Honestly, if you have other options you should take them. The manager (Kush) clearly hates his job and hates budget travellers. He was short and difficult to deal with at both check in and check out. We stayed for one night on 12/26/07. Given that we only paid 450rps for the room, I'd say we got what we paid for,...

This is good guest house in Varanasi, the view is amazing and the location really can't be beat. However its quite a walk on foot, since no transportation can get thru this area and you'll have to carry your bags up and down a series of staircases. This is a problem for any hotel near the ghats. We stayed for...

Scindhia Guesthouse is located next to Scindhia Ghat. It's also close to the burning Manikarnika Ghat. It is quite difficult to reach as you have to walk thru small alley ways of the old city and you have to climb up a few steps. But i guess this is your option if you wanna stay in guesthouses located along the...

The staff (Kush) was rude and unhelpful. He charged extra for absolutely EVERYTHING!!! A far/unsafe walk from town at night. And furious about the fact that we paid extra for a balcony that we could not use because of monkeys, which they knew in advance but failed to tell us. Don't go here, don't give him your money. There are...

We had a great time at the Schindia guest house. The room was clean, shower hot, view terriffic, food delicious. We did a sunrise and sunset tour, and a walking tour as well. We had a wonderful time and would stay again. The manager Kush Barman was most helpful. And at night, a man would come around with blankets so...

I stayed at Scindhia for 5 days during April of 2007. Just returned from there matter of fact. The sheets weren't as clean as some reviews have said. Also, the rooms with air condition cost more but the air conditioner wasn't working. I stayed at one with only a fan but others complained about their air conditioner not working. Worst...

What great value this place is, It was by far our cheapest accommodation in India and rated amongst the best. The room and sheets etc spotlessly clean with a private bathroom and plenty of hot water. It is obviously geared for backpackers so be aware you will need a sleeping bag to keep warm as there is no top sheet...

I returned from India this morning with my girlfriend and had such a good time at the Scindhia Guest House that I feel the need to write a few sentences here about it. The other reviewer (18th November 2005 member) is pretty much spot on with his comments about the location: its great, right where the action is, a great...

My wife & I spent two nights at Scindia Guest House. We could not have been more pleased with the facility or the service. The room was clean & comfortable, hot water plentiful (not the norm in most of India's more modest accoms) & the view absolutely spectacular. The manager, Mr. Kush Barman, was extremely helpful & congenial in all...

I disagree with a good review of Schindhia Guest House... Just stayed there a week ago and had to move to a different hotel cause 1) walk back to the hotel after dark is totally impossible! I was alone and it was a huge problem, maybe not that bad in a group, but individual travellers pretty much won't be able...
