spacious, that was about it. The lamp/light fixture on the ground had an exposed electrical wire which I felt was unacceptable and a fire hazard to be honest. The power switches were weird, in order to keep power to the bottom floor (lights in the bathroom/shower, power to the outlets downstairs) you had to have the "master" light switch on, which turned on all the lights to the entire upstairs and downstairs. So while I tried to charge my phone in the outlet/use the bathroom light while my wife slept upstairs, all of the lights had to also be on upstairs. Atrocious design flaw. The sink would fill full of water every time you used it, there were gross moldy rings at the bottom of the bathtub (didn't think twice about using it) and the light fixture on the upstairs balcony was out of the wall hanging by wires. I was thinking why on earth am I paying $110/night USD (roughly $1,630,000 rupieh/night) for this crummy place?! The TV downstairs is like a kilometer away from the couch (which is actually just a twin sized small bed with a bedcover on it) and the max volume is so low you can't even hear anything from the makeshift couch. We ended up just watching a movie on my wife's laptop instead. The rooms are very close to the rooms across the way so you are pretty much just looking into other people's rooms if you look outside, zero privacy with the wine stained curtains drawn back which we prefer. The surrounding area frankly sucks, we ended up going to dinner at the nearby intercontinental resort (which was delightful for sunset by the way).

When we checked out after our shortened stay they did offer a refund for the other 3 nights but we were told the refund would take 14 business days to be refunded, approximately 3 weeks.

I want to emphasize that the staff was very nice and this is not a rip on them, we felt bad that they had to host guests in such a crappy unsuitable place. 5 starts my ass!

Our first visit to Bali and we were fortunate to have booked the first week of our stay at the Kupu Kupu in Jimbaran.

Our rooms were absolutely amazing as we had two very spacious villas next to the pool. The rooms were beautiful and peaceful. There were only a few guests during our stay and the limited number of guests made us feel very special.

Indonesia closed its borders during Covid and Bali suffered greatly during that time as the island is so completely dependent on tourism. To provide a complete review of the hotel, it must be said that the Kupu Kupu in Jimbaran is itself still in the process of completing extensive repairs and renovation. The number of guests they can host is very limited as are the services they are presently able to offer at the hotel. As with everything Bali, however, it is the people who make this island such a special place to visit.

Our family will never forget the incredible service provided by the staff of the hotel and especially Nada, the manager. She made us feel like family and made sure that we never wanted for anything. We all looked forward to spending time with Nada each day. She explained so much to us about the people and customs of the island. We were all truly saddened that we could not take her with us to when we left for the Kupu Kupu Barong in Ubud.

Above and beyond Nada, the entire staff were so open and inviting. Dewey was always there with a smile as was Yoman who safely drove us all around Jimbaran.

From the moment we were picked up from the airport to entering Kupu Kupu Jimbaran we were greeted with a huge welcome and warmth from Donald. The hotel is dressed in a very Balinese manner which we found lovely. To the lovely drink and amazing apple cake which were served on our arrival to the incredible staff who do everything to make your stay perfect. Beautiful pool outside our rooftop villa, clean warm and welcoming, not crowded and very relaxing. We were provided with plenty of bottled water every day and the rooms were huge with a very comfortable bed and we slept peacefully every night. We spent time on the beach swimming in the deliciously warm sea, sunbathing at the beach bar where you could buy a snack and drinks. The beach bar staff are very friendly and helpful but the actual beach bar is very tired and does need a revamp but due to covid they were closed for 2 years so very understandable that they need guests back before injecting money into the bar. We were amazingly looked after by Pande Suartaya who genuinely could not do enough for us , an absolutely special man who had a lovely smile which will never be forgotten and he is a great Ambassador for Kupu Kupu Jimbaran, also thanks to Sika who is a lovely lady and so helpful. It was my birthday during our stay and the bed was decorated with towels architecturally made into rabbits and a cake with rose petals and banana leaves spelling out my name, l will treasure this memory and thank Pande especially for a wonderful stay.

I went for a 90-minute Balinese spa and had a great experience. I would rate it 5/5 for the excellent technique, warm hospitality, and great atmosphere. Chandra was my masseuse, and she was very skilled. During the massage, she identified several blockages and later applied a hot towel press on those areas towards the end of the spa. As I was staying at the hotel, I received a 50% discount on the spa.

Regarding the hotel, I would give it a rating of 3/5. The room was spacious, with plenty of room to walk and sit, but it tended to get quite dark during sunset, and the interior decor was typical Bali style with a lot of wood and not enough lighting. As I was on a business trip, I found it a bit too dark to work or spend time in.

We stayed 6 nights, the staff is super attentive, polite, good English and very friendly, we loved them. We had an upgrade from the initial room booked to a newly built area with the 4 new detached rooms with communal pool, very comfortable bed, lovely walk in shower and plenty of space in this beautifully decorated room. Breakfast was perfect every time and so much of it too. Only a few minutes walk to the beach which has an area, the beach club, dedicated to guests who gets free sun loungers, big umbrella and fresh towels every morning, the beach is great too.

It was really a great stay. The room 2 is so beautiful and authentic Ramayana. The staff is excellent and friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is delicious with many different drag juices, eggs and local and international delicacies. The location is a small walk from the Jimbaran so delightful beach where health juices and other refreshments are available in abundance.

We were a group of 6, booked 3 rooms.
2 rooms were side by side, and one was a duplex paying same price
All rooms were spacious with Balinese style decorations, with vanity, bath tub, shower and wc separate in the back of the room.
We truly enjoyed the hospitality and warmness of the staffs, from lobby to beeakfast room.
The duplex where my sister in law had small issue with water leaking from the roof because of the heavy rain during the night but it had been resolved immediately.
