In a crazy neighborhood, a great place. Nice rooms, clean. Walking distance from Ganges and all activities. Electricity and wifi frequently falling, probably not their fault. Great breakfast and good meals. Please take mosquito repelent.

I stayed in this property in Jan 2017. My home town is pretty close to Varanasi and i wanted to spend a day attending Ganga Arti and walking through the Ghat. This hotel is located right at the Assi Ghat, the lobbies are great with potraits of musical insturments and artists, the reception area could have been better. For India, this is very overpriced. We stayed for two nights. We were first put directly under the restaurant and roof top terrace, which was noisy until about 11pm. After being asked to be moved, we were in a much quieter room on the ground floor. Food was ok, but again, expensive. Wifi extra and not very good.

Nice hotel, old but well maintained building. Two restaurants, on on street level and one on rooftop. Very well located. I strongly recommend. Step from Assi Ghat where you can witness daily Aarti. Small hotel.

The location is great! The room I was given had no view. I paid 8000 a night and this is too much money to pay for a small room with absolutely no view. All I could see from the window was another wall! I did not try the breakfast but I heard it just fills the belly.

Stayed here as a family and had a Ganges view room. It had a small balcony with a decent view. Was noisy though, with stray dogs barking through the night- but that is part of the travel experience! Nice restaurant with live music every night. Can walk to all the ghats, and if you want a river cruise, the boats...

The rooms are sufficient but good. The area (Assi Ghat) is really nice. Lots of restaurants and cafes. Also close to Ganges. The only negative thing was that you had to pay for wifi and it only works on one device at the time. Provide free wifi in the room!

Clean, peaceful, and...the location : Assi Ghat is the quietest and most authentic in the area. The closest you get to cremation location, the most you get huge crowds of tourists. Palace on Ganges, is the place where locals go to for morning and evening prayers. No huge crowds. You get the magic feeling of the mornings on the Ganges....

Palace may be a bit of a stretch. It must have been very grand at one time, but it has seen better days. However, its charming with large rooms, antique furniture and lots of beautiful woodwork (Even some Kama Sutra carvings is some of the rooms). Our room was on the 2nd floor with no view and no elevator (not...

I came to Varanasi with my family on 3/1. We had a nice welcome and got coffee served as our room wasn't ready. The room was ok nothing flash. It was very dusty. The sheets were linty. We had three guests sleeping and they had two pillows. At the night we discovered that there was one switch that turned off...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palace on Ganges is a new, immaculately clean hotel with 22 rooms, each named for -- and said to be decorated in the style of -- a different region of India. Our rooms were good-sized and well appointed (cable TV sets, non-alcholic mini-bar, tables and chairs). The staff is friendly and attentive. Food is vegetarian and well prepared. The big advantage is Palce on Ganges's location. It is at Asi Ghat, And while it's "on the Ganges," a small road and a large where you can get the cab easily from just out of the hotel. Views of the Ganges from the balcony -- and rooms facing the river (on supplement charges) -- are far less good than those from, among others hotels. Disadvantages: not all rooms face the river. ... more   less
